Jitsu Has Truly Transformed My Daughter's Confidence…read more Choosing Jitsu for my daughter was intentional. I wanted her to learn how to protect herself -- and if needed, to protect her little sister and her friends. I wanted her to grow up knowing she was strong, aware, and capable. What I didn't realize was how much more this journey would give her. When she first joined, she was shy and uncertain, but everything changed once she stepped onto the mat and into a community that believed in her. Having her best friend there made the experience even more special. They pushed each other, laughed through tough drills, and grew side by side in ways only true teammates can. Now it's been two years and counting, and she's still not sick of it -- not even close. If anything, she loves it more than when she started. That alone tells you they're doing something completely right. One of the biggest takeaways she's held onto is: "Never cry on the mat." And she takes it very literally -- but honestly, it's not a bad thing. For her, it means fight harder, stay focused, and don't give up. We get it... but let's be real, moms are absolutely allowed to cry on the sidelines. As a mom, it still scares me watching her train and compete -- that feeling never truly goes away. But her confidence has grown so strong that she's now the one asking me to sign her up for competitions. Seeing her walk onto the mat with purpose and pride is something I never imagined two years ago. I have to give so much credit to Jorge, Coach Chris, and Coach Brandon. They prepare her for every competition with patience, discipline, and unwavering belief in her. They've helped shape her into a girl who isn't afraid to push herself, challenge herself, and trust her own strength. Because of them, my heart is at ease a little more each time she competes. Jitsu didn't just teach her self-defense -- it opened a whole new world inside her. One filled with courage, growth, friendship, and confidence. Watching her transform has been one of the greatest gifts, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.

He looks forward to training and it has become his favorite extra curricular activity. He has fun. Coach Chris, Jorge, and team have a created a captivating learning environment and community where discipline, respect, and confidence are foundational virtues to compliment the knowledge of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu . Our son has made many friends and built relationship , but most importantly, has been learning everyday life skills that will carry on into his adult hood.

Master Frohm and…read moreChief Instructors May and Jefferson have cultivated a community that is caring, supportive and motivating. Expectations of the kids and older students are very high, and comes from a place of love and integrity. And while the physical expectations of training are there, the expectations don't end at the walls of the school. The instructors regularly talk with the kids about balance in their lives - encouraging them in school, supporting family, and pushing students to critically evaluate their relationship with devices and social media. It never comes off as preachy, because the instructors have earned the respect of their students. You will have fun, you will find a family, at times you will be sore and frustrated...but you will feel like you are doing something great for your mind and body. Students range from age three to fifty. Whoever you are (and whatever shape you are in) you will be accepted here and encouraged to be your best. But you have to experience it to truly understand.

Belts are not given out because you've been here a long time and pay your tuition. There is integrity involved, and you have to earn each rank, regardless of your age. I came to Frohm's Martial Arts with my daughter who began almost a year before me and I was impressed. Impressed by Head Teacher Mr. Frohm, the Blackbelts, and most important the students. Like I say for any school... Look at the students the school produces, look at the environment and see how the students are treated. My daughter gained confidence, she received positive feedback for the things she was doing well, and they worked on the things that needed work. The school's motto is: **Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, Indomitable Spirit** ...and you can tell that it's not just empty words. I am a 38 year old woman, not the first person you think of when you think of martial arts; but I am a martial artist!! My karate birthday (when I began) is 12/04/07. My daughter brought me to karate, but the school kept me here. This is my second family! Everybody is very respectful to each other and will make newcomers feel comfortable as well. I can't say enough about Head Teacher Mr. Frohm. A good program starts with a good instructor. He is kind, humble and an amazing instructor! He knows how to push you to be a better person physically and mentally. Our students, Black belts and lower belts, fight and do forms/katas in tournaments, and they not only do well, but they show respect, integrity and self-control on and off the mat. Check out FMA or Frohm's martial arts on Youtube for a preview! ***Remember: it is ALWAYS advisable to AVOID a street fight at any cost! No matter how good you are at your art/sport, ANY crazy person can just grab a gun and shoot you. Then that's it - end of story ****

After doing MixxedFit for about 2 years I decided to try something different as I was puttering out due to the location and late time. TBK offers high intensity work outs from krav fit boot camp, kickboxing, karate (for kids and adults) with a schedule of classes in the mornings, evenings and Saturdays...hard to make excuses there. Owner/Instructor Anthony Brewer who is a Certified Trainer, holds 5 black belts, is a World Karate and 3x National Jujitsu Champion (Dayyyyumm! and the list goes on) teaches the class along with Jalen, longtime-student/instructor...can you say intimidating?! Definitely not, but motivating! Anthony and Jalen both guide you through the workouts at each station (bike, rowing machine, kettle bell, ropes, dumb bells, medicine ball, etc while showing you the proper technique to maximize the workout and make it fun (with music!). This is definitely a no pressure, work-at-your own pace class but at the same time both are there to encourage students to push through. So far, its been my 2nd week and though challenging has been great...I'll admit the first few classes kicked my 'arse' (good thing) and also felt light-headed afterwards but Anthony educated me on what I need to change and provided a booklet (first day) on nutrition, journaling, food list/meals, etc. Something, I need to read and follow but trying to focus on getting in a routine first...yes the struggle is real! :P I really like that staff and students are very welcoming and helpful to newbies like myself! So if you want a place with no 'hipster-tude', not be judged because you're not wearing Lululemon, and don't 'need-to-be-fit' to get fit (clean) environment, check out Team Brewer Karate in Downtown Hayward. Plenty of FREE street parking and a municipal lot next door.
