Great booth within airport & a seamless corporate pick up & drop off. Highly recommend this agency for rental cars.

I left my brand new toll transponder on the glass windshield and I have not heard back from lost and found !!! unacceptable I need it to drive back to Florida!

Dirt/Sand

I rented a car and was advised to return on full tank of gas. When I returned the car with more gas than I left with, I was charged an additional 40.00. 2 days later they charged me 450.00 for cleaning fee for sand being left in the car. I was not advised I needed to return the vehicle detailed. I am aggravated and disappointed in the quality of service I received from Avis. I wish I could rate them a negative 5. I encourage the use of any other car rental, just not Avis/Budget.

The emptiness reflects the lack of cars.

One word. Horrible. If you don't have Avis Preferred...don't even waste your time. The counter in the JAX airport only has 4 reps that supported Avis & Budget. The line was extremely long and I had about a 30 to 35 minute wait. Once you get to the counter to complete the paperwork, it isn't that bad. I think the check in process itself is quite streamlined. However, once you get all of that completed and head to the garage to get your car... That was another story. Once you walk out to the garage, and you are met with another line in order to go to the booth to get your car. Once you go to the booth, they will tell you to wait around until they call the car's license plate number located on your paperwork. Apparently there were no cars ready and all cars were at the car wash. I had to wait another 15 minutes to have my car pulled around. When I thought I was ready to go, I opened the trunk I order to put in my suitcases, and the trunk was full of trash. So they had to take the car back to the car wash to clear out the trunk. I had to wait another 15 minutes for them to come back. That is bananas! Why would they not be prepared for the reservations already waiting? Overall this was the most time-consuming process I have ever gone through. if I've ever flying into Jacksonville international Airport, I will try another car rental company. I don't think I will ever come back to Avis.

Still waiting over an hour, they only have 1 employee working the booth. This is not what many of us experienced.

This has to be the slowest car rental counter I have seen. Long lines, no sense of urgency, and some folks standing around.

A quick tip for others: do not rely on garage staff for directions if you are unsure, as an employee misdirected me to the end of the facility, forcing me to loop back around. Once I reached the correct Alamo return lane, the inspection process was seamless and incredibly fast--I was in and out in less than five minutes.

As we were waiting in the Atlanta airport and our flight continued to be delayed. I looked at my Alamo reservation to see if that would be a problem. It was stated that as long as I registered ahead of time, even if it was past 2:30 AM, we would go directly to the lot and find our car with the keys inside and I could be scanned out with my ticket & confirmation number, my drivers license and my credit card. There was no one there and all the exits were blocked. We called a 24 hour assistance line that said we would have to wait until 6 AM. We are now sitting in the airport at 5 AM after a long day of traveling and delays. We will have had no sleep and we still have to drive an hour when Alamo's desk opens at 6 AM. I am hoping our whole trip gets comped because of this if not, I will be taking it up with the Better Business Bureau.

They did annoyingly scam me by charging me for 1/4 tank of fuel even though the needle was barely below full and at most needed a gallon and probably less. I don't usually rent from them but if did so this time since they were the cheapest option. The fuel charge scam is annoying but I'll rent from here again if the price is right.

I had a work trip to Jacksonville & arrived at the airport to pick up my rental. Since I made the reservation within 24 hours of arrival, I was informed that I needed to physically go inside the airport to sign the contract. Thankfully, the line was short and I was able to head back outside pretty quickly to retrieve my vehicle. I located my rental, a Dodge Durango, loaded up my belongings, and got inside ready to head out. Unfortunately, the main screen was completely black and wouldn't turn on. I tried troubleshooting it myself, but nothing worked. I walked back to the counter and was assisted by Lachele. I explained the situation, and she mentioned the Durango was brand new and had just come in, so there shouldn't have been any issues. She came out and tried everything I had already attempted, but the screen still wouldn't power on. She then remembered that sometimes new vehicles can be in "ship mode." We quickly looked it up, followed the instructions, and thankfully the screen came on. I really want to give a shoutout to Lachele for her patience, professionalism, and willingness to step in and figure it out instead of brushing it off. She stayed calm, worked through the issue with me, and made sure I was taken care of before sending me on my way. Great customer service goes a long way, and she definitely delivered!

