Decided to check this place out regardless of the negative reviews. The place is a hidden gem, not a lot of people and you can actually pick the apple off the trees. We got a $15 bag of apples for 2 people. They have cider donuts freshly made and other Knick knacks you typical find on a farm. They have a mini lake u can chill after you Apple pick. They say "free admission" but will still charge based on your party size. We had 3 kids all age 3 and under. We were only wanting a half peck of apples but were not allowed because we had more than 2 people. Full peck was $35 and we definitely wouldn't have utilized all those apples. Worth the drive to Elegant Farmer who only charges by the amount of apples you take out. When we had just gotten there and my toddlers were picking up the pumpkins that were in bins on the ground. I was watching them and parenting and correcting if needed. It wasn't 2 min before a lady came out and asked me to keep my kids from playing with the pumpkins, she didn't want them breaking them. Ok, that's fine, I don't want them breaking them either. It's not like they were chucking them around, just seeing if they could life the heavy ones. It just put me on edge. In my few years of working to teach my kids to behave in public and to respect other's property....I haven't once been yelled at by someone else. Especially in a place that I thought would be more geared towards kids. But if you don't want kids around your pumpkins and we can't buy the amount of apples we want, we'll just leave. read more

Never again!! We used to love this place and have come here for years, but the prices are now ridiculous! They try to sell the prices on "you are paying for the memories you are making" and hard sell. They charge you for the bag and by person. So if you buy a small bag you can pick about 3 apples (I'm not kidding the bag is that small) and you get 1-2 people. They will not let you take any additional. And that per person includes children. So if you have a family of four you have no choice but to be spending at least $25. On top of that the owners are extremely rude and condescending. Avoid this ridiculous cash grab at all costs. Don't reward this business. There are plenty of other far better options out there. read more

Awe's Apple Orchard was a good experience for me and my girlfriend! In search of something to do on a beautiful Saturday afternoon we found this place. I'm familiar with the area but have never noticed it before, as it is a little tucked out of the way. Pulling in you can see rows of apple trees on both sides of you. From there we went to get a apple picking bag. The women who helped us was friendly, answered all of our questions and even went out of her way to provide me with a face mask since I forgot to bring my own. I appreciated it even more since she told me they do not have any handy for customers specifically. Only one size bag was available which I'm assuming had to do with how bare a lot of the trees were. You definitely have to be early on visiting seasonal apple orchards. But I was shocked to find out that the 5lb bag we got, the smallest they have, was $15! Compared to the same size bags I get from the store for $3. The experience, with being able to choose different varieties of apples, don't justify a $10+ difference. Definitely overpriced. One thing I did like was the landscape. The orchard has a nice big pond that was being occupied by a flock of geese. It also has massive trees, and because of the season they look incredible with the different colored leaves. Not to mention how spacious it is, which is great for keeping a safe distance from other people right now. It did end up taking longer than expected to find apples with the size bag we had. A majority of the trees had already been cleared. One other thing did contribute to us searching aimlessly, and that is the lack of proper signage. I came looking for Macintosh apples and could not find the section for them. The signs were not placed the best, handwritten, and almost unnoticeable compared to the size of the sections they were in. I eventually had to ask a worker for the location. However we did eventually fill our bag with some good apples. All and all the experience wasn't bad. I am sure you could find a better apple picking place to visit during the fall season though. I have only been to one other orchard and their landscape, as well as the set up was much better personally. Doing some research ahead of time to find the best place for you would be beneficial. But ultimately if you're in the area and looking for something to do last minute, Awe's Apple Orchard would be a nice way to spend the day. read more

This is a small orchard close to the city. They let us pick Honeycrisp apples today and they are the best apples I've ever had. Instead of paying for the weight of apples you pay for the size bag you want. They also have a little store where I got a cider donut and it was really good. For the people complaining about the prices...you have to remember that this is a local, organic orchard. You're also paying for the experience of picking your own apples. I was planning on spending 40.00 there, but left all my products-apples, doughnuts, cider, etc., on the counter near the check out & left. First time here. We normally go to Apple Holler but this year with covid I wanted to skip the crowds. After reading about here I figured we would give it a try. We live in Franklin and wanted to support local. Prices are MUCH more affordable than Apple Holler. There isn't a lot more to do than picking so you aren't paying for the playground and corn pits that the bigger orchards have. Our kids are 11 and 8 so we don't need those attractions. Staff was super nice compared to the reviews I read. We bumped into 3 staff members and had no problems and were greeted nicely every time. We walked along the pond and couldn't believe how many bullfrogs there were. Hundreds! They have honey bee hives. We will be back next year for sure! My advice is to bring cash. They do not except card. We had to go home and come back. Not the worst thing but we did not know that heading in. read more

