Wanted a quick bite and to watch the soccer game on Friday night but was told they were only doing to-go at 8:20. I understand they have a closing time of 8:30, and was happy to just get served, but I feel like it's a missed opportunity not to just stay open until 9pm on Friday's and Saturdays? Weak! What's the difference? I guess it's just a Prunedale thing. The waitress was nice and offered me a water while I waited. Water tasted weird even with a lemon wedge squeezed into it. To-go bag came fully loaded with chips salsa and avocado dressing which I appreciated. Everyone seemed cool there and they were playing music in the back and having fun which was good to see they have a positive work culture here. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and would rate them a 6/10. Raw red onions on top seemed out of place and it was covered in way too much cheese that wasn't melted so I removed that. The chicken was slightly dry and fine but didn't seem super fresh... I was pretty hungry so I enjoyed it enough to almost finish it. It was a good portion and price point of $18 seemed correct. I think you just need to know what to order here. I came here before and I would highly recommend their ceviche. I would have rated them a 3/5 but don't really feel the need to hurt their score at all but they could do better for what they're presenting. read more

It was my first time trying this restaurant. We got seated right away on a Friday evening. I ordered the lime margarita. It was in a decent sized glass. The only thing that caught my attention was it was an inch or more from the top. To me, the glass should've been full or served in a different glass. I ordered the chips and salsa and all three salsas were delicious. I ordered the red enchiladas with combination of cheese and chicken. It didn't seem like they offered shredded beef, which I usually always get. I think it's that they lacked flavor. They're definitely not covered in sauce like you may be used to at other places. I had to put so much salsa on the enchiladas so that I could taste something. The beans and rice were decent. I don't know if I'd ever go back myself, but this is my opinion only. Came here based on the other reviews, most seemed positive. Unfortunately the food was not good. The water tasted weird, the tortillas tasted like uncooked flour, and the meat was hard. The restroom was filthy. It should have been a sign to leave when either staff or friends of the staff were bringing in their own food. Very disappointing. read more

This was my second time here but both times that I've been here the service has been outstanding. They go over the top to make sure you feel at home and that everything is how you like it. So disappointed. This used to be one of my favorites and we came often, continued decline, unfortunately unlikely to come back at this point which sucks because I want to support local spots so much! I know that prices have gone up in life in general .... but a skirt steak that used to be $19 that's now $39, and that no longer comes with a salad and now has instant potatoes versus the baked potato that it used to come with is just unbelievable. One of my favorite things about this dish was the fact that it came out on a cast iron cooktop, sizzling with vegetables, the baked potato and bread. During my most recent experience, both myself and the other person who ordered the skirt steak, were so disappointed. I order medium rare, she ordered medium and both were barely cooked at, no sizzling whatsoever. We sent one back and it came back still rare. We also ordered the churro cart which we used to love, it was terrible, 3 little churros. There used to be a warm Carmel dip, this time it was cold. The shrimp quesadilla is still good, and beans good, and the arape good. Staff always friendly. But not worth the cost and definitely issued with changes that have been made. read more

We love this place! We were there on Friday 3/6/26 and we sat outside to eat, the weather couldn't have been more ideal. We were greeted and seated promptly. Our male server was excellent and went above and beyond to make our experience a pleasant one. We went for lunch around 1pm, I cannot remember the server's name, but would like him to be recognized. Initially quiet when I arrived shortly after 5:00 p.m., it did pick up as the night progressed. When I walked up, I was greeted by an inviting outdoor patio area decorated with pumpkins for a nice fall vibe, complete with heat lamps for the chilly nights. The menu and cocktail "specials" are also posted on an easel as well. The establishment is clean yet seems it can't decide if it's a sports bar (there are multiple TV's playing sports channels) or a slightly upscale Mexican restaurant. While not "real Mexican food" as the signage proclaims, it's a pleasant spin on Tex-Mex. Smartly presented chips and salsa were top-notch! Warm, crispy fried tortilla chips filled to the brim in a stylish metal cone holder with three small types of salsa in a custom "flight deck paddle" were brought table-side shortly after being seated. We had the Chicken and Cheese Enchiladas Suizas($15.25), which was described as "Our traditional Enchilada Suiza sauce topped off with sour cream & onion." The generous serving of 4 enchiladas was filled with chicken, although on the dry side, but they were swimming in plenty of the suizas sauce to help a bit. Slightly disappointed that the side dishes came in very small ramekins, as typically in other places, you get a fair amount on the plate itself. In this case, the rice was bland, but the beans were good with a nice smoky flavor. The server, "Ricardo," reserved in demeanor, however, was professional, polite, and courteous the few times he checked in on us. The bathroom was a bit untidy, with paper towels strewn all over the floor, but the rest of the facility appeared clean. Worth a return if passing by the area. read more

