I went to try La Michoacana that is inside the market. It took forever to be helped, the lady there was in the back of the kitchen and didn't notice us. Then the owner came from behind the cash register on the other side to help. I said I wanted a scoop of ice cream and noticed he didn't even wash his hands, he just rinsed the scoop. He was working the cash register before he came to the ice cream counter so his hands have to have been filthy from touching money and ringing stuff up. That was the first red flag. And then for the biggest red flag when he went to touch the ice cream with the scoop it was so runny and melted. We walked out immediately. I would not trust those freezers! Just from the few minutes we were there, I could tell this place is unsanitary. I wouldn't eat or buy anything from here. read more

I went in today around noon a purchased a large menudo. I was very excited to have it. When I got home I added the onion and cilantro and sat down to eat it but I was shocked. It looked like menudo but I honestly do not know what that was. But .... THAT WAS NOT MENUDO. It had no flavor it was really weird. Cool market and nice people here! I was only going to get a lotto ticket here but saw that they had a hot food station so i decided on a asada burrito to take home. I think around $8 dollars or so but it was really really good with the red sauce. The hot station for sure the star of the show here. They have your average items just like any other store. Went in to check it out and the carnecería part is pretty gross. The meat was browning, and looked old. There were plenty of flies around the food area. Also, the tacos were not good from the restaurant. Plenty of other places in Riverside you should eat at. There were large tortillas that had huge mold circles on them. I went to the store when they first opened and the owner promised me they would soon have a La Michoacána ice cream parlor and a carniceria that has excellent meat. Well he came through with what he had told me within 2 weeks, My daughter loved the ice cream, and the ranchera was amazing, and the yellow marinated chicken was so tasty, I really like the red marinated chicken though.. it is sooo good. The chips are seasoned perfectly and have that perfect crunch to them! The salsa is very good also. What a great place!! Glad I live only minutes away. read more

So I'll start with the pros! The two men who are usually there, I feel like they might be in charge, they're amazing . They always greet you and are so attentive. Super helpful and the food is really good. Got tacos today and I loved them. I ordered them over the phone and the gentleman taking my order , super nice . Now the cons, employee customer service. I go in with my fiancé,there's two women in the kitchen that both see us, not a word. We're probably standing there for 5 minutes before my fiancé needs to go ask the man at the register if our food is ready and it was . He was really nice. I go back and approach one of the women and ask for "green salsa" and she just stares at me until the other women comes up and asks what I need, I ask for salsa verde and limes. She says okay and I stand there another five minutes maybe while she's working on other plates, scooping asada and packing orders while she's literally RIGHT next to the salsas and cut limes. This isn't the first time this woman ignores customers . The first time she helped me out she ignored me for again about five minutes until another man comes up to the counter and right away she helps him and doesn't acknowledge me until her boss signals her to help me. It's pathetic. I love this market but the ladies, especially the one with the heavy make up, nope. She needs to go. We come hear regularly because the food is good. Almost everything we tried is so good. The only reason I gave 4 stars is the salsa is always way too salty or bitter. Great new Place!!! It's new and small but the chips are REALLY good. I asked the Cashier if they were hard because I'm a chips and salsaholic and I actually broke a tooth on the chips at Vons. He looked at me and said, 'They're chips.' I realized that I sounded crazy. So I go home and the salsa is GREAT!!!! I tried two kinds and they were both really good. I'm only giving a one star based on the food at the taqueria. The store itself are great and so is the customer service. However the quality is extremely disappointing. I tried this place when it first opened and was disappointed then but figured some time had passed and maybe some things had changed but they did not. The carne asada tacos looked like and tasted like unseasoned ground beef. That really is not an over exaggeration. I ended up just feeding them to my dogs. The pastor torta had stale bread that just broke apart and the taste was over powered with sour cream. The meat itself was mediocre at best. The rice was plain terrible but the beans were pretty good. I've seen three taqueria's set up shop at this location and one was even featured on LA news and neither of them made it. I would love to see every business succeed however I can't see this place really making it with all of the other quality Taqueria's around town. read more
