    Kimbap
    Alex J.

I absolutely loved this place and would come back over and over again! We stopped by for lunch and greeted by both an older lady and a younger worker, both were very sweet. We ordered one Sotteok sotteok (comes with two skewers) anf the kimbap "sampler" tray. The sotteok sotteok was just like in South Korea. This was so damn good. The sausage was fried well and crispy, while being so plump and juicy. The rice cakes were toasted perfectly and the sauce was smokey, savory, with a slight kick. I loved every kimbap in the tray as well, they are all fresh and delicious! I would happily eat here every time I return to the K-town plaza

$6 for So Dduk, which is supposed to be rice cake and sausage. This was rice cakes and cheap hot dogs...
    Malisa C.

So I came on a Tuesday afternoon at 4:45pm. No need was here. I ordered So Dduk, which should always be rice cakes and Korean Sausages. I got rice cakes with cheap hot dogs. The reason why this is a problem is because you are literally paying for sausage. I have NEVER, Ever gotten this anywhere with cheap hot dogs. Sad because Awoolim has been a go-to for Korean snacks on the Galleria for years. Will NEVER come back after this... So Dduk literally means sausage, not cheap hotdogs... so sad.

If I could only order one thing from this restaurant, it would be the oden soup with fishcake! The flavor of the soup was so good, not too salty nor sweet. The spicy rice cake was too spicy for me but I'm someone who usually orders mild spice. The kimbap was just okay.

Sikhye slush is something I truly crave living in the Midwest. Thanks to the food court in KTP, I get order all my cravings in one spot while the kids run around and play.

    Shikhae Slush

The service was great. I got the shikhae slush, and it was so refreshing on a hot summer day. This remix of a classic Korean drink is worth the drive!!

    Takoyaki

Been coming here for years and will continue to do so, I always order the sik-hye dukk ggochi, and the oden soup for when I'm feeling under the weather, today I got the takoyaki and the sik-hye, the food is made fresh and presentable, with perfect portions, even the takoyaki is perfectly portioned, unlike some places that give you a little to no actual taco in their takoyaki, this place is my go to for Korean street food, its underground so it may be hard to find, this place is very welcoming, although some of the other restaurants beside them may be a bit rude, this place has always treated me with dignity and respect and I am a loyal customer for it..,

Went back to just get the fish cake with oden soup! Love how the soup is lightly sweet! Got three this time! Brought my daughter and her friend. They both loved the refreshing snack!

This spot is located in the food court of koreatown plaza and know for their spicy rice cakes and kimbbap. But what I love most about this place is the sik hye slush! So nostalgic and so good. Service here is quick and for the most part friendly. Good for a quick bite

Fried shrimp, spicey rice cakes, and Oden soup with fish cake.

I always stop by this spot when I am anywhere near Koreatown in LA! I had the fried shrimp, spicy rice cake, and the fish cake with Oden soup and a coke. The fried shrimp are like tempura. Nice crispy outside and delicious shrimp on the inside. Made fresh to order. The spicy rice cakes were also good. Like mochi bit spicey and also has little pieces of fish cake. I really like the Oden soup with fishcake. I like to enjoy a bite of the fish cake and a sip of the soup. The combo flavor is great! Everything is a bit spicey so keep that in mind if you are sensitive to spicey foods! Prices are great as my total, with tip was only $17.15!

this place is great for the korean strest food vibes. I got the sikhye, small tteokbokki, dduk gochi, and the oden. my favorite was probably the oden since the broth was super flavorful . i'd probably pass on the tteokbokki as it wasn't my style. the rice cakes were more soft than chewy. the dduk gochi was really good. super crunchy (crunchier than any other ones I've tried). I wish they had the one with sausage! the sikhye was super refreshing and sweet. i'd suggest trying it if you like rice drinks! food was super quick. it is on the pricey side (all of this was around $16).