The inside store smelled amazing and we walked away with a half dozen apple cider donuts. They also had apples for sale starting at $1.79/lb for purchase along with jams and relishes. They had just pulled apple cider doughnuts out of the oven. Nothing much in the store due to the time of year, so possibly more stars on a return visit in season. First time going here. The scenery was nice with a pond and seating areas. The apples were all delicious! The pricing was pretty outrageous and was also dependent on how many people you were with. Our bag also ripped so that was unfortunate. It was cash only so if you're going, bring your own cash to avoid a $4 charge from the atm. We used to go here for years but last year was the last straw! Every year the prices were going up and up and the bags were getting smaller and smaller. Now they charge you per person to step into the orchard whether you are picking or not. They charged us for our 3mo baby!! The only had 3 different kinds of apples to choose from and they weren't very good tasting apples. We also had a hard time finding apples that were decent enough to pick. The older ladies that work outside are very rude too! We also used to like their apple cider donuts but they too have fallen to the wayside. Very greasy and not a lot of flavor. Living in Oak Creek, this location is great...just a jog from the Franklin Public Library! It's a quaint apple orchard with cute ladies working the store, and good apple cider donuts, probably what they are most known for. The only issue we had was when we went to sit outside to enjoy our donuts, the wasps swarmed us, and my kids could not relax about it. I told the ladies, and they just said they are bad when it's warm (it was almost 70 degrees). Yes, they were bad, and the garbage outside wasn't helping! Don't Hope to enjoy yourself outside the shop on a nice day. I don't know how it was by the apple trees because my kid thought it would be worse so we couldn't go over there to see. Date day at the apple orchard. Picking you own apple can be a fun activity, but we decided to buy a few in the store and walk around. Don't leave with out your apple cider donuts . it has been too long since I have had donuts like this. From the moment you pull into the long drive way, you can tell this is someone's dream come true. In that you have to appreciate this place. Who cares about the price, you generally pay for some of your favorite experiences in life. If i'm not mistaken someone complained in an earlier review, about the price they were selling the apples. If you are going to winge about the difference between outpost and somebodies farm, You should not be allowed on the property. The rudest worker's I have ever encountered including the owner! Do not give this place your business! The orchard being smaller and the prices being a bit high didn't bother us much until we encountered the staff. I read reviews prior to going and a lot mentioned how rude they are and I should have listened and went elsewhere. The place itself is cute and the young blonde inside was helpful, but we won t be going back, because the apples were grossly overpriced and the female owner was RUDE and standing over us. You can purchase 3 separate bag sizes, minimum $12 up to $38 for a 1/2 bushel bag that holds approx 20 lbs. Our party bought 2 1/2 bushel bags. We had 3 adults and 5 children (ages 2-5) with us. We went picking through several rows to get a good variety of apples. Toward the end the older female owner basically came to stand over us- why I m not sure other than to ensure we weren t stealing her apples?!?!? (which we definitely were not!) Our children were well-behaved. When the 2 yo wanted to help carry one of the 1/2 bushel bags, it tipped and apples started spilling out. The hovering owner said that s why you should have the apples level, so that doesn't happen. WHAT??? Apples spilling out would have happened regardless, unless the bag were almost empty! And if you want to charge by the pound instead of the bag, you should do so! We made sure those apples fit in the bag and not one spilled on the way to our vehicles. The price for u-pick is NOT a bargain, however, if we had gotten decent service we might go back for the convenience, but after the experience with the hovering, grumpy owner, we absolutely will NOT be back. Unfortunately, we did not love our visit to Awe's in a prior season for two reasons. Getting to a parking spot was awkward, and the prices of apples seemed high to us (Part of it is probably the nature of apple picking -- children will want to pick *many* apples, more than a family might need or reasonably eat! Think in advance about what you will use and how much you can spend, and try to find a way to slow the kids down -- I'm not sure how to do that, though!) I understand that a farm business is a lot of work to run and I have a lot of respect for that. We just didn't feel the visit was a great fit for our family. So I'm sad to say that we'll probably try another farm before returning to Awe's, and we'll try to adjust our expectations of how to do apple picking. If you go, enjoy your visit! Went to Awe Apple Orchard today which was our first visit . We went in the shop and asked since this is our first time how things went we were told to grab plastic bags and pick apples. We were stopped just outside of the door by two of the most unfriendly ladies asking us who told us that which person and as one lady went to talk to the person whom told us that the other lady proceeded to tell us they charge by the person. So for 2 adults and two children they allowed us two bags for $25.00 a bag which is similar in size to the little brown bags with the handle you sometimes see apples in at picknsave or Walmart . Then they tell you how to pick the apples and tell you to only pick from the trees with the colored tags on them . Between the unfriendly people in the beginning and being tracked down for picking off a wrong tree that had a colored tag from last year as we were supposed to know this it was not money well spent nor as fun as it could have been for our family . I know pick your own is supposed to be a fun family experience, but this place was ridiculous. Most pick your own charge by the size of the container or by the pound. This place charges by the number of people in your group. We only wanted to pick a dozen or so apples for a couple of pies but were told by a very rude lady because there were 3 of us, we had to buy a certain size bag. That would have been way more than needed. $25 for a around 10lbs of apples is CRAZY. So to get just the apples needed, our daughter bought the small bag and managed to fit 7 apples in it. That came out to over a $1 an apple. We bought the med bag and squeezed in just enough for two pies. There are a few other places to pick that may require a short drive (not Apple Holler). There 3 up near Mequon/Cedarburg area that are cheaper and have tractor driven hay rides to the picking trees. Save your money on a better family get away. We WON'T return.. read more

