Avoid Dr. Azim Presswala. Zero stars. Deplorable service and a doctor who gives all other dentists a bad name. I went to him with clear symptoms of a dental issue--significant pain and a visible swelling on my gum. Instead of taking it seriously or performing a thorough evaluation, he dismissed my concerns and told me it was not a dental problem. When I tried to advocate for myself, I was told I could go to Marquette's dental school so they could "tell me the same thing" because I was wrong. Being spoken to that way while in pain was not only dismissive, but completely unprofessional. Because I wasn't properly treated, I had to seek care elsewhere and was eventually given antibiotics by my primary doctor. The problem improved temporarily but was never resolved. Now, nearly a year later, I am dealing with the exact same issue in the exact same location. A different dentist has since confirmed that the tooth requires a ROOT CANAL--meaning the dental infection was there ALL along and was missed. This experience delayed proper treatment and caused unnecessary pain and stress. No patient should be dismissed or spoken to this way when they are seeking help. I would not trust this provider with my care and strongly recommend going ANYWHERE else if you want to be taken seriously. Thanks a-lot again Azim Presswala. BEWARE - DO NOT GO HERE! Azim Presswala is rude, inconsiderate, and completely unfit to do his job. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB. I have a severe infection in my mouth that continues to swell and worsen. He dismissed it as a sinus issue without properly examining me. Thankfully, my PCP prescribed antibiotics after two visits, but now I'm forced to find a new dentist because he refuses to even see me. What kind of doctor does that? Not only did he fail to inspect my gums, but he also mocked my pain and was shockingly rude during the mere five minutes he spent with me. Do not go to this dentist unless you have no choice. I am disclaiming here that this is exclusively about the behavior of Dr Presswala, each and every one of his assistants were so incredibly kind and helpful. Anyway, I needed an extraction of all 4 wisdom teeth and I have never been met with such a harsh, uncaring, inconsiderate health professional. To begin with he had to put shots in my mouth. I do struggle with shots but I was barely moving and sitting still for him to do them. At the end I was grabbing at the waistband of my pants out of stress and my breathing may have picked up some but I truly do not believe I did anything to interfere with his work. Once he was finished with the shots and out of my mouth I began breathing heavy and was having a lot of anxiety, tons of shots in your mouth hurt man! Plus I waited until he was done to react, however, this made Dr Presswala frustrated regardless? He kept saying how me hyperventilating was not necessary and that I was fine. I thought that was pretty rude, if you're health professional youre meant to care about your patients and have instict to comfort them but oh well, I wasn't effected by this guy being a jerk yet so I didnt even think twice about it. Apparently when he went to get my boyfriend to calm me down he was all irritated about it too? But anyway I calm down pretty quickly and im talking to one of the assistants when he finally comes back and when he walks in he cuts me off and goes "stop talking." Rude but oh well and I laid down, then he goes "if theres any drama ill stop the procedure and you'll have to leave and find an oral surgeon." That is not the way you treat your patients who are scared. I am a Healthcare professional myself and you go into this field to take care of people, this guy very evidently could not care less about the patients and only cares about the money the job comes with. Threatening to kick me out mid procedure when I did nothing to interfere with what he did the first time is extremely unprofessional and plain mean. Im a scared 20 year old girl and this is a grown man, I did nothing to be treated this way. Anyway we continue with the procedure, I dont move as to not "inconvenience" the guy... during the procedure he was extremely rough, grabbing my face around, just hammering on my mouth with his tools. And yeah wisdom teeth extractions ain't fun I get that, but when I told people this story I got responses from multiple people saying their dentist was really gentle and had night and day stories compared to mine. I've had teeth pulled before, molars even, and my normal dentist was so nice about it! Dr Presswala is aggressive and uncaring with how he does his work, plain and simple. He was also clearly flimsy with his hand cause he cut my throat and lip with his drill. I think most people when they make a mistake like that at least apologize or mention that it happened. He didnt even acknowledge it happened, and normally this wouldn't have been something id even notice but it is just further evidence of the manner in which this individual treats his patients. Onto a slightly different topic, it is to my understanding that this guy treats people with badgercare pretty often. I strongly believe he treats people the way they does because he accepts a large demographic of low income people. He isnt making as much money as taking normal insurance, he doesnt feel that he has to be nice or give these patients a good experience. He is doing something "kind" for them so he doesnt have to be professional, right? This is such an awful and harmful business practice. If you do not want to take jobs you get less payment for, dont. If you think you are owed something because you were oh so gracious to take in low