To start, we ordered the Sicilian Sangria. It comes with skewered fruit in a full wine glass, with a little bit of ice. Out of the few times I have had Sangria, I found it to be very good, and it doesn't taste too strong. I had two of them.
We then ordered the Burrata, which apparently comes directly from Point Judith, RI. It comes with wood-fired grapes, arugula and pine nuts. It is also glazed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. My impression of it was that it is a very fresh-tasting dish, and a perfect starter that can be shared by two. It is however the most expensive starter at $19. After ordering a starter, they also provide Focaccia bread with a vinegar and garlic sauce on the side. The bread was cold, but it was still enjoyable.
In addition to the Buratta, we ordered the Calabrese Pizza, which looks like your regular wood-fired pizza. It however does come with three cheeses: mozzarella, stracciatella (burrata cheese), and Gran Padano. It didn't leave a lasting impression, but it does serve as a good secondary appetizer to the Buratta. It's of a decent size that you can take half of it home.
For the main course, I had the Rigatoni Bolognese. I found that most of the pastas here are house-made, including this dish. I thought it to be one of the best Bolognese I have ever had. It has ground pork and veal which make it very tasteful. The plate did cool down quickly though, which sort of puts a rush on eating it as the sauce seemed to lose its flavor with the heat.
My girlfriend has the Linguine Vongole, which is house-made pasta with Littlenecks because she likes seafood. The Littlenecks tasted very fresh, and the house-made pasta was a very interesting shape but tasted amazing. The pasta and Littlenecks sit in a white-wine broth and has a little bit of garlic.
For dessert, we had the Cherry Olive Oil Cake. I was put off by the name at first, but my girlfriend insisted we get it. It tastes very good, sort of like a shortcake consistency. It is a decent-sized slice, but is still enough to share for dessert.
I ordered the Affogato, which is a dessert drink. It is a vanilla gelato, fresh espresso and Montenegro Amaro concoction. It tasted mostly like the espresso, but I loved it.
The service of the restaurant is very impressive, with all of the staff being very attentive and courteous. If they see your plate empty or your water low they come over very promptly. Our waitress was very nice and she went through the entire menu and explained it all very well, without trying to sell the most expensive items.
The atmosphere is also very nice, and you would never tell it used to be an Uno's restaurant. They did very well with the construction of the place. The staff are dressed nicely, and it seems that most of the customers do the same. It is not loud at all, and I think most would enjoy the ambiance.
Overall, I found my first time to be very good, and I left feeling like I could come back to explore more of the menu at some point. I think it is a great spot for a date or fancy family dinner. I would rate the food an 8/10. The atmosphere is an 8/10. Lastly the service is an 8/10 as well. For its first week opened it was a very good and impressionable experience. read more
