Hands down my favorite Car Rental! I had a great experience renting from this Avis location. The manager was very accommodating and made sure everything went smoothly from pickup to return. He was friendly, professional, and quick to help with any questions. The car was clean, well maintained, and exactly what I reserved. They also had a good selection of vehicles. I would definitely rent from this location again. The first time I feel it's a genuine sense of service and help. read more

Note: This review is specifically for the Budget Truck Rental service located at the Avis building in Van Nuys, CA (the two share a location). I booked my Budget truck the night before, and first thing in the morning, I got a call from Kurt. He was honest--he didn't have a truck on-site yet but told me he was working on it and would keep me updated. The truck ended up arriving about an hour late, but honestly, I didn't even care. His communication was clear, and his energy made all the difference. I also asked if he knew any movers or someone who could help me get the truck to my storage unit. He casually gave me a few solid recommendations, and one of them worked out perfectly (I'll leave them a separate review). But here's the thing--this wasn't just a truck rental. I walked into that office thinking I was fine, just going through the motions of a move after a breakup. But something about that interaction... it hit me. I ended up opening up to Kurt about my year in LA, how I packed up my life to travel with my partner, and came back almost five months later--alone and heartbroken. Saying it out loud made everything feel real, and I started to cry. Kurt didn't flinch. He didn't have tissues, so he handed me a microfiber towel from a clean pack. I still have it. That small, kind gesture meant the world. He was present, kind, and just so human. We bonded over travel stories, and it reminded me that there are still good people out there who genuinely care. As for the rental itself: Budget ended up being more affordable than U-Haul for my one-way move from LA to Vegas. I also appreciated having three full days with the truck included in the price--U-Haul charges extra for that. Heads-up: if you don't refill the gas tank to the original level, they'll charge $10 per gallon, so be sure to top it off yourself. One hiccup: the check engine light was on. My dad, who's experienced with trucks, was concerned. Kurt explained it had to do with a stolen catalytic converter triggering the light and that the truck was still okay to drive. My dad said it struggled a bit going uphill, but we made it safely--and that's what matters. When we dropped off the truck in Vegas, Alvin at the return location was also super friendly and helpful. We showed him a photo of the fuel level from pickup (it wasn't quite full), and instead of being rigid, he worked with us and waived any issue. That kind of trust goes a long way. All in all, what could have been a stressful and emotional day ended up feeling light and supported. Kurt made a real difference, and I'm so grateful I crossed paths with him. read more

Over billed nightmare getting money back. Made reservations online paid for rental upfront when returning the car my card was double charged complete nightmare countless emails back and forth with customer service over my funds months ago by I'm out my hard earned money read more

Hands down the Worst customer service in my life. Even though the person that worked here is rude that was the least of my problem. When I got there he started cleaning everywhere and then disappeared without communication as too where he was going? How would you like to have reserved your car for 8am pick up from two weeks ago and on the day of pick up they have no cars available for you? Couldn't they have called me the day before and told me sorry we don't have a car for you rather than me driving there and wasting my time and having to cancel my trip because of the management being incompetent. Let's move forward: They only had two cars available. Please look at the photos below. one was already rented and the Tahoe he said he has to call his manager to find out if it's available? What the Hell? What kind of business are you running. I will complain to corporate and get this owners license revoked and business taken away from them. They know nothing about how to run a business as I have dealt with Avis car rental a lot and this is not acceptable. I will not back down until this location shuts its doors. Please avoid this location Instead go to any airport near you as their customer service has been top notch since I do rental cars from Avis all the time from airports. I rate this place a two thumbs down and if you read this and end up going there to rent a car. Remember I told you so. read more

I hate it that they moved from the nice place on Oxnard to this location. Although the new location is within walking distance from me, the Oxnard location which is much better. I've never had a problem with their service. My rating is based on the move from a good location in an industrial area to an old building that looks like it was once a house. read more

Ordered a van online. The confirmation sent us to the wrong address. Then, once we got to the right place, the guy said they had to cancel because there were no available vans or trucks. He blamed it on "corporate." He said to never trust the site, but when you call, they tell you it's better to go online! This is a terrible way to do business. If you can't trust the website or the employees, what is one to do?! Not to mention, we wasted over two hours with this nonsense on our last moving day. Unprofessional from the top down! Terrible pace. Fraudulent company! read more

I've rented cars at many companies and across many states in this great nation of ours, and I have to say this was probably the worst renting experience I've ever had. This place had one person working, who was just dilly-dallying between the queue of people waiting to be helped. I guess I should've taken a hint from the flustered look on everyone's face who was there, including one guy who was marching back and forth inside and out while on the phone with customer service and venting his frustrations to the dilly-dallying worker. I reserved a car, got there on time, waited 30 minutes, and during those 30 minutes, I barely got but one acknowledgement and a "Please wait." Nothing else happened. No more acknowledgements, just tons more people flustered. Interesting experience but I think it's safe to say I won't be a returning customer here. read more

I rented a car from here and let me just say this truly was the most run down car rental lot I have ever seen. The cars were dirty. The lot was filthy. Wow. I couldn't believe they had the nerve too charge such high prices for such low grade cars. But at the time I was in a pinch so I just had too move forth with my plan to rent a car from this horrible place. But never again. Just a few photos too show you what I'm talking about. Worst experience at a rental place ever. I have never experienced such a rude person. Made the check in possible extremely difficult. I've been renting cars from this location for quite a while now and I must say it is the most reliable and hassle free experience from any other rental company. I have used this Avis on several occasions and each time Cesar has done everything to ensure I leave happy. He is always patient whenever I have called to inquire about inventory and in the instance where the class of car I selected was unavailable, he accommodated me with a much nicer vehicle than what I would've gotten. I won't go anywhere else for a rental read more

