My future mother in law simply took a sip at the front register (before paying) then the cashier said something like you have to pay to drink that. Which makes since but he said it in a very mean way and my in law thought that he was joking at first then he continued to be mean throughout the transaction with about 6 standing there and then on the way out my in law says have a nice night and says you could be a little bit nicer to your customers then he continued to say exactly this "get the hell out of my store" repeatedly swearing us out. He said in front of many minors in our group. Then continued to stare at us walking down the street like he was watching tv. Another guy that works there is a W he kinda looks like a lumberjack but very nice and the guy that makes the food there in the back is great no doubt. But I do not recommend coming here for anything other than the food in the back.

Yeah...like Pepsi or Coke but instead nightcrawlers...crazy....see the pic. Beer galore, snacks, little trinkets for the kids, and hats and such that'll do in a pinch if you need some shade while you're on the water. What I loved about this place was the couple that runs it and the great subs they turn out there (I didn't try the pizza but I'm sure it's great). My Ham and Cheese was pretty ordinary looking but the bun, meat and cheese were all really tasty and fresh. I have it on good authority that the Greek Goddess sandwich was pretty killer with feta, olives and stacked meat, and the Italian sub looked great too. It's behind the marina so walking over from the slip is convenient to stock up and carry back. A great little outpost!

By far the best burger that I've had here ( and considering my praise for Beachy's burger, that is high praise indeed). Not the traditional "cheeseburger", the Old Glory burger is exceptional. The magical jam with onion straws, bacon and bbq sauce makes all the difference. They say "no additional toppings needed" and they are right.

Upon check out we asked the hostess and she let us know that both are owned by the same people, similar breakfast menus but varying lunch menus. To re-iterate, since Hazel's isn't on yelp, this is a positive review for breakfast at Hazel's by Cafe 53.

The eggs came out hard with cheese on top, the bacon was too crispy and the hashbrowns were burnt in places. I ate half the bacon and half the hashbrowns. I love the seasonal bulk area out front and always fine nothing I came for in large quantities. Sells some of my favorite kitchen goods, frying pans, canning items, random but necessary kitchen tools and Christian gift items. Then the meat and cheese section- the heaven of fats, nitrates, and dairy- they have everything. You name it from Dearborn sausages to yoders dairy- my favorite Minerva rolled butter and bulk sandwich meats. Then the dry goods section and everything bobs red mill you could dream of! A huge natural oils and soaps section. Plus great canned foods, pie fillings and natural peanut butters. Oh and I didn't even talk about the freezer sections- build chicken, burgers, fish and all the things . If you can't tell I LOVE this store! It is worth the drive if you are looking to stock up the house!

There were meats and multitudes of fruits and veggies straight from the farm. Too bad it's well over an hour drive from my home, otherwise I'd be here at least weekly. PROS: Some of the best prices I've seen on bacon, ham, sausages, various cheese, lunch meat, bulk flours and popcorn kernels. There are tremendous discounts on other packaged foods close to expiration date. Nice selection of smaller brand goods throughout entire store. Great candy selection, including hard to find German black licorice ropes rolled into little wheels. Lots of other licorice flavors too. Local milk in big glass jars. Log rolls of fresh butter. Various local honey, jellies, and jams. Homemade peanut butter ground in-house. Homemade pickles in white tubs. 50 pound sacks of Michigan white potatoes. Jabba the Hut sized hubbard squash. Lots of hidden deals within the frozen food section...six New York bagels @ $3.99...five pounds of pepper-jack breaded chicken breast chunks at $10.99. A special shout-out to the BEST in-store bakery I've ever seen. Most everything is made from scratch; breads, fruit pies, cream pies, fried hand pies in wax paper sleeves, various cookies, donuts, etc. They have the BEST cinnamon rolls and pecan sticky buns on this Earth (see pics). These are worth the drive alone. Note the ingredients are simple with King Arthur flour as the base. Great prices too. One of the best deli hot food counters I've ever seen. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravies, various hot vegetables, etc. Great prices. Looks like grandma made it all. In addition to the deli counter, there is a separate in-store cafeteria selling great lunch style foods like Reuban sandwiches, hamburgers, chicken fingers, fries, soups, etc. They cooked my hamburger in a cast iron pan on an old iron stove. Delicious! Great price too. The staff were extremely polite, helpful, and pleasant. Love the old fashioned check-out counters. They hand bag everything too. CONS: Too far from my home. Cramped aisles. Like any grocery store, not all the prices can compete with Wal-Mart. SUMMARY: Need a break from urban attitude? This is a no-brainer choice. Feels like walking back in time when people were nicer and food was better. Load up and drive out to the country, pretend it's a mini-vacation.

Historically, they have a simulated kitchen and what it look like during the time they have different vehicles that were used at the time and they have a schematic of the barn in wooden form. To stand in the barn is a breathtaking experience. You also have the opportunity to walk into the families home and see how they lived during that time. This property is perfect for a field trip if you're looking to teach kids about that time as well as what it took to sustain that type of property this is a great place to check out after you have viewed the petroglyphs in the area. My kids were on the bumper boats for 3 minutes before it started pouring, and we were unfortunately on the way out of town. I spoke to the lady at the counter who called the manager, who had to call the owner. She took down my information and I haven't heard from anyone. I told them that I would like the refund given the circumstances but understand if they couldn't do that but to let me know as the had offered to validate the tickets for the following year. I followed up with an email to the place on 8/15 because the owner did not follow up and I still have yet to hear from them.
