They have too many jobs, too few people and will not perform the job in a reasonable amount of time. Had to find a contractor for an insurance claim and did our research. These guys looked good on paper and even had great customer service at the start but we ended up disappointed. We had to remind them to get things done, would go days and weeks without workers or updates and found out they have too many jobs for the amount of project managers they can oversee. They sent the bill and had more people checking in with is to pay then we did during the checkins during the project. They eventually got the job done which is why we gave them 2 stars. Az Construction has been wonderful to work with in helping us with a small remodel project. They were able to diagnose the problems and complete the electrical, gas, plumbing and permitting to make our vision a reality. They took the time to thoroughly investigate the nuances of updating a fifties era home and made sure it was done safely while leaving no stone unturned. If you have ever experienced the absolute dread of finding a leak in your home and not knowing where the leak is coming from or how to stop it then you know this pain that I felt when this happened to us. After a stellar remediation by Bingham Restoration my insurance company referred us to AZ Construction for the reconstruction. I had a few changes I wanted to make to the initial reconstruction offering and AZ Construction went above and beyond to make sure that happened. My project manager, John Bass, was the best construction manager I have ever dealt with. He was extremely professional but had a sense of humor which is much needed when the work is hard and the projects are long. He took the time to help us make the right decisions about finishes and had patience when the decisions took some thought and reflection. He made extra trips to the house to ensure the project was going well and managed all of the trades with professionalism and courtesy. His tradesman were absolutely amazing: starting with Fernando, who has the attention to detail you want on anything going on in your home all the way to Javier: his tile work was beyond gorgeous! I had a large eucalyptus tree fall on my roof putting a hole through it and damaging my master bedroom. My insurance company connected me with AZ construction and renovation. I needed mitigation fast and they were up to the task. From the front office talking with Jennifer, to the Operation and field managers Brian and Jeff, and all the mitigation workers like Anthony Sean, Sebastian, Marcus, Val, Miguel And more, THEY ALL DID AN AMAZING JOB! The communication, coordination, attention to detail, and clean up was exactly what you would want from a company. They really do care. We met with Steve and Jeff about a complete renovation of our home. We had some ideas of what we wanted , but Steve was amazing with creative use of space and recommendations on how to make our older house more contemporary. He designed a totally open concept living space that is unique and beautiful. We felt the proposal that he gave was very fair and detailed. Steve's crew began work on time and according to plan. They showed up whenever they were supposed to and kept us informed of their progress. Steve is extremely responsive to calls, texts and emails. The crew were all professional, respectful and pleasant. We got to know each of them by name and we were really happy with the way they cleaned up and left the house spotless at the end of each day. We are finally done with our renovation and the transformation that Steve and his crew accomplished is amazing. They exceeded our expectations and our home is beautiful! We called with an almost impossible task to lay almost 2000 sq ft of tile before Christmas. They came for a meeting second week of December gave us a great bid and started the work. All the tile layers were excellent, above and beyond just laying tile. They were respectful of my space and time, ensured we had help to move things, cleaned up every evening and came in with several days to spare. We will be having AZ construction & Renovation laying tile in 3 other bedrooms and can't wait to start the bathrooms. As my husband says he is embarrassed to be around me when I don't get what I pay for. Well We received service that I feel so many companies are lacking today. Customer service and integrity. I would never recommend this company to anybody. They will try to take advantage of you specially females. At the beginning of the bathroom project I was given a estimate of 400-500 for materials since my estimate of $8,800 only included labor and I needed to know how much to put aside. They ended up buying close to 3k in materials. They told me trash was included in estimate not once or twice but 3 different times I asked if it was included and I was told it was. Before they started the work, when they started the work, and again during work. At the beginning Steve had given me the option to doit myself and save $350. The bathroom project started getting way more expensive then I anticipated & I decided I wanted to cancel the trash pickup and doit myself to save some money he told me he couldn't because it was already included. I reminded him he had given me the option to doit before and that's exactly what I was going to do now, after I wanted to doit myself and save the money he then proceeded to to say that it was not included and if I wanted the trash picked up it would be extra. I also got asked for a check of materials purchased at the beginning of the project which Jeffrey had told me was for $400 and then I get and email from Steve for $710. My issue at the time was that they were never on the same page with pricing. He was very unprofessional when I told him my issue and told me that they would no longer pick up materials for me that I had to purchase and deliver them myself, when I sign that agreement they told me they offer that service of purchasing and delivering for no extra charge. He then tried to claim that I didn't have money to pay the rest of the project which was not true. I paid everything they asked me to. During the project 2 weeks went by and their was no workers showing up to the house and no work getting done in the bathroom. I was never told when someone wasn't coming to work and my family started to get very frustrated. I tried reaching out to them and I wasn't getting my calls answered or text messages answered by Steve until I finally reached out to Jeffrey to get an update. Steve had given me an estimate finish time of 2-3 weeks for the project which ended up taking 5 weeks. Our house only has one bathroom so it was crucial that we got this project done ASAP. He told me he never gave me that estimate and once I showed him emailed proof of him giving me that he continued giving me more excuses. I told him we were refinancing the house and they were passed the time I was given for the project to be finished and stretching the deadline I had with our house. I asked if they're was any way we could get it done by the day I needed it done and I was told no. At this point I was going to have to find someone else to finish the job because I couldn't count on this company anymore I couldn't keep waiting to see if workers were going to show up and get any work done to the bathroom. Jeffrey reached out to me and I asked again if they can get it done by this certain date he told me if I paid them the remaining half that they can get the installations I need done by that day. Talk about trying to finesse someone to pay. When I tried to fire them I was immediately threatened with getting a lien put on the house and not being able to finance the house like I wanted to. These guys took complete advantage of me being a very young female and what I was trying to do to the house and scare me to pay them. They told me their was a lien put on the house and I wouldn't be able to do anything I wanted with the house. I had my lawyers check and their was no lien ever put on the house. Aside from having to pay the remaining balance before the job completion they also wanted me to pay for the lien cost which was going to be another 400. Of course I had no problem doing so as long as they showed me receipts which of course I never saw receipts for. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. They should not be in business! read more

I got referred to AZ Construction & Renovation through, I believe, Home Advisor. In my inquiry, I described that I had a small re=modelling job, 2 doorways, and then a 2nd phase in the backyard, which would be bigger. I made an appt, he showed up on time, was knowledgeable and I thought he would be a good fit for my job. He promised me a quote. That was it, NOTHING. I never heard back from him. I called the office 1 week later and spoke to the owner. I said if my job was too small, why not just tell me so? He said, they were a large company, with many employees and no job was too small. He promised I would get a reply with quote in the next few days. NOTHING. If they do their work, like they do their quotes, be prepared for delays, no shows, late delivery...I was mad since I wasted time, waiting twice for their replies. Please AZ C&R - just be honest, if the job is too small, tell the owner the truth and everyone walk away ok...Forget this company, look for another more reliable one...... read more
