I moved in here with a roommate in August 2020. The first two years I lived there were totally fine…read moremaintenance listen to request and so did management but when they switched over to a new ownership, there were lots of problems. The first problem was that they didn't tell anybody that they switched them to a month by month lease And they never gave any residence a copy of their new lease. It took me about five months of begging on my knees, basically to finally get a legal lease document from them, which ended up being a single page that only favored their rights, but not rights of the tenants. Secondly, maintenance request were never done properly. They were never done on time and the promises that were made or broken repeatedly day after day. I lived with a gigantic hole and leak and mold in my ceiling for about four months over the summer. They steal money from you. They charge you for random fees that make zero sense and I've disputed every single one of those charges on my credit card. Additionally, I still haven't received my security deposit back and I moved out February 26, 2025. I had a few exchanges with them since then regarding this And the only answer they gave me after saying I'll get back to you. I'll go back. I'll get back to you was that they spent all of my security deposit money and that I owe them more money and that they sent a document out of the itemized damages and the prices I asked them where this document was because I never received it no response so I said you know what I don't care anymore keep the money I'm going to file a complaint with the Connecticut state which is exactly what I did. Do not move here. These people are evil. They will take all your money and make you so stressed and angry and frustrated And it will not be a pleasant experience. This apartment. Community is really really awful and they need to be examined by the police.

Aspen Green at Simsbury

Aspen Green at Simsbury

The actual apartment of Aspen Green: My 2nd floor apartment…read morebecame infested with ants and bugs of multiple species that kept coming back despite multiple visits from maintenance who only sprayed the inside perimeter of my apartment. It was clear the ants were infested throughout the building and this was a frequent problem dealt with at Aspen Green. For a $3,000 apartment I should not have frequent ant infestations. There are no cameras at Aspen green, and car break ins and thefts were becoming popular when I moved out. Seema Fnu and other staff did nothing in response to car break ins and thefts other than sending generic emails to every resident about locking their cars. In a supposedly family safe community this seems very dangerous. Frequently children were yelled at by the property staff to stop playing outside and to stop skating on the pavement in the complex. This was also sent in multiple generic emails to all residents. This seemed extremely counterproductive to their supposed "family friendly" facade. The actual apartment was filthy. My vents were not cleaned prior to move in and my entire apartment on move out was covered in black dust. I became very sick from inhaling dirty air and mold from living in this apartment complex. There was dry rot in the apartment, water damage along windows and also dry rot and significant water damage in building 4's mail room which made it clear the entire complex is not maintained despite only being built a few years ago. Again, this apartment is not a luxury apartment by any means. The actual walls were so thin I could hear my neighbors snore, sneeze, cough, and talk almost always. Despite boasting about a strict noise complaint policy, the property manager, Seema Fnu refused to follow her own noise complaint policy after I was unable to stay in my apartment due to extreme noise. My upstairs neighbors seemed to have parties until 2am consistently despite quiet hours. After I had called the police for the first complaint, I reached out to Seema for help and support; in addition to the other property staff and a corporate staff member named Jaime who was also extremely disrespectful, invalidating, and rude after expressing concerns for my safety and the safety of the other residents. The noise from my above neighbors became extremely aggressive, and after attempting to seek out support and help from Seema, Jaime, and the other property staff, I was told that they did not believe me and I was not suited to live in an apartment. As someone who has lived in multiple rental homes and apartments before with no issue, this was a very rude and unnecessary statement to make. Seema Fnu also said that if it was that big of an issue that I had, I should call the police again because it was my responsibility to handle the safety of the apartment and it was not theirs. As a single woman living alone who had just heard on the news of three women being murdered in their apartments, I felt like I could no longer live in Aspen Green. This was no longer a safe space, and it was quite clear the entire property staff did not care about any of their residents safety or well-being. I was extremely gaslit and invalidated in my distress, this coupled with the continued aggressive noise forced me to end my lease 6 months early due to my apartment no longer being livable. Instead of being respectful at the very least, I was treated with animosity and anger from a person that does not know me personally in the slightest and should have at least handled the issue professionally. Seema Fnu withheld my security deposit beyond the 30 days since the day I gave her back the keys which was illegal because I had broken my lease, which had annulled the original lease I had signed. After supposedly agreeing on a settlement for moving out early, she overcharged me on purpose hoping I would not check my bank account and after calling her multiple times and a brutal conversation where I was spoken over repeatedly, she reimbursed her over charge. This place is a scam. Do not live here.

NOTE: The new management company, called Eagle Rock, is way worse than Westgate! Just don't, you…read morewill regret it.... I don't recommend this place at all, here's a just a few reasons why... There is an inch wide crack all the way around the doors to the hallway and the wind whistles through the door all night in addition to letting in the hallway light and all the hallway smells. The hallway always smells terrible, both from people living in the building with incontinence issues and the laundry room vents into the hall. Bugs enter the apartment through the hallway door, spiders, stink bugs, earwigs... The windows do not shut tight we and the wind whistles through the windows. The windows leak water into the apartment during a rain storms. Birds live in air conditioner and wake you at 4 AM. Outdoor lights in the courtyard never go off so they shine in all night. KITCHEN: The kitchen sink was installed with very cheap fixtures that lacked gaskets so water leaked down under the sink. The dishwasher leaves debris on the dishes so every load needs to be rinsed off. The garbage disposals are ancient and don't grind. If your unit has a washer/dryer... the washer tears your clothes and the dryer vents INSIDE causing massive dust in the apartment. The stove also vents inside, putting grease everywhere. Other people have said this -- they raise the rent - a LOT, every lease renewal!

Westgate was the first apartment I lived in when I moved to the area, or should really say, first…read moreplace I lived on my own. I lived in a studio from 2007-2011, which had a hallway, huge closets, and a humongous bathroom. The grounds were kept immaculately and the location was sheer perfection. Maintenance were very friendly gentlemen. When my fridge stopped working, they were quick to replace it with a newer one. When the ceiling fell out in the kitchen, they fixed it too. I used to walk to Stop and Shop, CVS, Dunkin' Donuts, and Boston Market all the time. The Chinese restaurant, Tasty, was a delicious convenience for me. They would throw two parties a year; a holiday and a summer cookout! The leasing office for the most part was very nice to me, except when I tried to negotiate the price. A bus stop is in front of the complex in case you don't have a car. The one-star deduction was for the price. These are very, very expensive apartments. The starting price for the studio is about two hundred dollars more per month than my last year rent. For the price, they should include a hot tub in the pool area and built a gym in the basement. Though I felt like I had no disposable income when I lived there, I felt it was worth living in a safe, convenient and beautiful place. I moved out solely because I could not afford (and I had decidedly to move in with my boyfriend). I do recommend Westgate if you make lots of $$$$$, but don't want the commitment of home ownership. Westgate was a wonderful experience for me.
