We've been coming to St. Simons Island for years, and somehow this was our first visit to Del Sur…read more After one meal, we're wondering why we waited so long! Normally when we're on the island, our mission is to eat as much fresh seafood as possible, so it takes a lot for us to choose something from the land. Del Sur absolutely delivered. The skirt steak was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender, and the Italian dishes were just as impressive. The Parmesan risotto was rich and creamy, the linguine with pesto sauce was fresh and full of flavor, and even the mashed potatoes were outstanding. We also started with the beef empanada, which was the perfect way to kick off the meal. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere struck the perfect balance between casual and upscale. Del Sur has officially earned a spot on our must-visit list every time we're in St. Simons. If you're looking for a break from seafood without sacrificing an amazing meal, this is the place to go.

This was easily one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had at LongHorn Steakhouse. We…read morewaited nearly TWO HOURS for our food while watching customers who were seated long after us receive their meals before we did. As the night went on, it became clear that the issue was not simply the kitchen or the restaurant being busy--it was our waitress. She was extremely unfocused, was not properly attending to her tables, and apparently was refusing or failing to run food for her own tables when it was ready. Meanwhile, we were left sitting there wondering why everyone around us was being served. What made it even more frustrating was that instead of taking accountability, she repeatedly blamed other members of the staff for mistakes and delays. After waiting almost two hours, some of our orders STILL came out incorrectly. At one point, the experience was so noticeably different from the service other tables were receiving that we genuinely questioned whether we were being treated differently for another reason. Finding out that the real problem was our server's handling of her tables does not make the experience any more acceptable. Other employees actually stepped in and tried to help correct a situation they did not create, which I appreciate. Unfortunately, one server's lack of attentiveness, urgency, and accountability completely ruined the experience. Waiting nearly two hours for incorrect food while watching tables seated after us get served first is unacceptable. Mistakes happen, restaurants get busy, and I understand that--but neglecting your tables and then blaming your coworkers instead of taking responsibility is something entirely different. Management seriously needs to address this because no customer should have an experience like this.

Our drinks arrived quickly, and the complimentary butter croissants were warm and delicious. We started with the spinach dip, which was phenomenal, along with the salsa that had just the right little kick to it. For my entrée, I ordered the meatloaf (without gravy) with broccoli casserole and green beans. Everything was cooked perfectly. The meatloaf was flavorful and moist, the green beans were seasoned just right, and the broccoli casserole was absolutely delicious. The portions were generous and offered great value for the price. My brother ordered the fish and chips with steamed broccoli. His plate was piled high with food, and he said everything tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. The restaurant itself was very clean, tables were bussed promptly, and even the restrooms were spotless. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere made for a wonderful dining experience. I accidentally locked my keys in car, along with my purse, when planning to eat here. I walked in empty handed and explained my plight to the young woman serving as the hostess. She was an absolute pleasure and immediately stepped up to help. She checked to see if anyone in the back had a coat hanger and could help. Sadly no luck there but she then shared a name of a local towing company she was familiar with and recommended. After calling for help and receiving a 30 min ETA she sat me in Amber's section. I explained that my wallet was locked in my car but she took my order and shared a "burnt toast" concept that made me smile. The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean and pleasant in every way but what stood out the most was how helpful and kind these two were. Sadly, it took me a while to write this review and after a few weeks I seem to have forgotten the hostess's name. I can share that she was blond, younger and was filling in at that moment because she made the croissant that I ate. I've never eaten at a Cheddar's before but these two made this experience absolutely exceptional. I left a big tip for Amber but couldn't for my primary hero because she left for a Florida road trip before I could reach the cash in my wallet. I'm hoping her spectacular energy and intentions come back to her tenfold though...she truly saved the day for me!
