Great training at the Judo program run by Charles. He takes great care in developing his students. Safety is a priority in this class. Sufian, an old school judoka trained in Eastern Europe helps teach when he can. Great class. The students will be great representatives of judo one day. When I'm back living in the area, I'll check out the jiujitsu program. read more

They do have a parking lot on the side of the building and there is street parking available as well. Super easy to sign up and great communication kept with families. read more

I checked out a couple other gyms before getting connected with EDGE and knew almost instantly that it was the right fit. From the very first interaction, it was clear that the culture was kind and genuine, and the community welcoming. The owner Al was warm and friendly right away and didn't try to give me the hard sell, instead inviting me to try out a couple classes to see how I liked it. There was no pressure on me to commit before I was comfortable, which in turn made me comfortable right away. I had a drastically different experience at other gyms that I visited and the energy here was a breath of fresh air. I've been attending classes regularly for the last two months as a pure beginner to martial arts and been having an incredible experience. Al and the other instructors, Vern and Charles just to name a few, are not only masters of the craft and effective with passing on their knowledge, they care about the wellbeing of everyone present and are diligent at addressing any concerns to create a safe environment. As a result, the same attitude has been passed on to all the members. Classes have become the highlight of my week and I look forward to them every day. Can't recommend EDGE enough! read more

Al the owner and Chris another coach have been awesome! As well as other higher belts who are so willing to help out us newbies. I have primarily attended the morning 6am classes as they fit perfect with my schedule, plus such an awesome thing to get your workout/training done before work! The level of intimacy has been special in the morning. One of the things that makes Edge stand out to me has been the emphasis on the right attitude! Attitude of Learning over winning. Al has expressed the importance of the long-game, as much of the time we throw ourselves all in trying to out-muscle the other person in jujitsu, yet in doing so missing the point of the game. I have been guilty of this few times. Safety being a high priority in this gym's culture. Overall the vibe of the place is very encouraging and welcoming. I wish to bring my daughter sometime in the future as they also have kids classes and I hear are pretty great. Thanks Everyone who makes this place what it is! (even though I am on a short leave due to my back, lol) read more

EDGE is definitely a gym that will hold a special place in my heart. The owner, instructors, and fellow teammates here all welcome a learning environment where one feels comfortable, safe and motivated to improve their martial arts game! The gym has a regular schedule offering BJJ, Muay Thai, MMA, Judo and Wrestling classes throughout the week. All the instructor and coaches are awesome and really help you improve each time. Also, being a female in male dominated spaces can be scary for some and intimidating especially when physical contact is also involved. You don't have to worry about that here! Everyone made sure I was comfortable but also matched my speed and energy to give me a fair shot during sparring, rolling, etc. This gym is all about family and I definitely will miss training here! The commute just became too much for me but if I could've I would've trained here for a long time and more! Thanks EDGE! read more

Been here for about a month. I am an introvert and don't like new things. However, from the first moment I walked in, everyone made me feel very welcome. I am also 53 out of shape and have never even tried jiujitsu. They have been patient, understanding and supportive each step of the way. I would highly encourage anyone considering it to try Edge Training Center. The community in this gym is awesome. It is challenging, but the rewards are awesome. Mentally and physically this sport helps you tremendously. It also keeps you humble. Al is a great owner and is very supportive. read more

Al is an amazing teacher and a skilled practitioner he's also very friendly was helpful to me and other beginners and in teaching us good bjj. Al also teaches no gi class and has superb technique and is beyond friendly . Great space incredible vibe and a nice combination of good training and friendly atmosphere..highly recommended! read more

This review is everyone but specifically for people who are new to bjj and older than 39. I wrestled in high school and a friend of mine who was already a member of Edge had been encouraging me to get into bjj. My first day of training was a lot of fun, challenging, and made me want to join on the spot. The other guys there are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The vibe is competitive but without the attitude. Al, the owner, is great and is eager to help people get into this awesome sport. I would encourage anyone who has the slightest interest in bjj to check out Edge. read more

