I am reporting to the Florida Department of Health (DOH) and getting a new doctor. I was told I couldn't get the prescriptions I've been taking for many years due to having not been in for a checkup within the last 6 months. I was then told that well, it's close to 6 months ago, so we refuse to refill your medications unless you come in. Basically, they want to charge my insurance for an unnecessary visit. When I communicated this they then said: "GO FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR" and hung up.

I requested A Monday appointment and was told that he's not in that office on Mondays. Thus, I was given an appointment on Thursday. A few minutes later, I get an email confirmation for my appointment, however, it was with his NURSE PRACTITIONER! I replied that I wanted to see the DOCTOR, as I left my former Rheumatologist because he had moved to Costa Rica and left his NURSE PRACTITIONER to handle his patients. Following my reply, I recieved a phone call from Dr. Barron's office. The woman explained that I could NOT see the doctor because he does NOT see patients in the Delray office! When I requested the appointment, I explained about my previous doctor and his move to Costa Rica. How is it possible that this woman was sending me to another nurse and NOT the doctor? I wonder if the insurance companies know that they are paying nurses for doing the doctor's jobs...I wonder if they even care! She had not seen him in five years due to Covid and my father's passing. The girl on the phone never bothered to tell me that they move their office. So we showed up and to the wrong place. The office is still listed in the phonebook under the old address. When I finally spoke to the office and asked where they are now she insisted that she told me that they moved , which is not true. When I finally got my mom to the correct office that day a little while later we were then told he refused to treat my mother because she lived in assisted-living. So I spent the whole day running around with an 87-year-old woman from office to office only for them to tell us they refuse to treat her . I don't know how this is possibly legal all because of where she lives. Sounds like discrimination to me