Don't ever rent a car from this location. The costumer service is terrible and a guy who says his name is Santos is threatening and on a power trip. We needed to rent a car for our daughter's wedding. Every place was expensive and I went through Costco which has a good deal. I had my choice of any of the Avis offices and I choose this one because it was the closest to Costco just incase I needed to fill the car up for either pickup or drop off. I called and spoke to Ceasar and requested a car with a full tank of gas and if I can pick it up earlier. We arrived earlier and Ceasar had a car ready for us to pickup that was clean and filled up. Pickup was quick and easy. So was drop-off. I would definitely rent from this office again. read more

It has cheap rental but to me not trustworthy. What is really disturbing is that It took almost a Week to confirm for Avis that the car is in the lot, despite several calls to customer service and the Van Nuys Avis office. I was afraid that Van Nuy's rental car may blame me and steel the car. Renting this place gave me depression and stress. I rented the car on Saturday. The Clark told me that you can throw the key and park the car next to Avis, but it is at your risk. I saw the key landed close to the main doot with Avis Envelop. Next afternoon the clerk said he did not get the key, which I doubt because of his contradictory speech. Any way they charged me close to $300, which is fine it was my stupidity to trust. read more

Customer service was so-so. The CSR was on his phone while trying to check me in saying he had to text his boss. Really that could not have waited until I was checked in? The physical plant was extremely filthy. The car was delivered extremely dirty. The trunk, Interior, and overall all car was dirty. Delivered with half of tank of gas. I had to take it to the car wash after I left AVIS to clean it inside and out. . I would never return to this location or rent from this AVIS again. The customer service Rep stated the facility was a corporate store. There is nooo way this was a Corporate store. If so, the entire corporate management should be fired immediately. read more

If I could leave no stars I would have. I came to this location to buy an Avis car, so I rented it for 5 days while Avis "Car Sales" supposedly located on the East Coast told me they'd finance me , which they would never do. They dicked me around for 5 days, and all along actually had zero intentions of ever selling me their car. If you see one of their cars on car Gurus do not get in touch with them! All they want you to do is rent their car, and charge you for the rental. They actually have no intentions of ever selling you their car. It's a total scam. I am going to contact the news, or 2020 to see if they'll be interested in investigating them. read more

Im always going to come back to this location whenever I need a rental. MIKE was more than helpful when it came to our needs. (Renting 3 cars in a row). We rented a van, but needed one with a bigger capacity, he was able to help us out with this and went over and beyond in helping us out with this matter. We got a call that we had to give back the car at an earlier time than possible, but when we agreed to do so he promised to help us out with our next rental, again, he did not disppoint The next week, when we rented a van (we were expecting it to be another 7 seater, since 8 seaters were rare) we were surprised to get an 8 seater van!! Thank You MIKE for all your help. Now everyone in my family knows who mike the nice guy is. read more

We were really happy with the service and efficiency at this Avis. We ordered the car online and chose a compact car. The rates were competitive and factoring in the distance that we'd have to take a taxi to pick up and drop off the car the Avis on Oxnard, this was the best value for money! The staff are friendly here and we got our car quickly. The only issue I had was that they didn't give us a compact car that we asked for, but the next size up. They still charged us for compact which is good but we opted for the compact because of its fuel efficiency compared to the next size up and they switched it without saying anything. But we didn't realize either until we had left. Our car was a red Chrysler with only 2000 miles on the clock. Excellent car, clean inside and out - just like new! Still, overall good experience and would use again. read more

Super disappointed! Horrible place, got hunged up almost 3 times. The person was so busy with customers inside the store, he kept rushing me off the phone, and kept repeating; "Can i help you with anything else?" I even asked; "Can i talk to someone else who is not busy? Or should i hold?" And the guy just wanted to get me off the phone. I just wanted to see if my car that i reserved was there. He said we do not guarantee a PREMIUM SUV(Chevy Suburban), if its a 7 seater we'll put you in a minivan. A MINI VAN? Really? How does a minivan is similar to a Premium priced SUV? read more

If you're looking for a great place to rent a car, you've found it. Stella and her team took excellent care of me when my car broke down and I ended up having a horrible 24 hours after that. I showed up early, and even though they weren't officially open yet, Stella gladly helped me rent a car right then and there. When I had to extended the rental, she did everything she could to get me the best possible rate. And when I returned the car, her team was cheerful, polite and very helpful. Norman was above and beyond helpful!!! Our son left his MP3 player in the car, the car was being serviced post drop off. Norman took our information and looked throughout the car a day later and found it. He was sensitive, kind and conscientious. Being from a small town it was nice to see in that kind of service in the big city. Avis was the saving grace for our family during a very stressful time. The drop off at the Oxnard, Van Nuys office was seamless. The front desk people were nice, efficient and I had even had a fun exchange with one of the girls about her very cute shoes. So they are snappy dressers as well :-) Thank you. I know you didn't know the circumstances...but on the heels of my mother dying...you were the best! read more

After an awful experience at the nearby Enterprise, this location had a car with a full tank at a great rate, and they were open two hours later than Enterprise.
