They also don't give you all information when you get your plan (teeth work done). I had one price and when I came for the work it was a different price. Which I told her that she needed to give all that information in the beginning, which she failed. Also I need 3 fills and the front had only scheduled for 2. They need to pay more attention to detail at the front. The room had this odor, was kinda gross. I was very disappointed in how the experience went. The guy that did my fillings was a little too rough and made my cheek sore and puffy. I've had these done a few times and I could tell he was being a bit too rough. Never ever had puffy cheeks from a filling. Note to anyone make weekend appointments.

I am very disappointed with North Star Dental and dentist Pham. She is so incompetent and…read moreunprofessional. She was just doing a sales job instead of being a dentist. My routine cleaning appt.was at 2:30 pm. By the time I was called in, it was 3 pm. Everybody was so disorganized in that office. Pham came in and pushed for me to get X-Rays done even though I have already emailed them all the X-Rays that were taken 2 days ago from my orthodontist office. I told her I went to see him for my root canal that was infected..she was pestering me to replace my root canal with her. I reminded her that I just came here for a routine dental cleaning only. After that, she started pushing for me to get deep cleaning instead of routine cleaning even before measuring my gum pockets. I told her again, I just wanted routine cleaning. She did not stop...she asked one of the front desk staff to check with my insurance on deep cleaning. By now, it's 4 pm already and nothing has been done to clean my teeth. One of the staff came in and told me that it will cost me $281 out of pocket to do deep cleaning on the left side of my mouth and that Pham will take 45 mins to 1 hr to complete the deep cleaning. After that she will take another 30 mins to finish routine cleaning on the right side of my mouth which was fully covered by my dental insurance. Finally, Pham came in to do the deep cleaning at around 4:15pm and she was done cleaning the entire mouth in 30 mins. I immediately told her that I was very disappointed with the cleaning she did. It did NOT feel like deep cleaning or routine cleaning. All my previous routine cleaning lasted at least 45 mins to 1 hrs. I have done deep cleaning in my younger days and it was nothing like this... This was what I expected when I signed up for deep cleaning on the left side of my mouth but the incompetent dentist Pham DID NONE OF THIS: 1. Measuring the gap between my teeth and gums with a periodontal probe 2. Inject local anesthetic into your gums to ensure you don't feel any pain during the treatment. 3. Use a dental tool to remove tartar from BELOW your gum line. 4. It will take AT LEAST an hour to do half the mouth All she did was use a scalar tool and scraped my entire mouth without any pressure... Typically, you will feel your gums sore after a deep cleaning. All I felt was my teeth had not been cleaned and did not feel any soreness after her so-called deep cleaning either. It's a shame that North Star Dental has such an incompetent dentist like Pham. BTW, she was busy chatting with her assistant the whole time about her wedding, school and children instead of focusing on the patient during the so-called deep cleaning process. PLS DO NOT LET JENNIFER THO PHAM TOUCH YOUR MOUTH. SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE PATIENT. SHE IS ONLY INTERESTED IN RIPPING THE PATIENT OFF. SHE IS THE WORST DENTIST I HAVE ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE!!!!

Smileworks attempted a classic bait and switch on me today. Yesterday, I went in to see if my…read moreinsurance covered a traditional cleaning and the receptionist took my card and then ran it through a desktop device and stated it was covered "100%. I said great and made an appointment for a cleaning the next day. I came in at the appointed time and filled out the normal information. They did not ask for a credit card which confirmed to me that the insurance coverage was confirmed again by them. The dental hygenist did an admirable and professional job. As I was leaving the receptionist declared that there would be an $80 charge. I said, no I was told my cleaning was covered by insurance as I was told yesterday. The receptionist seemed uncomfortable and too quickly said let me get the office manager. I retold my story and the office manager said well this was a different cleaning. I replied I sat in the chair for 45 minutes and no one came in to say, oh, by the way, you need a more extensive cleaning and that will be $80 in addition to the "insurance". Do you agree to this upcharge? That simply did not happen. They concluded this guy is elderly so we will intimidate him. I was never given the option to decline, ask what was different between cleaning A, B, or other, etc. it was a classic bait and switch. I am not so easily kowtowed and defrauded. I stated I will not pay for something I did not agree to or was even advised of the possibility of an additional charge. The office manager said she would send my account to collection. Fine, this is a malicious, false, and, at a minimum a contested matter. If a collection agency is not properly advised that the account was immediately contested under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, we enter new grounds for a court to consider. BBB, State Dental licensing complaint, the number of contact points are numerous when you try to defraud and intimidate the elderly.

5/9/24: I had a terrible experience with this office, particularly with the front desk personnel…read more Unbeknownst to me, I was referred to this office by the VA. My case manager called on 5/8 at 3:54pm, and advised that this office had been trying to reach me to set up an appointment. They mislead my case manager. Their extent of "trying to reach me" was ONE call on 5/8, at 3:37pm, they did NOT leave a voice mail, and the number showed up on my phone as "Discover". I told my case manager that I had not received any calls from this office, and she said that the office had been trying to reach me. I called the office on 5/8 at 3:55pm and let them know they apparently had called the same day that my case manager called, and that was the only call that I had missed. A female gave me attitude and asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment. I told her that I would reach out to my case manager and would call them back. I called the dentist office the next day, and whomever answered said that that I needed to contact the VA to go somewhere else. What I surmise happened was that the first representative I spoke with on 5/8 didn't like being called out on a lie, and told a story to her manager and they basically blackballed me. I called the the VA back and was set up with another dental office nearby. Looking at prior reviews, the dentists may be great, but in my experience, whomever is making calls out to prospective patients lacks integrity and professionalism.