Nothing but LOVE at Edge Training Center. I have been training here for 5 months and can EASILY say that it is one of the best decisions I have made for myself physically and spiritually. I take both the jiu-jitsu and kickboxing classes and love them both as they are completely different. Special thanks to Al, who puts in allot of time and effort to making the center what it is, and for starting 6 a.m. classes!!! Come check out a class and get hooked! It is definitely a family that you join, and a dope one at that. 2019 is going to be great! Thank you Edge Training Center!!!! read more

Edge is the environment I've looked for at gyms my whole life. The level of acceptance and support is through the roof. My daughter has been training kids bjj for over a year and now they've got me rolling too! Everyone shares knowledge, laughs, sweat, and hugs...a tiny bit of blood now and then, just a bit. read more

Edge Training Center is not just a place to learn the BJJ, its a place to feel like you're family. I stepped into this Gym 1 year ago, and I immediately felt camaraderie with the members. No egos and no Jerks. Everyone helped each other with technique, and the Black Belt instructor Coach Vern rolls with his students. Edge is technique focused, and you'll get an excellent workout. The lessons are simplified so that white belts understand advanced techniques. They lay a good groundwork for new student and refine technique for the more experienced grapplers. Also, Fridays is open mat and you have an opportunity to roll with people from other academies. See you guys on the mat! read more

They lured me in (all the way from Oakland) to purchase a gi. I ended up taking two classes and really enjoying them. Vernie gave us very clear instruction that built on itself so that we would be working an entire scenario by the end of class. I did my first rolling ever with them and each guy was very patient and helpful. They have a very safe and welcoming atmosphere. Only withholding a star because I haven't been around enough to really judge the quality relative to other BJJ schools. read more

Edge Training Center is life changing. I had lost motivation after hitting a wall. I discovered Edge through my boyfriend and I am beyond happy I did. At first I was a little intimated as I have never done anything like this. Definitely out of my box. But, the first day I joined ( which was two months ago ) I automatically felt welcome and comfortable. Nandy took his time and made sure I was doing everything correctly and reassured me that everything takes time. Two months later I have a major difference in my upper strength and my kicks are getting better. I am down in weight and looking leaner. I look forward to Muay Thai kick boxing class. I always pack my gym bag the night before and ready to go. I am hooked. Nothing but respect to the Edge family. I recommend this class to everyone I know. Thank you Edge Family!! Firstly, this is an awesome gym. I first came in during a transitionary time at my gym, I told Al about my concerns and he was more than accommodating to me. He made me feel comfortable and at home at their gym. Every time I'm in there the atmosphere is really encouraging both competitively and even for people that just started BJJ. You are never made to feel like an outsider at this gym, which I'm not sure about you, but that means a lot to me. Outside of all that, the classes are excelling and continuing to grow, the instructor Vernie is top notch, a good man and very detailed in his instruction of techniques and knowledge. Honestly, what more could you ask for from a gym? read more

I had been thinking about trying Jiu-Jitsu for a year before I worked up the courage to walk in. At 53 years old it took a lot of courage. I didn't know what I was getting into but i figured it would be hard and I would have to force myself to stay disciplined and go to class. Well I was 1/2 right...its hard, but 2 years later I'm here 4-5 times a week and trying to figure out how to add more. Looking for a physical challenge? Come and try it but don't be surprised.. camaraderie, friendship, Community, mental awareness and a regular dose of humility are apart of the package. Sweat the word CAN'T right out of your vocabulary. You'll be amazed and you'll be better!! read more

I was very apprehensive about joining any gym because I am extremely out of shape, and frankly terrified that I couldn't keep up. I was pleasantly surprised that everyone was more welcoming than I could imagine. They pushed me to keep up, but I didn't feel embarrassed if I needed to take a break. Right away I could see that even though I am nowhere near in shape, my weight wasn't the handicap it would have been with boxing or running. I have since learned that a big guy with some technique is not without his weapons, and can even get a guy to tap on rare occasions. I joined 6 weeks ago and have been going twice a week, and have already lost 16 lbs! I would highly encourage you to attend a free class and check it out. read more

