Heading home to Indy from Cincy and saw a little sign off 74 (next exit, 3 mi west!) so decided to try it. Cute road stop place and had high hopes. Outside counter service as well as several seats inside. I ordered outside to eat in the car with my doggo. Asked the server if the mushrooms or o'rings were homemade or frozen. She said frozen. I asked which were better and she said O'rings, so I went with that. Also got a cheeseburger. Paid then asked if they had pup cups (because they have ice cream and shakes) and she said yes, which I said how much and she said "60 cents but don't worry about it" and gave me one for my dog. The o'rings we actaully pretty good but not a huge portion. The burger was a little disappointing -- clearly a little frozen patty and not the "homemade grill" experience I was hoping for. But it was fairly inexpensive so that was good. The pup cup was a very generous amount of vanilla soft serve - and my dog loved it! My guess is that their ice cream and shakes might be pretty good. #yum #ReviewsByRL

Unfortunately my first experience under new ownership was less than impressive. Ordered take out on a Friday afternoon - your standard burger and fries. My cheeseburger came without the cheese. and the lettuce topping was non-existent. See photo. The best part of the meal was the french fries. In addition to my meal, I also ordered a double cheeseburger that arrived as a single. Wouldn't have been as big of a deal if my meal wasn't incorrect as well. Upon pickup, customer service was also a mess. Longer wait time and a confused team member who wasn't able to figure out how to complete the transaction/payment process. In my opinion, the restaurant staff hasn't received all of the proper training needed to open this early in the season. Overall, a rather disappointing experience, but I'm confident as time goes on, things will get better! Can't wait to head back soon...but next time, I'll just stick to ice cream!

Great creamy whip ice cream. Lots of topping options, hard shell dip, flavor adders, and ice cream flavors. Typical diner food, burgers, chili dogs, hot ham n cheese, plenty to choose from. Great little walk up window or sit down inside. Clean picnic tables with umbrellas. Love getting ice cream in the summer here.

Food was great - loved the old-time atmosphere and openness. Service was spot on and the ice-cream dish that was recommended was fabulous!

Would not have been a bad choice - and for sure they have good chicken. But the choice to eat at the Brau Haus was almost like dying and going to heaven. It's a smaller place than I expected. But honestly - get over it really quick. You can not get chicken like they make anywhere I have been - not in Indianapolis. What ever the price I paid to drive there 75 minutes away? It was worth it. We ordered the chicken dinner for 2. And it came with a small portion of slaw..or a salad. Me and the wife are slaw people. And it was small...but really yummy. But not too long after - the star attraction arrived. A large place of chicken, 10 pieces..(not little weenie pieces) and mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans along with a few rolls and butter. The chicken was truly so hot - I had to pace myself eating because you could really see the steam coming off of it. But the skin...and the coating? My grandmother has passed many years ago - but I would have had to tell her she has serious competition. This chicken was surely what they serve if you get lucky enough to end up in heaven. The sides - the green beans and mashed potatoes were crazy good too and plenty warm. Our very pleasant waitress was Dawn and she was there to help with anything we needed. This truly is the tenderest most moist chicken you are going to get. I wanted to enjoy their pie also - but there was just no room in my belly and we were too far from home to cart 3 or 4 big pieces. I plan on taking that trip down I74 on the regular. It's a beautiful drive and quite honestly - Oldenburg is a super great place to visit. And for me - no need to try anyone elses chicken. I know where the best is.

My boyfriend and I both enjoyed our meals and even ordered seconds to go, so we could have it for dinner. The chicken and noodles came with mashed potatoes, corn or green beans, and a roll. You could definitely tell the food was homemade too. Delicious! The Farmhouse Diner isn't a very big restaurant and can get pretty busy. It reminds me of a little country diner where all the local farmers and their wives go to eat breakfast and lunch. The staff is always super friendly and attentive too. We will definitely be going back.

We split their better than anyone else's (even mine) breaded tenderloin sandwich, fried mushrooms (homemade) and later will polish off a piece of homemade carrot cake. The tenderloin was freshly hand battered, as were the mushrooms. The batter was crispy and light, and enrobed a nice thick piece of tenderloin. If you are a tenderloin fan like we are, you gotta try it. Big enough for both of us with some leftover for later. Our takeout bag included salt, ketchup, and plastic ware. What I didn't expect is the bread and butter that they also included! I knew from reading the reviews that every table gets this bread service. I was very impressed that they included it in takeout. We will be back soon, and I hope to try other menu items. But that tenderloin is sooo good, it will definitely be a struggle to order anything else.

They were incredibly quick on getting the meal out to us. Everything was piping hot! Our waitress was good about checking on us and refilling drinks. Also they have bread service and we had fresh hot bread with soft butter prior to getting our meal. My tenderloin was meaty and pretty good, hubby thought it had too much breading. Coleslaw was ok. Onion rings were good. Someone came over to our table to ask if we would like one of their homemade desserts, I am assuming he was the manager. My friends took home a piece of carrot cake and they said it was good. The other offerings they had on this evening were peach cobbler, blackberry cobbler, and a couple different cheesecakes. Overall it was good and we decided we would go back again to try something different on the menu.

Would it be to frank to say, I think McDonald's ice cream is the same or better? We were thrilled, excited and hungry after glancing over the Facebook menu. I was ready for a home made waffle cone and to try a flavor or two. I love when you can get hyped before walking through the doors. You smell that warm vanilla scent in the air and automatically know a homemade ice cream shop is close! This place did have that charm and smelled great from the outside. The line was surprisingly long! A good 12-15 people in front of us. They only had two workers total which was a little time consuming considering they had to ring people out and scoop. We got through it though, all while sweating, so wear shorts! I got the birthday cake flavor with a homemade waffle cone and rainbow sprinkles! My daughter got the Oreo in a waffle cone too. She was the first to get her ice cream and as soon as she did, the cone crumbled in her fingers. I was like how does that even happen? So we had to quickly ask for a cup to flop the waffle cone and ice cream in. The employee noticed and laughed and said ya they're homemade and break easily, but it's waffle chips now. I had the same problem when mine came too. The Cone just crumbled and I needed a cup too, I couldn't believe it. I asked for sprinkles and the employee wasn't sure what she was doing. She tried sprinkling sprinkles onto the ice cream, but they weren't sticking. She then gave me an extra cup with sprinkles in it for me to dip my cone into? That was a first and so I dumped them top of the now crumbled cone in the bowl. The s'mores ice cream had some type of chocolate marshmallow chunks in it that just weren't good. They were chewy and tasted awful. We paid cash while we were there, total was around $15 dollars and we handed over a $50 bill. She handed back $4 and told us to have a nice day! With hesitation I realized the money was not correct and I was like I don't think you gave me the right amount of change and she was like oh ya and quickly fixed it. So all in all, don't waste your money. I'm all about supporting local places but this one might leave you unhappy, It's pricey and poor quality! On to the next ice cream shop we go!
