My wedding was going to be 80% non Korean guests while the other 20% was either Korean church…read moremembers or friends of our parents. I needed an MC who can speak both languages PERFECTLY and be able to entertain our guests during the wedding reception. Where else to turn but Yelp? Luckily I found couple of MC's on Yelp who specializes in weddings and being able to speak both languages fluently. Although Johan wasn't my very first choice, he became my MC because of his fast response and eagerness to perform at our wedding. As a bride without a wedding coordinator, I was very busy dealing with all the different vendors and all the details that goes into a wedding. Future brides, invest in a wedding coordinator if you are NOT having a wedding at a restaurant or have more than 100 guests. Otherwise, you'll end up doing all the work where it's very crucial that the vendor you're interested responds back to your inquires within 24 hours. If Johan didn't respond back to my phone calls or emails within 48 hours, I would've moved on to someone else. However, he was very good at responding back to me and I knew he was the one who would take care of things without having me worry too much. When we met him for the very first time, we both liked his personality and how easy going it was to work with him. We talked about how he'll approach the audience and what types of jokes or games or etc he'll do to gain the "Korean" guests attention throughout the reception. I liked Johan's tactics on the types of games he'll have everyone participating and how those games will flow into our cake cutting time where ALL the guests will be watching us cut the cake! It was very important that the guests don't just eat and leave. Koreans tend to just eat and take the centerpiece and leave the reception even before the cake cutting. Johan first suggested how he's going to come up with the timeline so that no one leaves until the reception is over. Couple weeks later after that meeting, we decided that it's best to have professional lighting at the reception so that our pictures come out better. We had spent more of our wedding budget on our photographer (aside from the food of course) so it was crucial that the photographer had good lightening to work with. Johan also has a team that does lighting and it was convenient to do both the MC and lights through his company. On the day of the reception, I was approached by both Korean guests and friends about how they loved the MC! Everyone was blown away by his singing voice and was very impressed by his performance. At first the guests thought that he was LIP singing but quickly realized that this was his real voice singing LIVE. You want Johan to SING AT YOUR WEDDING!!!! For the most part, all the games grabbed everyone's attending and guests were having a great time. Although the day was a blur to me, I was able to revisit the day by looking through the photo's and seeing the guests laughing and having a good time (See photo) That itself is priceless and anyone having a wedding should definitely invest in hiring Johan as your next MC and consider having professional lighting done at your reception. Trust me, both of these would make a HUGE difference and you won't ever regret having to spend $$$ on these two important things. Spend less on your wedding dress and tux and skip the wedding favors. Johan was so great with communication even though he was in LA and we were in SJ and knew exactly how to plan out the reception timeline, games, toasts, music, etc etc.. One of the winning factors was that he was a bilingual Korean wedding MC - as the wedding catered toward 40% Korean speakers and 60% English speakers. On the day of the wedding, we were actually all blown away because he started out singing to quiet the guests before the wedding party entrance and completely WOW - ed the crowd.. I mean.. WOW!!! I also appreciated the fact that Johan was able to time the reception and mood of the guests and change things around accordingly. One of the cool perks they have is the ability to use a web interface to select the playlist you'd like for the wedding including your top "Must Have" songs as opposed to just writing it down on a paper hoping it's played. The props were minimal (which I liked!) and fit my theme. Everything was just perfect. Communication for months prior to the event was great. We booked SBL to do the entire lighting for our wedding at South Park Center in DTLA and we could not be happier with their work! Right off the bat, we could tell Angel has a passion for lighting and that he genuinely loves what he does. He doesn't just throw up the lights and walk away. He personally controls the lights throughout the entire event to create a unique light show that dynamically reacts to the moment -- think of him as a professional DJ for lighting. We've talked to a lot of lighting vendors but have not seen anyone else offer anything like it. From the initial meeting, through signing the contract, to the actual event and all the way until takedown, Angel has been nothing but extremely professional. He even personally took the initiative to overcome some crucial last minute logistical hurdles we encountered with the venue, which saved us a ton of headaches during the week of the big day. In terms of equipment, we booked 4 intelligent moving heads on 5ft light-up trusses for the main dancefloor, along with 24 LED up-lights for the rest of the event space per Angel's recommendation. During reception at sunset, 2 heads acted as spotlights while the others projected an elegant spinning pattern on the ceiling. Once the sun went down and the dance floor opened up, we were completely blown away by how all the lights worked together to transform the venue into a high-end nightclub in the sky. We were especially impressed by how the lights came alive under Angel's control - from the way they aptly adapted to various activities of the evening, to how they reacted dynamically to the changing beat of the music to create an electrifying atmosphere. It's impossible to describe how good the lights looked, so I've uploaded a few videos of them in action - hopefully they show up. Similar to another reviewer, we were initially going to cheap out on lights, but we are so glad we listened to Angel and booked the equipment he recommended. It was easily one of the best decisions we've made for the wedding. I'm honestly shocked that SBL isn't fully booked 6 months out because they are such a hidden gem for their caliber of work for what they're charging. Many other lighting vendors quoted us 1.5-2x for similar packages, and I doubt they could've done it better. He even went out of his way to bring a red carpet for the photo zone. I requested him to play some funny games he probably never heard of but he managed to pull it off like it was his. Fast forward to 2019, we were planning our son's first Birthday and Teething Party. We reached out to them to hire them for the party. They were so accommodating and just easy to work with. Getting in touch with them to discuss the details was not an issue at all as they were very accessible. But aside from that they really went out of their way to stay in touch with me to make sure I was okay with all the changes, add-on's, and signs for the photos. The price was very reasonable compared to other companies and they try to work with you to figure out the package that fits best for your event. The day of the party arrived and the photo booth was no longer a booth. 'Photobuzz LA' completely upgraded their entire setup and it was amazing. The lighting for the pictures was superb. The absence of all the props that create a messy look was gone. The options available for each picture were limitless. Not to mention the worker who came out was extremely nice and patient with the guests that took a little longer with their photos than normal. The company provides you with a memory book as well and ships it to your home free of cost. They provide you with a tracking number to receive updates. Today it's very hard to find vendors who really go out of their way to provide convenience to their customers. Our experience was great the first time, but even better the second time.
