For my home inspection when I was first considering buying my house, I went with a guy that my agent recommended. DO NOT DO THAT. They both have an incentive for you to buy the property. The first inspector missed a lot of pretty important stuff (major crack in a visible sewer line, indicators of potential foundation problems, etc.). We recently decided to get it re-inspected by Avocet so that we would have a clearer idea of what repairs are needed and Tom was amazing! I wasn't home at the time but my husband had nothing but rave reviews: Tom took a ton of time to look through the house thoroughly and tell us what we should prioritize and what could wait. Tom was a great home inspector! He was extremely detailed oriented and very thorough. He put together a very detailed report which was very helpful in our negotiations. He took his time and gave explanations of not only things that were wrong, but also what was good with the house. When he noticed that an item wasn't up to code, he would give a detailed explanation of why it was wrong, and then explain the process of how a contractor might remedy the problem.
