For some time now, I have needed to de-stress and energize. I arrived on Friday at noon and was…read morewelcomed by Jose who did not just check me in, but rather took the time to understand what I was looking for. He showed me around and took me to my room to settle in. The room was cozy and spotlessly clean. At 1 PM I went to the dining room for lunch, where I met other guests who had arrived a few days before me. Everyone was so welcoming. Lunch was delicious and quite filling. At 2 PM I had my first treatment with Melba. I had chosen the Rest & Relaxation Retreat and I loved every second of my massage, the Nasya and that day I had the steam. I learned the steam, where I was very comfortable, was detoxing me. What a wonderful feeling! That evening I had yoga with Emily. A sweet, beautiful young lady. It was my first time doing yoga and she was so patient, letting me know she wanted me to feel comfortable performing the poses. After the class I felt so accomplished and then it was time for dinner. Again, an amazing meal. I did not feel full but did feel very satisfied. I slept so well that night I missed my yoga class at 8 am. Really wish I hadn't overslept or at least had set the alarm clock. Emily also taught that class. I was able to join her and the other guests for breakfast. My second treatment was with Malati. Like Melba, Malati took her time with my massage. I love the oils and my ability to relax with not a care in the world. This time I chose the warm oil drip. Not kidding! Out of this world! That evening we had our cooking class. Eula was amazing, teaching us every step of making 5 dishes. She explained the process, the herbs and we were lucky they have their own herb garden. We each had a dish to make but we all helped each other. Although we were all strangers, the ambiance promoted comradery and a feeling of being with family. I included a picture of us after we prepared our meal. Did I mention the unlimited tea? Another amazing nights sleep! This is huge for me because I had been having problems sleeping for a couple of months. Don't know if it was due to the food, yoga or my massages but I slept undisturbed and woke up feeling refreshed and energized. That morning I was able to make the yoga class at 8 AM. To my surprise, our instructor was Richard, who founded this retreat in 2001. Richard worked us through meditation, stretches, yoga poses and guided us to chakra meditation. He played guitar and sang to us uplifting melodies that touched my soul. I am so glad I finally took a step towards my well-being. I learned so much about peace and harmony and how to make it a part of my existence. I have been meditating every morning since and my days are filled with affinity I didn't know was in me. Thank You my Ayurveda Health Retreat family! I hope to come back soon. I loved every moment and I want to tell the world! Cooking class Saturday night with friends!

I didn't know what to expect or how exactly this week would rejuvenate me but my experience here transcended any expectations one could have. The loving and nurturing environment at the center calms your nervous system and it feels like you're wrapped in a warm hug the entire time you're there. From every interaction with staff members, to each treatment I received, the attendees and conversations - everything felt like it was addressing the needs of my soul and body both. The highlight was the incredibly nourishing and tasty meals - I hadn't known food that is good for your body can also be so yummy. There may be many such "retreat" options, and before arriving here I had thought I'd explore different options the next time. But I am already signed up to return to this center because the more intimate setting feels like you're being taken care of by family, with the sincerest focus on your health and well-being (there is no pressures of up-sells and add-ons, but they are all there if you need it). After returning home, I have been able to continually move towards cooking and enjoying healthier meals -- instead of a temporary diet, I see this now as a way of life. This transformation took place not just for physical health, but the inflections that took place for my personal growth journey have also created a lasting impact. This retreat wasn't a "break" from life but rather a "realignment" in life.

