The day before my move, I was told the cost would actually be over $1,100 due to a "call center mistake." I had no time to find another mover, so I was stuck paying nearly double. The franchise manager and owner both admitted the quoting issue was the call center's mistake and that there has been multiple issues with the call center company, but the best they offered was a small discount -- still well above what I was originally told. I understand labor isn't free, but it's unfair to place the burden of your internal errors on the customer. I won't be using this company again and would caution others to get all quotes in writing before booking. The movers were great, I would hire them ten times over however I would never conduct buisness with this company again after that initial experience.

I had a window on a Saturday morning from 10:30am-12:30pm. Around 10am, I received a call stating that they were on their way and would arrive around 10:40am. They pulled around the back of my house and within 5 minutes were able to through the patio furniture over the deck and were done. They were friendly and professional. I drove the U-Haul there to find 1 man Arthur and no other guy! He worked me in 105 degrees til I was sick. He dumped my totes over and ripped bags and was a bull in a china cabinet! I said my underpants n socks are on the parking lot n he said the bag ripped Missy. He was so nasty and bc I was loading downstairs I did not see my unit until it was packed and I saw that he threw my things in there and couldn't get the door down I said if you cant get the door closed how am I going to get it open??!! He says what do you want me to do miss?? He was HORRIBLE!! I don't know if my TV is ruined or my mom's keyboard. I told him what he did was unacceptable and he said he would bring a ladder the next day and repack it and to answer ASAP?! I said no! He never apologized nor offered a refund!! In early March 2019, at the suggestion of my Realtor, I was tasked to remove additional furniture and personal items from my home in Chesapeake Beach to prepare to place my house on the sales market. After asking the manager of the local storage facility if she knew of any movers she referred me to Mr. Short and his company. (I have lived in Ches Bch for over 30 years and still have issues finding reliable and reasonably priced services in my area. The more rural the landscape the more I understand why a pick up truck and physically strong friends are necessary here. Need connections!) Mr Short responded within 24 hours after my initial query and, after sending him pictures of the items to be moved, he sent me his hourly charges and the approximate (estimated) time that would be necessary to complete the work. He arrived on time and he and his co-worker had the truck packed within 3 hours. I was with this crew through out most of this time and I didn't hear any negative remarks, comments, etc. This company was very careful with my possessions both removing from my house and then packing into the storage facility. In fact, he found a way to preserve a desk that was shaky at best. I am so pleased with Mr. Short's work I am considering this company to permanently move me to NC when I take possession of another house. No problem recommending !

We weren't able to give much notice but they were able to move some things around and squeeze us in on a day they were booked for. We were told they would shoot for between 2 and 3 pm. The day before our move, we were exhausted and not prepared. We called McKendree and asked if they could add another guy, because we were not even close to being prepared enough for the movers to come. The owner was so kind and said he could send his nephew (who was working for money for college during the summer) to our house in the morning to help gets us packed. His nephew showed up at 8 am. He definitely had his work cut out for him. What a respectful kind and efficient worker! The movers showed up at 2:15 as promised and worked until almost 11pm. We had some difficult stairs and angles to get around and they maneuvered our furniture delicately with ease. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and they were hard workers. First, with a positive, the follow up and customer service is great. It has to be, due to the following comments listed. 2. Moved a 1 bedroom apt( bedframe , mattress, dresser , 2 TVs , and a sofa), and it took 5 hours , with a locked elevator , in the same building, separated by 2 floors.Everything additional was boxed or bagged. No loose items. 3. They attempted to change the charges the day of the move , even though we had confirmed less than 24 hours prior. Claimed the 3rd person Was due to their double booking, snow , etc . And the additional man would speed up the process . Did i mention this simple 1 bedroom move took 5 hours for an in building, one bedroom transfer? Does that seem expedited ? Everything was a group effort, and teaching moment. this slowed the move down. For example, it Took 20 minutes of discussion to figure out how to disassemble a bed frame efficiently . Constantly going back and forth to the moving truck on the clock ( for what idk ) . If not watched , disappearing for 15-20 minutes at a time . 4. I was advised that I could leave my dresser items in the drawers, and they could move them efficiently. I now have to find someone to take my dresser apart, due to items some how making their way to inside unreachable areas insiders dresser. 5. I have to find someone to reassemble my sofa. They didn't put it back together. 6. You're charged 30 minutes to and from . So, you owe an hour before they start . They didn't have to leave the property, but charged me fuel . How do you charge someone fuel, and time for arrival, and departure ? Seems like the rate is only labor . You're also charged for any items used to rap to transport furniture . The intimation that they try to give you when you book is that is inclusionary. 7. With a discount, A DISCOUNT, this move cost me $1,000. Between the random 3rd man up charge , wrapping items for the large furniture , fuel charge , insurance that they make you cover that they don't disclose until the last minute that is almost $200 additional ... 8. Moved my items into the hallway, and left them there unattended while moving. 9. Even if you pay by phone, they want you to write your credit card information on a random piece of paper. It's a hard NO, for me. Yes, I signed, and let them go about their business. It's exhausting to keep debating obvious discrepancies, and hidden fees during a move which is a top 3 stressor in general. Just .... Don't . Use someone else .

I booked my move a week in advance and paid a $100 deposit after being told it would guarantee my moving date and secure my spot. Then, only 3 days before my scheduled move, the manager -- I believe his name was David -- called to tell me they were fully booked for the entire week and that my move would either need to be rescheduled or canceled altogether. I made it very clear from the beginning that my apartment lease ends on the 31st and that I needed to move before then. Had this company been honest about the fact that paying a deposit did not actually guarantee service, I would have hired another moving company much earlier. Now I'm left scrambling at the last minute, despite having everything planned out. I also have to report to work in another state on the 1st, so this has created a major inconvenience and unnecessary stress. To make matters worse, speaking with them on the phone was a complete disaster. The communication was unprofessional, disorganized, and unacceptable. They agreed to refund the $100 deposit, but that does not make up for the inconvenience, stress, and potential consequences this situation may cause me. If I receive penalties from my landlord for a late move-out or face any employment-related consequences because of this company's failure to honor their commitment, I will absolutely be exploring all possible legal and consumer protection options.