I also really like their happy hour offerings which makes it a perfect place to grab a few drinks and tacos after work with friends. They have a good selection of beers and make a great michelada! Sadly we will not be returning. 3 burritos (one was a mini/kids size), 1 coke and 2 ice waters...$70 before tip!!! To start with, I ordered a coke for me and my 2 kids are big water drinkers so I asked for 2 ice waters for them (this helps this single mom keep the tab down when going out to eat, but not this time...explanation below). We ordered 3 burritos, 2 breakfast burritos and 1 bean and cheese burrito for my daughter off the kids menu. She opted to add rice to her burrito which we've done before for a $1 upcharge. Food came out and my chorizo and egg burrito, as well as my sons had a massive amount of guac in it. I don't know about anyone else, but I usually don't have guac in a chorizo and egg burrito even though I love guac. My son hates avocado and I immediately looked at his and it was all up in his as well. We were with friends we hadn't seen in some time and we really didn't want to put a damper on a nice lunch, so I told my son if he could discreetly take it out, which he did. I kind of squeezed as much of mine out without making a scene and just ate it the way that it was, it was not good at all, but we were there more for a catchup with our friends and I just decided to deal with it. As I said earlier, my kids drink alot of water, so they asked for refills of their ice waters. I wasn't paying attention much, until we got the bill... First we each got charged $1 extra for the guac, ugh, that was disappointing because we didn't ask for guac and it actually didn't go well with our order, but whatever right... But then when I saw the bill was $70 before tip, I kept thinking, wait, what??? So I looked at it again to see what else did they upcharge. That's when I noticed we got charged for 2 waters $7.50 each!!! Seriously??? Ice water? If there was a charge for water they should have told us this. At that point I noticed the bottle of "still water" that was on the table by my daughter and her friend (separate tabs) and I asked my friends who frequent this place, did we just pay for water as I grab the bottle? And my friend says "No way, they probably just refill those" When I said I think we did, his wife said, "No...let me see" She had this shock on her face when she saw the $15 charge, she couldn't even believe it. We have been to restauarants that do this, but never have I not been told in advance if that is the case. So for 3 burritos and a soda to be $90!!! Yes $90 because I usually always leave our server a $20 tip whenever our bill is under $100. That's just insane. Especially when they ruined our burritos with guac in them. I just keep wondering what's going on. Either 1) they are hurting financially and trying to upcharge everything to make more money, 2) the server is trying to get the bill as high as possible to get a better tip if its based on 18-22%, or 3) they profiled us and we looked like we had money LOL I don't think so, but who knows... What I do know is I feel like they took advantage of us. I paid with credit card and the guy hovered over me looking at the screen to see which tip I would click on. I didn't want to make a scene so I hit the normal middle button, which I think was 20% because it went to 22% and then I saw the review screen. He promptly took the device from my hand and I thought, ok, well later I'm going to review this, but not in front of my friends. But guess what... I went to my emailed receipt and clicked on "review" and it said I could review an order that had already been reviewed!!! How much do you want to bet he put 5 stars on the screen for me after he took the device out of my hands...smh With all that said, we will never return. Too sneaky trying to upgrade all our burritos to "supers", sneaky charging us for ice water, sneaky for rating the meal/service 5 stars and making it look like the customer did it... Just know before you go. YOU WILL GET CHARGED FOR ICE WATER!!! And lesson learned, had I known this was what was going on, I wouldn't have been so forgiving and would have sent back our burritos and had them remake them the way we ordered them. If I have to go to a restaurant and worry about being charged for ice water, I won't go. So its a BIG NO for me ever returning. Sorry read more

Sadly, this is my last visit here. I now understand why my usual sope can go from good to terrible. What you get differs based on the cook and that's not okay. We had lunch and ordered sopes and nachos. Nachos: it's cheese sauce from a can and guacamole from the grocery store! I looked back on yelp pics and see that same dish 5 years ago built the same way. Sopes: two come with an order so I had chicken and asada. Started with the chicken sope and it was overly salty. I thought it was the beans but after tasting the asada, it was the chicken. The sope base was inedible because it was harder than a tostada. I asked the waitress if the sope had a recent change and she said no and she said what we get depends on the cook at the time. She also said she doesn't recommend sopes but since I've always ordered that who would know I didn't like that cook's style. I also let her know to let the cook know the chicken was salty. She was apologetic and a nice waitress. Looking back at sope pics in yelp I see the good sope and the bad sope as far as 5 years ago. When this restaurant first opened we had overly salty taco meat and even had dehydration symptoms that went into the following day. It took us a couple years to go back and I was happy with the sope the next time. I'm not taking chances anymore when there's other restaurant options. The inside is pretty loud and we have to sit outside which has heaters that keep you cozy. People and the restaurant say this is authentic Mexican but it's not. Just sayin'. Stopped at Ay Caramba on our way out of town at the Prune Tree Center shopping area at Hwy 101 and Hwy 156. It's a nice little spot with at least 3 large screen tv's hanging on one side of the wall and 4 on the other. And then there's a single larger screen in from of the bar. They had Sports, Cartoons and HGTV on each wall to entertain everyone. They have a great menu that has all the standards but what stood out to me were some of the specials like bacon wrapped Ribeye and Shrimp skewers which I did order. It came with 4 Ribeye pieces and 3 shrimp divided on 2 skewers. We shared it as an appetizer instead of their appetizer menu. They have Salads, Tostadas, Tortas, Sopas, Huaraches, Tacos, Burritos, Specials on menu and Daily Specials off menu. We also ordered a Burrito and two different Taco dishes. Apparently we came on the right night at the right time because they have live entertainment. They announced a singer readying to perform. She sang a variety of songs from contemporary, Latin, top 40 etc. It was a nice evening and if we come to the area, like heading to Monterey, we'll be sure to stop by and try other menu offerings. read more
