I show up the next morning and am told they do not have an SUVs, and my only options are a large pickup truck (not great for driving and parking in the area of the city I am going to, or a minivan (both are free "upgrades"), or I can take a matchbox-sized car, which was my only other option, which I had to take to make my meetings. The Branch Manager kept saying "I am saying" in a monotone I don't care voice while not even looking me in the eye or acknowledging he messed up or trying to actually make it right. As I am checking out, a SUV comes out of their car wash, and I ask about that, but he states that it's for someone else (mind you, I am the only customer there, so he means for someone later who is a friend). As I am leaving, 2 warning lights are coming on in the car as it rattles the entire day, but going back to try and get the other matchbox car would have made me late for my meeting, so I have to deal with it. The woman I spoke with said she was on the phone with a customer, but struggled to get my phone number right, so I said I'd hold and wait. When she returned to the line, she said they could offer me a ride to the dealership, where I needed to pick up my new car. I arrived half an hour later, and the Volvo employees in the same office didn't know where she was. I left to pick up my car and had the dealer drive the rental back to Hertz. The experience was simply appalling. The branch manager was nowhere to be found from 1pm to 2:30pm, leaving three customers waiting and one turned away (who returned to the office to change his rental car, unsuccessfully). She showed up at 2:30pm only after one of us was able to get hold of her through a National customer service representative (as funny as it sounds) around 1:45pm and told her on the phone there are three customers waiting in the office with reservations. When I asked why there was nobody working on a Thursday afternoon, the branch manager (Tremaine) started telling us about policy activities earlier during the day that caused the station to temporarily close -- But it was all cleared up around 1pm as we customers were able to enter the station (and all other rental companies were operating normally). Then she said she had to go to another location to contact customers by phone -- But none of us got any phone calls and I had to show her my call log to prove it. Then she started telling me my profile in the system must have the wrong phone number -- Honestly? In the end, she started making her own rules about who could get cars or not and claiming there is no car available for me, despite having an active reservation. She was unprofessional and rude, and showed no care for customers during the entire process. Eventually I had to book another reservation with Avis next door and continued my travel through Wilmington. I will continue to use Enterprise. But at this location, stay away!

Jay helped navigate two insurance plans, one for the branch damage and a separate supplemental plan to help replace my key fob and scuffed tire. I picked it up yesterday and it looks like a brand new car - they went the extra mile to scuff out any residual marks I had from living in Philly for the past couple of years, vacuumed and cleaned the inside, and even set a date for me to come back and get my car waxed at no additional charge. When I brought it to their attention, they made zero effort to fix the issue, leaving me completely stranded. They close at 5pm i made a reservation to pick the car up at 5pm i got there at 4:50pm i got the keys at 5pm so when i left they were closing so i had to call corporate because no one was in the office because they close at 5pm no apology, no alternative solution, just awful customer service. As spoke with a manager and we argued back and forth because she told me to return to hertz the next day (Saturday) hertz is close Saturday and Sunday as she insisted there were open and guess what there closed!!! This kind of negligence and lack of accountability is beyond frustrating. I expected at least a basic level of professionalism, but Hertz failed miserably. If you're looking for a reliable car rental company, I strongly suggest you go elsewhere.