I hate to complain about a compliment, and I probably wouldn't even mention it if the rest of this…read moreexperience had been good -- but unfortunately, it was terrible. At the Hertz counter, the gentleman helping us started our interaction with, "You're beautiful." I found that inappropriate and unprofessional. He had a strong accent -- I believe he may have been from Sweden -- and I was having a hard time understanding him, which certainly wasn't his fault. The real problem was that his coworkers were SO loud that I could barely hear him. I kept apologizing and asking him to repeat himself over and over. He finally, and very politely, asked his coworkers to lower their voices. One of the women aggressively turned around and told him/us to "CALM DOWN!" Girl... **you** need to calm down. At that point, I was just ready to get out of there. During the rental process, I was told -- or at least I *think* I was told -- that it would be cheaper to use Hertz's prepaid gas option. Something was also said about toll roads, and I was handed an insurance pamphlet, so I chose what I thought was the least expensive insurance option. Whether declining insurance altogether was an option, I honestly couldn't tell you. By that point, between the noise, difficulty hearing and understanding what was being explained, and the overall chaos at the counter, I basically just said yes to everything so I could get the hell out of there. And I definitely paid for it. I drove a total of **99 miles** and was charged **$87.48 for prepaid fuel**. I'm from California -- I'm very familiar with painfully high gas prices -- but almost $90 in fuel to drive 99 miles is ridiculous, especially after being told that using Hertz's gas option would be cheaper. I was also charged **$44.97 for tolls -- and we did not go through a single toll.** Not one. So I'm not sure what exactly I paid $44.97 for there either. On top of that, my bill included: * $134.99 for LDW * $29.97 for Premium Roadside Service * $87.48 for prepaid fuel * $44.97 for toll charges -- despite using no tolls * Additional fees and taxes **Total: $363.29** For a three-day rental in which I drove **99 miles and used zero toll roads.** The Jeep Wrangler itself was awesome, though, and now I want to buy another Wrangler, so thanks for that added expense too. Kidding aside, the vehicle was great. The customer service and the way the additional charges were presented and explained were not. I should have slowed down and questioned every charge before agreeing to it, but customers also shouldn't have to fight through a loud, uncomfortable, chaotic counter experience just to understand what they are purchasing. I left feeling like I had said yes to a bunch of things I didn't fully understand simply because I wanted to get out of there -- and that is not how a rental-car experience should feel. www.Hertz.com

The first time I went to the airport to pick up my car, there was only a short wait to get to the counter, but then I was advised that they did not have a vehicle comparable to the one I reserved, and initially told me it would be at least an hour before said vehicle would arrive from another location. Needless to say, I was very frustrated at that moment and was deciding whether not to go to a different rental agency. However, I asked them if they would supply a different vehicle at the same rate if they had anything available. The counter agent replied that yes they could, and they had a minivan available, so I excepted that (even though I knew the gas mileage would be much worse than the vehicle I was going to rent). The vehicle itself was clean and was fine for the purposes for which I was renting it. When I returned it, I had no issues doing so. I had to go on business this week, and again selected a vehicle from here because it was proximally $20 less than the other rental agencies, at least through the third-party portal. I arrive 10 minutes before my pick up time, to find there was six or seven people in line. There was only one counter agent, and it took over 50 minutes for that employee to be able to work with the customers in front of me. I overheard the customer in front of me become agitated when the employee advised that, in addition to providing a drivers license and the proof of payment, they would also have to provide "local resident verification documentation." Apparently, they and other agencies are having issues with local renters, so they were requiring something such as a bank statement or utility bill that had a local address matching the drivers license. A customer in front of me stated that this requirement did not appear anywhere, to which the employee advised that it was on the terms and conditions on their website, and it was posted next to the rental desk. I will upload a picture of the"Posted information" for this. Needless to say, this type of information never appears on third-party rent all entities, but I fortunately thought quickly and had access to a bank statement. So, when I reach the desk, I immediately presented drivers license, form of payment, and displayed the bank statement, and the employee was able to quickly process me in and out in less than five minutes. This time, they had my vehicle and that it was clean and fuel-efficient. , My two day rental (compact) only $60, with unlimited mileage. So, everyone should make sure they are familiar with local rental requirements, and be prepared for potential long waits. The employee was very friendly and I think was doing the best he could, but staffing during busier times should be addressed. If they can continue to have very competitive rates, I will continue to consider renting through them.