    Bulgogi tacos

Upon looking for some Korean food to be delivered, Awoolim appeared as an option. Prices are very reasonable 2+5; Awoolim focusing on some street foods from Korea and some fusion dishes. I decided to get some tteobokki, fried chicken and bulgogi tacos. Upon delivery, I noticed that the tteobokki was perfect! It was not too chewy nor stiff, and the flavor was a great balance of savory and spicy. The fried chicken was great too, the chicken was cooked well and had a nice coating, though it was a bit on the sweeter side. The bulgogi tacos were okay, with the tortillas being rather flimsy (though that can be attributed to the delivery). The bulgogi was fine, but there was a dearth of toppings. All in all, the dishes at Awoolim were great, and I know where to go when craving some tteobokki or other Korean street foods!

    Grilled rice cake $5

K Snacks fishcake w oden soup and $5 grilled rice cake. $1 more for hot dog that we didnt care for. ;). Food court in a ktown w free parking.

    Fish cake
    Anna N.

I got 2 orders of the fish cake ($2 each) and an order of takoyaki ($6.50 for 6). I've always wanted to try this version of fish cake as I see Korean actors & actresses eat it all the time. It taste like fish cake lol it is nothing crazy. But it is cool to eat it this way on a stick and have it folded. The soup taste like the fish cake, this is perfect for cold days. The takoyaki was too gooey on the inside which we didn't really like. The workers were great and very nice. It took about 20 minutes for me to get the food which I thought it would be a lot faster. They have a lot of other Korean street food snacks so this is the perfect place to get them!

Storefront. Sikhye magic concoction on the right side of the counter ;)

Some of our favorites: -Chicken Kalguksu: I get this every time! The broth is amazing, have never had such a rich, flavorful chicken broth before. You can taste all the herbs, seasonings, and time they took to prepare. The broth is a little on the thicker end, but super filling. -Seafood Kalguksu: the broth is so flavorful and it comes filled to the brim with all types of seafood! The spice actually pairs really well with the seafood too. If you want a spicy stew, this is it! Noodles are thick and chewy too. -Bossam: so yummy! I wish I could get it more often but it's a huge portion, so come with a group so you can try it and the noodles! Everything is quality- the bossam slices, the lettuce, the toppings on the wide. Chefs kiss! My only small gripe is the portions are so big that when I come with one other person, we only have the stomach capacity to eat two dishes! Always excited to come back and try more.

As a party of 3, we all ordered the set menu with barley rice, and I could not even begin to tell you how shocked I was when the waitress brought out the food. It was dish after dish after dish, and by the end of it, the entire table was completely filled with food. All the dishes were well flavored and complemented each other nicely. I really enjoyed that you can mix everything together and create your own combination of flavors depending on what you're in the mood for. There's a nice variety of textures and flavors, so the meal never felt repetitive. To get some protein (and fat lol), we also ordered the bossam. The pork belly was cooked perfectly... tender, juicy, and flavorful. It paired really well with the crispy cabbage and pickled vegetables, which helped cut through the richness of the pork. Overall, this was a really satisfying meal. You get a ton of food for the price, the flavors are solid, and the experience was really unique. Definitely a great spot to come with a group so you can enjoy the variety of dishes together.

Down the line, I realized that the set was basically a bunch of ban chan. Some were interesting because other Korean restaurants don't serve it. We were advised to use it to create our own bibimbap. The perilla porridge stood out most. I never had perilla porridge. The taste was unique. It had chicken inside. The small cup of pumpkin soup was yummy. The soybean soup (fermented soy bean stew) had a very pungent smell. I wanted to enjoy it, but it wasn't for me. I couldn't stand the smell and not comfortable with the taste. Wish they gave an option to choose from different stews. The desserts were good. I also like their plum tea/juice. The galbi was well marinated. Not as tender as I was hoping for, but it was still delicious. With the price, I do feel like the set should include a dish of meats. Especially since the restaurant requires 2 people at $34 each for the set. If you go 3 people, prob more worth it. Overall, it was a fun experience. Service was great.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