This is my first time write a review. Because I really want to share my excellent experiences with everyone. I want to Edge training center and had private lesson with Alvin. He is great and patience. He is one of the best fitness coach that I met. He answered all my questions & it was easy decision to sign up. read more

I have had private Muay Thai kick boxing lessons here for almost 2 years. Awesome gym with a family feel. All are welcome. I found the instructor to be knowledgeable, patient, kind, and willing to work with my physical limits from previous broken bones. Great with kids and adults alike. I have built up my self confidence and skills. They work with you and don't just leave you to punch a bag in a pretty gym. They teach Ju Jitsu as well. If you are looking for a Mr. Miyagi (from Karate Kid) type of instructor, you will find him with Alvin Amposta. Highly recommend Alvin and Edge. read more

Edge Training Center is a great place to learn the arts of bjj and kickboxing. The bjj black belt, Vernie, is a great teacher. His instruction is top notch and his pace for all levels at one time is truly impressive! The kickboxing with Nandy is also fantastic for a different but equivalent challenge with regards to cardio and striking. Above all, these instructors will help with getting fit, defending yourself, and exploring the world of martial arts at an extremely enjoyable level. Shout out to the business owner, Al, fellow practitioner, coach, and mentor for helping me get involved with the gym. Shout out to other Edge family members as well! Oss! read more

Been here for the past 4 weeks, ~4 days a week. My first impression of the gym is modest and clean. I have yet to meet anyone here w/ a negative attitude, and/or a macho ego. Everyone is helpful and all about cultivating community, rather than trying to prove how easily they can submit you. My experience w/ BJJ at this point is limited. I never wrestled before in my life and I am having so much fun doing this. It's like learning self-defense, a martial art, and rough housing, all in one. I really cannot recommend this place enough if you're looking to checkout jiujitsu. Prices are reasonable, staff is great, and the community here is lighthearted, despite having talent that some of them do. read more

You won't find a better instructor than Vernie Inocencio a black belt under Eduardo Rocha and Royler Gracie. He's a great teacher and has a ton of credentials ie. tournament wins to back them up. Clear and detail oriented but doesn't overwhelm you with too much too fast which is easy to do with beginners in BJJ. This is the most difficult martial art to master. read more

Such an amazing atmosphere. Great people, great team, and great coaches. We found Edge through Groupon and we have been 100% committed since day one. My daughter started first with JuiJitsu she was so nervous but they made sure they took their time with her so she could understood each technique. Now she's been in for almost a year with a grey belt . All because of her team and awesome coaches (Coach Al and Coach Randy). Adding on to that with my daughters encouragement I decided to join as well in learning the art of Muay Thai kickboxing! Coach Nandy and Nico are very patient and encouraging. Especially with me not working out for years it was tough, still is but I can see the difference already in my form and punches. I recommend anyone all shapes, sizes, ages, races, etc to take your time out and try it. Yes it won't be easy but it's fun and you'll feel great at the end. Especially with the Edge team by your side. Oh And awesome part is first classes are free hope to see you here read more

On my doctors suggestion he recommended taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to lose weigh. I called and the staff was very friendly. My first class I was nervous and a little self conscious. The instructor Vern is world class, literally. Very laid back and extremely intuitive to working with someone carrying a lot of extra weight, I never felt awkward or embarrassed. Vern's pedigree and his accomplishments in competition speak for itself. Within a month I saw progress. I'm now three months in and have made some real progress. Cholesterol down almost 30 points and a great new family to help me on my journey. Al and Nandy are great guys that have created a great atmosphere where I can come to as many as five classes a week. The monthly dues are very reasonable (believe me, others I called charged almost twice as much for 3 classes a week) if you want a place to train that you're not just a dollar sign come down and join our family, you won't regret it! read more