We went here today for a Queens Apple (Carmel apple with whip cream and nuts) and was told they don't make them any more. We then asked for just a Carmel apple and they didn't have those either, what they did have was one that had sprinkles on it and looked old. Rates weren't really listed anywhere and the size of the farm is on the small side (which is ok since it is so close to the city). Rip-Off!!! We have been picking apples at this orchard for several years. Did not make it out there last year due to the drought. They have changed the way they charge now. They charge you for the number of people in your party rather than the amount of apples that you want to pick. We had a large group but did not need or want a ton of apples. In order for six of us to pick, it cost over $50!! We will go back to Barthel's from now on even though our family lives on the south side. Went here for the first time today and had a very pleasant experience. The staff was very friendly as well. We had some questions about the different varieties of apples and the person working there cut a few up for us to try. It was raining so we only visited the store. We show up for yet another year of what I expect to be a nice memory with my grandma and my 3 children only to be informed that, since there is 5 of us, we will have to purchase 40 lbs of apples at a rate of $60. I explain to the lady that we have no use for that many apples and would never eat that many and she says "I don't know I just work here". At first I thought this was a nice place to go for my twin one-year-olds to experience their first pumpkin patch. Despite being extremely small and not much to select from it was good enough for 2, 1-year-olds. I try to look past the rundown appearance of the place and then not so welcoming atmosphere. However, while my husband was paying for two pumpkins one of my twins ran by the apple orchard and the old lady owner screamed at my husband because my twin might steal an apple. As I was trying to struggle to get both twins to the car I will never return for the rude behavior we received. The teenagers inside the small pathetic Hut were nicer than anybody else. Way to go for ownership. Do not be fooled by the world famous apple cider donuts sign those as well were disgusting looking. Definitely do not go if you have a toddler. Also way over priced. Fun experience! Lots of trees to pick apples from.. It was $15 for a 5lb bag for 2 people. The inside shop had lots of fresh desserts and canned goods. Great place to bring the kids at a very reasonable price. Got to go out in the orchard for 25 dollars and pick 10lbs of apples which was amazing. The orchard is so beautiful when you walk around it. Then there is the shop which you walk into and it smells so good!! The apple cider donuts are to die for and the bakery is also very good.