income clients, just dont take them in in the first place and let a better person in the world take on that role. People who are less financially fortunate should not have to be tormented because this dentist made the choice to accept low income situations. I am a girl in college, I have no other choice but to have state insurance right now. That does not mean I deserve less and should be treated like this. Do not go here. My daughter went in for wisdom teeth removal. The desk staff was super friendly. The Dr came back and he doesn't have a great bedside manner, which I can typically handle if you're a good practitioner. They started the nitrous oxide and numbed her up, and soon they came to get me because she was screaming. She said she was in horrible pain. They had taken one out, no issues, but on the other side of the mouth had pain. He left for a few minutes so I could calm her down. When he came back, he attempted to numb her more and without waiting went back into attempting to pull it as she screamed. He kept telling me there was no way she could feel it, it was just pressure. we stopped the procedure and he recommended an oral surgeon instead. All of this could happen anywhere..... but what happened next was disappointing. We asked the assistant if the tooth was secure or at risk of falling out.... He told the dental assistant he didn't know because she was screaming. Didn't come back to check on it or look. I called an oral surgeon immediately after leaving and they asked if repeat X-rays had been done after the procedure, and recommended I return for him to do the X-rays. I wasn't taking her back there. I called to tell them Id be filing a formal complaint and ask to be refunded for the gas, which they declined. The office manager called me back and insinuated that I only threatened to write a review because they declined to offer the refund. if that was the case, I certainly wouldn't have immediately taken her to another dentist emergently to have a new set of X-rays taken that I will be paying out of pocket for. I am disgusted that rather than apologize for the failed follow though, that the office manager decided to instead argue with me instead. I wish I had read the reviews before going there. read more

Has no home training whatsoever. Bet his parents didn't discipline him when he was a child because he can't control his temper and has agressive personality. He should've gotten a job as Drill Sargent or Correctional Officer and not a dentist! Left my teeth bleeding and I had trouble eating solid food for 2 weeks! He pays people for fake reviews. Please watch out for 5 star reviews on Google. His REAL reviews are usually 1-2 stars. He even gives honest customers responses revealing his tactlessness and lack of empathy. As a reference, I'm an educated man who has been reduced to a second-class citizen in the eyes of many healthcare providers. Through no fault of my own, I've suffered decades of debilitating health issues, which now include dental health issues. Not being able to work, I receive BadgerCare+/Forward Health insurance, so my options are rather limited in terms of healthcare providers as well as the care they provide. But this Dr. Azim Presswala was not only a rude, unprofessional, unsympathetic, uncaring doctor, he was also, inexplicably, a terrible, absolutely apathetic human being. Why? It makes no sense when a good person/patient who suffers daily with chronic illness now has to be subjected to demeaning care by a dentist who has no desire to provide proper care. Again, why? Ironically, I've been a customer service advocate my entire life. I even considered writing a book on the subject. Unfortunately, this Dr. Presswala is the epitome of bad customer service/healthcare. He was not gentle at all and pulled my tooth while it was infected and I had to go get antibiotics from the er. At first I thought it was just his manor but after I talk to other doctors I believe he likes to see his patients in pain because I wasn't even totally numb and he pulled my tooth out and told me not to cry. Heartless. I hate to see bad in anyone and I tried to look on the best but now I have no feeling in one of my teeth in the front. I came to Dr. Presswalla to have a top denture made and at first thought him capable which is probably why I made it through 3 appointments. However, he is abrupt to the point of rudeness. I put up with it as I thought we were communicating through his technicians. When I saw the model of my denture, I realized he is either unwilling or unable to put the necessary time and effort into his work. At my last appointment, when I tried on the wax model, he put it in my mouth, handed me the mirror and I smiled BIG. They were absolutely ghastly. Like something a ventriloquists dummy would wear. Each 'tooth' was the exact same size and shape-square. I had previously expressed concerns about the color which was too yellow for my skin tone, but was the brightest shade he made available, (why, he doesn't have a wider variety, I can't guess.) I told him that I could never wear them and that I preferred my current plate that is missing two 'teeth' and is horribly uncomfortable because it would completely change the way I look. He told me "What do you expect? You have Medicaid." I currently wear dentures and understand the process by which they are made and I also know that they CAN be made to look beautiful (like the ones I've been wearing for 6 years), even when paid for by medicaid. I never leave reviews but honestly I was shocked at how my mother and I was treated today. Azim seriously does not care about how his patience feel. First he gave me a