We were here for a friend's party. It is a tiny hidden gem with brilliant food and service! I haven't eaten so much food in the longest time. Their portion size is fine but the contents are quite filling. We had a party menu and I chose these: Nibbles - Hummus + pita bread Starters - Briouat (pastry with a filling of brie and goat's cheese) Calamari Mains - Tajine zitoune (chicken breast in lemon sauce) and a side of cous cous Dessert - Baklava Tend to nibble a lot on the pita bread, which fills up tummy space reserved for other food. Fantastic food, served piping hot and on gorgeous earthenware. Only disappointment would have to be the baklava. Staff is cheerful and extremely friendly. We had a good banter with them. Small, very cozy restaurant with appropriate lighting and decor. Can get slightly squishy if you are in a big group. More a place for smaller groups of 4-5 people.

I'll let these just speak for themselves

One of my all time favourite restaurants in London. Tiny, cozy, and full of flavour, this place is somewhere I try and visit every time in town. BEST hummus I've ever had. Seriously I have daydreams about this hummus and it's awful because I have to fly to London to get it. Other high lights of the menu for me are the falafel and tagine romanne-- on the sweet side, full of pomegranate and roasted almonds. YUM I die. Please do your taste buds a favour and VISIT. Also noticed someone said this place was over priced-- ITS NOT.

New review from Nov 2019:…read more This is my second visit here and far more disappointing. The reason is the waiter/owner was grumpy and when I asked for a takeaway box for the moyin moyin he actually scowled! Wow. The moyin moyin is quite flavourful but the jollof rice is a real disappointment. I've had far better in Ghana. Two years ago: I popped into here for lunch around 1:30pm today and whilst the owner could have been friendlier in greeting me (a smile doesn't hurt ya know), I appreciated him coming outside the restaurant to hand me my takeaway food where I had waited in the lovely sun for my order. The interior is quite small with only a couple of tables with lovely African sculptures all around. There is chalkboard of specials along with the regular menu. Sadly the sweet potato balls were sold out so I got the moin moin and the spinach stew. All together less than a tenner. There are four pieces of moin moin, which are just deliciously savoury. I recommend eating them with the nonspicy spinach stew with melon seed, which, whilst not delicious, was tasty and filling. It would be perfect on a cold winter night. If I was in the area, I would return just for the moin moin!

London's vast food scene felt intimidating as a first-timer, but one name kept surfacing: Ikoyi. It defies easy classification, perhaps because there's nothing else like it. I managed to snag a week-of lunch reservation and opted for the condensed lunch tasting menu (though the full version is also offered midday). The progression of dishes grew steadily on me, and by the end, I was especially captivated with the desserts, where the interplay of heat and sweetness sang. The meal began with a rich gola pepper chicken broth. I skipped alcohol and chose a Da Hong Pao oolong, floral and earthy, which paired beautifully. I found the tempura-style turbot with bright crab salad to be a textural delight, and the aged beef rib with their signature smoked jollof rice and lobster custard met expectations. Pepper appeared in many forms and shown most for me in the dessert: Jasmine sorbet warmed with chili oil, peppercorn mousse over brown butter ice cream and ginger cake, and sweet melon offset with unexpected numbing spice. Service was warm and conversational, though timing between courses was noticeably slow. When I mentioned my plans to explore cocktail bars, a manager returned with a handwritten list of some favorites. I also loved the design of the space, it was sculptural yet comforting, reflecting the same balance of discipline and warmth that defined the food. Overall I enjoyed my experience, and though I wouldn't say I necessarily craved any dish afterward, the menu stretched my palate in ways few meals do. Ikoyi was inventive and quietly bold. Next time, I will opt for the full tasting menu.
