Although there was a bit delay in the beginning getting on the program (their team could get quite busy & you know how slow applying for government program at times), I had to email them a few times to get status, but they kept in me in the loops and got my mom's Medi-Cal approved after 2-1/2 to 3 months. I continue to use them for my mom's Medi-Cal annual redetermination & their team (especially Kathleen McGavran) are not only responsive but also very kind & pro-active in helping their clients' account (one year Medi-Cal determinated an incorrect share of cost amount for my mom and once I was notified & emailed Kathleen, she contacted the agency on our behalf right away and was able to get the amount correctly within few weeks!) I was referred to MediHelper.com ( Medi-Cal Consulting Services) by our estate planning attorney and contacted them because I needed assistance with my parents' situation. It took approximately two weeks just to get an appointment with Lisa, the president of the company. When we finally spoke, the conversation seemed very positive. Lisa asked me to provide additional financial information and documentation, which I sent promptly. I was told that I would receive a DocuSign agreement so we could move forward. That agreement never came. What was most frustrating was what happened afterward. I was not given Lisa's email address or a way to contact her directly. I called and emailed the company at least five times trying to find out what was happening. I kept waiting because I believed, based on our conversation, that they were going to help us. After another TWO WEEKS of repeatedly following up, I was finally told that they had decided they could not work with me and asked whether I wanted them to refer me to another company. I completely understand that a company may review a situation and determine that they aren't the right fit. What I don't understand is why it took nearly a month to communicate that decision. Families seeking this type of assistance are often dealing with aging parents, complicated financial situations, and time-sensitive decisions. Wasting four weeks waiting for a company that ultimately has no intention of taking your case is incredibly frustrating. Had they simply told me after our initial consultation that they couldn't assist us, I would have respected that and immediately found someone else. The lack of communication and follow-through was unacceptable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend MediHelper.