numbing shot with no warning or compassion. He just showed up opened my mouth and gave me 2 shots very aggressively then got upset that i pushed back, like im not allowed to feel any pain. Now mind you, i can take pain so for me to push back means i was in pain. While i was in my chair waiting for my mouth to get numb i hear my mom yelling in discomfort from her chair before of his roughness and him calling her sensitive and that she knew what she went there for. When he continued back on my mouth i honestly felt like this man was trying to break my jaw by over opening my mouth. I open it as wide as i could and he kept opening wider, my jaw was hurting. I told him thats all it can open and he yelled at me saying he been doing it over 20 years that he knows what he is doing.... But yet. Not once did he consider if a patient ever had their jaw fractured or jaw surgery. Same with our neck. This experience has been the worst for us. My mom literally left the office crying.... Oh and did i add that for fillings they want separate appointments for each tooth?? They are a joke. Here's 10 reasons why you should never ever use this dentist. 1. On arrival, you will discover that their parking lot has about 12 spaces, and every single one of them sports a sign that says employees only. A business should always think of their customers first, and this one does not. There is no parking. 2. Their receptionists are extremely rude. They do not posess manners of any kind. When you arrive, you're basically greeted by surly teenagers. 3. The dentist always seems to be running late, or behind. They do not call people to reschedule appointments. They wait until you arrive, and with no apology whatsoever, tell you to come back another time. 4. The waiting room has no windows, and it's a small, enclosed space. If you arrive early, the receptionist walks into the room with Lysol disinfectant, and starts spraying it everywhere. This is an aerosol poison, and when you breath it in it can make you very ill. Again, no apology. 5. The dental hygenists are very rough. If you show up for a cleaning, expect to bleed. Alot. They are that rough. 6. The dentist makes you question his credentials. Is this really a dentist, or someone faking it? You don't get the impression that they are qualified. 7. If you have X Rays done, they won't release them to you unless you slip them ten bucks. Your insurance company pays for them. So, why do you have to give them ten bucks to hand them over? This is money grubbing at it's worst. 8. If you have a procedure done, such as a cavity filling, they will force you to make an appointment for each one. They want to be able to charge your insurance repeatedly. So, instead of doing it all at once which takes ten minutes, they make you suffer for weeks numbing your mouth repeatedly just so they can get more money. There's no excuse for this. 9. You will leave angry. It is monumentally apparent that there is no customer care at this location. They do not care about you. Getting your money is their prime objective. I had a 8:30 appointment and arrived before any of the front office staff while the music was blaring. 3 workers arrived after me approximately 5 minutes apart. None of the three said good morning or dog kiss my a_ _. I thought to myself; I DIDNT SLEEP WITH NONE OF YOU LAST NIGHT. I went to see the dentist on 04/22/2020 and had one of the worse experiences at a dental office. Dr. Azim Presswala has bad customer service skills for him to be a doctor. He didn't greet me, nor did he examine my mouth good before he said that there's nothing wrong with my tooth. I thought I had something stuck in my gum, that's the reason I went to see the dentist, but he said that he didn't see anything. He barely looked in my mouth. After getting home I started examing that tooth myself and notice that my tooth is cracked, the same one the dentist didn't see anything wrong with it. I call the office back on 04/28/2020 to let them know that the tooth that the doctor said nothing wrong with it, has a crack, and also the tooth is loose. Once I told him why I was there with a referral, he told me my referral was pretty much BS and he wanted to do a different treatment. When I refused he told me that hes sick of people telling him how to do his job and that he's right I'm wrong. I have been dealing with dental issues for 20 years I know what my situation is and what it needs to be resolved. He proceeded to numb me and without warning he began to stab my gums with the needle. This is the rudest professional I have ever encountered. Was not even greeted with a hello. Comes in and literally stabs me with the numbing needle twice and walks out. I went to this Dentist on May 7th to get a filling. I was there only 30 mins, he rushed through this never spoke to me the entire time. When it was over I looked and my whole face was swollen and sore. Then he informs me that he stuck me with the needle on the inside of my cheek on accident and never told me till the very end. The next day my face was so swollen and sore and the following day it became very bruised. A few days later I ended up going to Urgent cause my face was till badly swollen and bruised and sore. If I could give less than one star I WOULD. After relocating home from college I'd broken a tooth that needed a root canal months ago. In which the stress of getting insurance etc. I'd finally gotten a referral from Familia Dental on East Capitol to Dr. Presswala for oral surgery to get the broken tooth removed. Fast forward to the appointment, his Dental Assistants at the front desk isn't the most pleasant but who cares right? As I'm escorted back