What an incredible choice of musicians we had for our wedding in Scotland, coming from Arizona for…read moreour wedding in May. Cleveden was referred to us from Harmony Bagpiping and it was a great decision! Allison and her dual mother-daughter team were amazing and even went above and beyond to help us with our trip prior to coming, suggesting things to see and places to go! Now for the wedding day - they were at St Conans Kirk all set up and ready before we got there - then, my bride was running late but they kept on improvising and were just fine! They worked so well with me on the ceremony outline and the numbers that were chosen, even altering to match our bride-down-the-aisle song of Love of A Princess. Afterwards they went to Barcaldine Castle to setup and waited patiently as we were running late due to photography and the such - but they were more than happy to oblige! They played our first dance song and then played different numbers throughout the meal and then performed a mini-concert for us after that was done based on my asks for that - mostly numbers from musicals. They got into the act with the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean donning pirate hats and having rum! Such a great atmosphere and quite the characters! Then at the end they had us sing Auld Lang Syne and the theme from Outlander, but in the original verses - - - cannot wait to get that video!! Such a wonderful group of young ladies who stayed with us throughout our entire day and were great people to boot!! Thank you so much, Allison and team, for helping making our day beautiful and special with your patience, friendship and musical ability! If you want a down to earth and feel like you have known someone forever, we suggest you reach out to Cleveden - you will not be disappointed! Heidi and Paul Murphy Surprise, AZ

there is free parking here…read more this is located about 30 to 40 minute train ride from downtown Glasgow. to take the train from here is pretty easy but keep in mind that the last train back is at 2300. this is a 2 floor hotel with No elevator. bring your plug adaptor cause here is Europe and you will need It for sure. for me being a girl, having only One outlet in the bathroom was a bit of a downer. the hotel also has a bar that stay open till late and the staff is super friendly. they serve breakfast with complementary items and also they have a menu of paid hot platters. this hotel is a very budget looking hotel and it is pretty ok to stay here for a budget visit.

The Carlton Hotel's carvery has been a hugely popular feature for decades. Vegetarians aren't…read morecompletely forgotten about thankfully! I opted for the tempura vegetables on this visit and declined the carvery counter vegetables (for a supplement) since it was already a fully formed main course. Tempura vegetables with Thai sweet chili dip is better suited to being a starter in my opinion, but the meal hit the spot on the day. In the very distant past the Carlton used to offer vegetarians a brie and brocolli pithivier plus carvery sides. Next time they revamp their menu I'm hoping they'll consider including it again, or at least something very similar. When everyone else was enjoying the carvery roasties, vegetables and cauliflower cheese, my chips felt a little underwhelming. Carveries are few and far between these days. If thats what takes your fancy the Carlton Hotel shouldn't disappoint. Plenty of parking and a smart modern dining room. There's no carvery at weekends as the room is turned into a wedding venue. They still serve food however, at Logans Bar at the rear of the hotel. Well worth a try!
