I was compelled to write this review after 2 great experiences at this Avis location because of Mas. Mas is the only reason to rent from this location. He makes the process easy by being courteous and helpful. After watching. I noticed he is a one man show. Our car got stuck in the shop. Then a couple months later. It happened to another car of our. Both times. Mas made it easy.

The manager here was ridiculous and treated us as scammers. Using corporate rate, I booked the rental through my workplace under my fiancé's name to go to SFO. He went to pick up the car, but the manager refused to give it to him and insisted that I must also be presented with my work ID. We had rented with Hertz before the same way, and he went to pick up the vehicle by himself just fine. Not sure why he would got rejected this time. Since I was at work, I was not able to go there with him, so we told her we could provide the photos of my work ID, my ID, and even our flight itinerary to prove that we were indeed traveling together to the airport, so I would definitely be in the car. She refuse to help and said people would abuse the cooperate rate if they just rent for their friends or other people, so she needs to see me in person. That's non sense! She shouldn't assume that her customers were scammers, and we have documents to prove that we were indeed the people renting and driving the vehicle. If you have such policy, you have to be clear and specific during the booking process, but it didn't specify that I had to be present at the time when we pick up; especially the reservation is under my fiancé's name. Later on, she tried to explain to my fiancé with a digital copy of the fine print, but it still didn't say the booker has to be present to show the ID if the booking was reserved under another person that's traveling together. Also, the fine print made it seems like the manager has the discretion to choose whether or not to help or reject the customers in such situation, I understood that there could be scammer, but when a customer could provide so many documents to prove their legitimacy, the manager should put customer service first and help the customers with difficult situations than to insist that she was 'right'. She could have helped us, but she chose not to! We have no other budget rental choice at that moment without corporate rate. I ended up having to call off from work and picked up the car myself!!!!! The car she gave us was with scratches and the maintenance light was on!!! This made me regretted that I did not book through Hertz this time as Hertz often gave us the brand new clean car and sometimes with free upgrade. I swear I will never ever use Avis again! The way they do business is just insensitive and didn't consider the customers' needs. I would love to share this ridiculous experience with my coworkers and friends! Do not recommend renting from here.

Windshield crack. They're comment "it's ok you purchased insurance"

Last time I rent a car here. They have all these added fees that's not on the print out itself but handwritten on the invoice like if there's a hint of smoke smell, sand, pet hair, mud, grass etc that they charge extra for cleaning. They gave me a car wind a cracked windshield. Told the employee about it and he said not to worry about it cs I have insurance. I explained to him that if the crack gets bigger then I can get a ticket for the windshield. No reply. I'll take myself to enterprise across the street next time. They have better customer service and looks more legit. This place looks like a fake Avis.

I rented a car from Sacramento airport that turned out to be an old Camry with over 42,000 miles on it with bald tires and it was dirty. After calling customer service, if you can even call them that. They said I could come here to get an available car and switch it out. I read on another website that this was a good location and I was ready to agree until I tried to make the switch. The lady in this office is thoroughly unhappy with Budget/Avis as a company. She complained that all of the managers were off, no cars were going to be shuttled to her location and here is the kicker she was upset that I was bringing her a bad car to trade for a good car. She showed me emails from some lady that said there would be no help for them during this holiday time. No accommodating customers just rent the cars out. She asked to take a look at my car we went outside and she said she would have to charge me for the rock hit on the windshield. I had not had the car for 24 hours, I picked it up from SMF in the dark before they were about to close. No one did a walk around with me at all, but I was going to have to pay! She continued to complain about the company and how they should have sold the car they gave me because of the milage. I tried to be understanding about her frustrations with corporate but I was reaching the limits of my patience. I had to take a breath and pray before allowing my emotions to control me. I told her that this is not my fault. I ordered a car and I work hard for my money. I am just there to trade the car out and be on my way. She told me that if it wasn't full then I needed to put gas in it. The Customer Service Rep told me I did not have to because of the nature of the situation. She said they put no notes in the system so I have to go get gas. I went back into the car and turned it on, the tank still said full. I came back and told her that then she said I needed to go anyway because as soon as her next customer drives off the tank will go down. I did not go get more gas, she did point out that I was paying $17 a day for insurance, I did not ask for this insurance but it was added by the airport. It covered the rock mark on the windshield which was a blessing. I would have had to pay for that even though I did not do it. Finally I got a car, a white Camry with over 30,000 miles. The interior spelled like smoke, there were paint chips all over the car and guess what? The tires were bald too! I had no choice but to take this horrible car I definitely didn't want to go back inside and get all of the complaints about this company from the woman again so I left. It was awful! Here are the reasons I would never rent from Budget/Avis in Sacramento again. Horrible cars that should be taken out of commission, bad customer service, no empathy or understanding when it comes to giving the customer what they need and what they work hard to pay for. It is the epitome of greed and I can't trust a company that doesn't care for its customers. Here is a tip to the Indian woman who owns this location on Elk Grove Blvd. Sell this franchise you are clearly unhappy with your investment and how corporate is treating your location. Start your own rental car company that provides better quality cars and good customer service. You might need to bring in someone from the outside to do the customer service because honestly when someone is renting a car all they need is a decent car, when they have to come to your location to trade the car they do not care about what is going on behind the scenes they just want someone to do what they need and send them on their way. Getting a replacement car from you was one of the most stressful experiences I have ever had with renting a car. I am glad I wasnt in town for a funeral or something traumatic because hearing all of your complaints would have broken me down. I give you 2 stars because I think you are a nice person but I also feel like you complained because trading the car for me wasn't going to make you any money. If that is true it is sad. Companies like Southwest Airlines and Amazon are successful because they put there customers before the money. By doing that first they have made record profits and are leading in revenue. Take a page from their book or go do something else no one wants to hear about your issues with the franchise, it's not professional. One more thing I noticed last night the breaks were grinding. They don't check these cars they just send them out. Not safe at all.