to get my X-ray the Dental Assistant asks if it's my tooth on the right side (THE ONE THATS CLEARLY SHATTERED TO PIECES) that's bothering me. I say YES. She proceeds to get a closer X-ray on my LEFT side. Azim Presswala comes in looks at the X-ray, talks AT me not making any eye contact while bashing Familia Dental for referring me. He tells me MY LEFT side of my mouth is fine and if I came in because i was told I'd need a root canal then I was mistaken because he's not doing it , he then takes a call mid conversation, comes back to continue to turn me away when I FINALLY get a chance to say "I have a broken tooth and it's on the right side of my mouth" This man then went on to annoyingly and nastily say "WELL WHY WOULD YOU HAVE US DO A DIAGNOSIS ON THE LEFT SIDE!" I said "Excuse me" at this point in the conversation I had no desire for this man to touch my mouth period because it was obvious he wasn't liking his job on this particular day. I was a dental assistant for 20 years and married to a dentist. Besides being rude rude rude, his skills are gravely lacking. The first resin filling he did was terrible - first of all he should have put pins in it as it was large, second he did a poor job smoothing the resin and it rubbed on my tongue. He is awful at INJECTIONS - used no topical anesthetic. My insurance said for him to submit a pre-auth for a bridge and he REFUSED to do so. Go somewhere else! read more

MY terrible dentist visit (PLAY by play of what I actually experienced) still blows my mind: I walked in to the dentist office and straight head, I see the front desk to check in. I noticed the office waiting room had no one seated in it.. etc...(UN-usual) since the entire parking lot spots to park in were all filled with cars expect one spot I parked in. I approach the front desk and I counted 3 younger ladies seated and two others standing directly behind them chit chatting away and as I attempted to check in there eyes were fixed into my personal information being pulled up onto the computer. (odd, I thought) One girl told me to take a seat and so I did and as I was about to sit I see just one older gentlemen walking out from a visit). Time passes and I get called by an assistant to come to take my ex rays. I took the ex rays and I noticed as I walked away from the machine a long row of individual patient chairs with individual dividers to separate and give privacy. Only, those chairs were all empty and the assistant escorts me to my chair that has a full see through glass window to the outside street where I could see traffic lights so visible for any of the cars stopped at a red light the ability to witness my personal dental visit. (INCLUDING) the people waiting for the bus line directly across the street, they also had a clear view to watch my entire dental "CHAIR" visit. The Dentists red head assistant who examines my teeth right before the Dentist comes was unbelievably mean and start verbally insulting me all the while she holds a sharp tool inside my mouth. And, not once but three times (until I yelled out) stabbed my gums very hard with her tool she used. I told her she was hurting me she then said " I don't know what to tell you, I can stop the examine all together if you cant handle it " using a snarky nasty attitude (in her professional position) like I had no choices. Then the red headed assistant proceeded to announce any thing she found (supposedly) wrong for the entire staff to hear or take notice of . I felt so uncomfortable from that point. Soon the dentist came in and he didn't he look at me or introduce himself or even review my ex rays with me as I have experienced in past office visits with other dentists. He proceeds to tell me that I need to have a two back row teeth removed before he would even think about filling my two cavities. I was angry and humiliated from how the office staff were behaving and the unpleasantness I felt was just beyond awful service. I was offended and personally insulted by their unethical rude and disrespectful manners I finally got up and told them how unprofessional they were acting and how disgusted I felt about my visit. I would not take one more minute of there abusive treatment..I walked out and ended up crying inside my car because I realized the dentist took my filling out of an old (old) tooth I had filled years ago, with out ever telling me any thing. I thought this didn't just happen to me and became angry I wanted to storm back in but I was so emotional it wouldn't have helped my situation either way. You will not get that at this dentist office, I came in because I broke a tooth at the gumline and I was in severe pain, Azim Presswala The dentist came in barely said a few words to me stuck his finger in my mouth and then told me that he had to make insurance it's my cover an extraction, well I've had teeth pulled in the past and I know for a fact My insurance covers it. I was so confused he did not let me get a word in, so I when I want to go schedule my appointment I was very confused and nervous. To be honest I was in tears and not one person in that place could give two shits, so after they scheduled my appointment I call the day of my appointment and they told me they canceled my appointment due to being rude, I was in tears crying how was I being rude. So I called and I spoke with the manager and the manager basically said Azim Presswaladid not want me to come back. So I sat and wait for a week thinking I was getting my tooth polled and they didn't even have the courtesy to tell me they canceled my appointment, which in the meantime I could've found a different dentist. My aunt shares the same dentist as