Pure Aesthetics is the best hidden gem of Gainesville. I spent the last decade moving around and…read moretraveling throughout the nation and have had aesthetic treatments at so many med spas and salons that I have lost count. Pure Aesthetics is hands down one of the highest quality experiences you will ever receive. From the moment you walk in the door, there are multiple receptionists who began greeting me by name on only my second visit. The atmosphere immediately calms you when you walk into the lobby, you will feel like you are about to have a massage! They always offer water, champagne, or a collagen drink (even if you are running late to your appointment, like I have unfortunately done more than once!) I can only speak to the services of Kelsey (electrolysis) and Lindsey (Coolsculpting Elite) from personal experience, but I am fully confident in saying that my experience every single appointment over the past few months is indicative of the entire staff. I cannot exclaim my praise for either of these women loudly enough. No matter what area of the body you would like to learn more about treatment for, everyone at Pure Aesthetics has an in-depth knowledge of the services offered and will never pressure you into booking a treatment or purchasing a product whatsoever. I was especially impressed to learn that all staff members that offer treatments must work the front desk for a period of time to learn how the office (and schedule) operates and to interact with the clients. I think this is the greatest idea from a Human Resources perspective (which I happen to have my Bachelor's degree in ) and ensures that any information given over the phone is well-informed, and not simply a reiteration of the menu of services offered which you can read for yourself online. If you are seeking a treatment of an area but are not quite sure if you'd like to go the surgical route, the building is shared with Gaines Plastic Surgery. I cannot personally attest to Dr. Gaines, as I have not had any surgeries at this location, but this is truly an incredible partnership that allows clients to pursue all their aesthetic or cosmetic procedures in one place, with staff they are already comfortable with greeting them and offering a plethora of experience, knowledge, and services along the way. Lastly, I feel it would be remiss not to mention the personal touch and genuine care that the staff has for each and every client. A few months ago, I had a personal emergency which left me without my cell phone, and I ended up "no-call, no-show-ing" two appointments in a row. Instead of blocking me from scheduling further appointments, both Kelsey and Lindsey showed immediate, unwavering care and concern and welcomed me back to my appointments as soon as I was able to make contact again. Of course, I hope such an incident never happens to anyone else, but many Med Spas that I know of would enforce a strict cancellation policy with no questions asked, but not here. When I come here, I know that I'm not only trusting my body with experts and professionals at their specialties, but trusting my overall wellbeing to a team that genuinely wants to see everyone look, feel, and achieve their best. I recommend anyone who is even considering a treatment at Pure Aesthetics to visit the website and at a minimum, get on the email list, as there is a new special each month, and the treatment you're eyeing might be next on the list for a discount! Special or not, my experiences here have been worth every penny!

I would recommend GMOS to anyone, and everyone. Dr. Cindi Larimer, and her staff, are just a…read morepleasure to meet with and the results that I have had with them are simply amazing. Like a lot of you, I have tried almost every diet there is: Atkins, South Beach, NutriSystem, WW, some very strange ones, and even a number of the other clinics listed on Yelp. As a stubborn male, I was somewhat hesitant to admit that I was severely overweight: let's face it, at 280 pounds, I was morbidly obese. I had been putting off hip surgery for two years because I needed to lose weight to have the surgery --- and I could not lose weight, no matter what I tried! Finally, I went to my family doctor and admitted that I needed help, that I needed a referral to a weight-loss clinic or a nutritionist. I think that's what he had been waiting for; my willingness to admit that I had a weight problem. He immediately sent me to GMOS and Dr. Larimer. I am so glad that he did. Everything else that I had tried had seemed to be a little bit like psuedo-science; they had the miracle cure, quick results guaranteed, and a lot of talk to convince you that they, as opposed to everyone else, were not a con just out to take your money. Dr. Larimer was different, and surprisingly so to me. First, she was an actual medical doctor with many years of practice and experience. Second she is the only Board Certified Obesity Specialist in Florida. Third, she explained the recognized science behind her program: as a scientist myself, I could understand and follow the logic and rationale of her program and appreciated dealing with facts, not platitudes. Fourth, she did not promise any miracles, and even explained why some people simply can not lose weight, especially if they had tried off-and-on dieting many times over the years. Her dedication to the science of obesity and weight loss is what really impressed me. She was not interested in signing me up just to get my money --- she wanted me as a patient only if she thought that I might benefit from her program. She is first and foremost, a doctor: given my age, she had one of her staff administer an EKG, and then she verified that I had no abnormal heartbeat, before she would agree to accept me into her program. And I have benefited from her program. I have now lost 80 pounds and I am well on my weigh (pun intended) to meeting my weight goal. I feel better, I look better, and I am much more active, even with a bad hip. The only downside is that I have gotten rid of almost all of my old clothes in the closet and have had to go out and shop for new clothes (which can be "sort of fun" if it means getting smaller and smaller sizes over time). However, the most important point that I have learned from her is that I am going to have to be aware of my eating habits, and the trade-offs that can be made, for the rest of my life. If, once I reach my goal, I simply return to my old eating/drinking habits, and consume large amounts of sugar/alcohol/carbs, it would not be too long before I was once again up to 280.