I did, and while she was sitting in the dentist chair she heard Azim Presswala Told a patient that his teeth were too messed up and he did not want to touch them and told him to go to a different dentist, The guy said he didn't have good insurance and he didn't know where else to go and the dentist said that's not my problem. Had three fillings done Not only was he in a rush very rude I was in so much pain afterwards from the site where I got the numbing shot. Instead he directly recommended an oral surgeon for a tooth extraction, rather than a basic inspection of the tooth. Refusing to proceed with a regular dental appointment, Presswala started yelling at me in front of staff and other patients, threatening that he would overcharge me because Medicaid wouldn't pay for my appointment. In my view, whether a person is a Medicaid patient or not, it is derogatory and disrespectful to stereotype any patient rubbing their socioeconomic status on their faces. This was unethical and unprofessional dental practice. After his outbreak, fuming, Presswala continued yelling until he got to the reception desk instructing the receptionists to overcharge for my appointment. Really? An overcharge to receive a yelling for one who claims to be a doctor? There was not even a basic physical inspection of the tooth in pain. It is important to note that I have been a patient of Presswala for the last four years, at least. You would expect that, in that time, he would have diagnosed a problem tooth before it became a sick and painful tooth. After all, in his words, he had four years to diagnose "with his brain." Far from this, In the four years I have been Presswala's patient, he has never diagnosed a problem with any of my teeth. This claim turned out to be far from true. Just this summer, Presswala realized that another tooth --which got sick under his watch-- required root canal. Why did it take Presswala three years to figure out a problem when I had seen him for specific tooth pain? Two teeth went wrong under his watch, he failed to diagnose them on time and now he recommends extraction. My appt, was for 1/4/2016, they called me at 10:30 this morning to cancel my appointment, saying that my United Healthcare online said I was not covered with dental insurance. I've waited 3 weeks to get the appt... I went online to check my united healthcare provider to make sure I had dental insurance it said yes I did, I called the dentist office back and said I have insurance take a look they said not according to their computers. I then called my social worker and ask her to help me, she said I have dental insurance, I called the dentist office back again they said no I have no insurance so then I call United Healthcare once again they said I have insurance and I can have the dentist office call United Healthcare and they will tell them I have insurance so they can take me in today. I called the dentist office again and said could you please call United Healthcare here's the number they will tell you I have insurance, they said they won't call them they don't trust them and I should have my health insurance call them to let them know I have dental insurance so that is what I did , my health insurance called the dentist office and said yes you can take her: she has insurance for dental they proceeded to tell her that they didn't trust that... and they didn't want me as a patient until I have dental insurance even though I jumped through their hoops proving I had dental insurance they still won't work with me. I filed a complaint with my health insurance company... I also went on a website called health grade, and checked out his grade as a doctor / dentist he got a one and a half star out of 5 with 23 reviews given him a one star. To sum up my experience: I felt like Dr. Presswala treated me like a bag of dirt. I cannot remember him looking at me once during my appointment. I left feeling disrespected and belittled. I regret not heeding my urge to walk out halfway through the first 5 minutes of talking to him. read more

Took my stepdaughter in to get tooth pulled. Was told by the hygienist they would get her prepped and then come and get me before they started the procedure. After 10-15 minutes I went to the front desk and asked if the doctor was running behind and if I could go wait with her so she wasn't by herself. The front desk staff went back and who I presume was the office manager came out and said the procedure has already started. I said she is 7! Why didn't someone come and get me? She was very flippant and said it was their policy. I asked why wasn't I informed, there wasn't a sign nor was it in the new patient paperwork. She said the receptionists try their best to tell new patients before they come but I was missed and since I felt bad about not being back there she was going to stop the procedure. I told her that I didn't want the procedure stopped but wanted to be allowed back there. She said it is was it is, the procedure is being stopped. I told her that her attitude was S-----. The dentist came out and said basically the same thing and I would need to find a new provider and he wasn't going to put the space maintainer she needed in. I again asked where this policy was because if I would have known, I would have found another dentist. I don't know what parent would be comfortable not being with their child, at a new dentist, getting a tooth pulled or the child for that matter. She was scared. He very well may be a competent dentist but his attitude and the attitude of his office manager was very rude. All because I asked a question, he didn't finish the dental procedure. Shame. read more
