    Boo! Not a great experience. I normally use National car rental but decided to change it up and after waiting almost 3 hours for my car at the airport, they gave me keys to the wrong car. The wait was definitely the issue and it would have been nice to at least have a good customer service experience but sadly that wasn't the case.

    As a former Avis employee, I'm deeply disappointed by the treatment we received at the Austin location on the night of May 23rd. We arrived around midnight with a confirmed reservation for a gas car. The line was long, but what made it worse were the two women working loud, disrespectful, and shockingly rude to almost everyone in line. They weren't just unhelpful they were straight-up mean. One customer ahead of us slammed a pen and paper on the counter out of frustration with how rude one of them was. It wasn't just us everyone around us was being treated poorly. When my husband asked to speak to a manager, they wrote down a number and told him to call. At around 12a.m., he called Jermaine, who answered and immediately dismissed everything he said. He didn't listen, offered no help, and then hung up the phone in my husband's face. Completely unprofessional. We were bounced around from downstairs to upstairs with no one taking responsibility. And when my husband calmly voiced his frustration, one of the women accused him of being aggressive and said she was calling security. It was ridiculous. We came back the next morning and were helped in five minutes by a different employee with zero issues. Clearly, the staff that night just didn't want to do their jobs. Avis, this was disgraceful. I know how customers should be treated because I used to work for this company. What happened on May 23rd was unacceptable.

    The car they wanted me to have was so dirty (fully stained seats. Super gross and a smell.) I asked for a different car. That second car was better but had a spilled milkshake or something on the console. So obviously not cleaned before I got it. I also suggest giving the staff scooters or roller skates. The lot is so big they spend so much time walking around. They could be more efficient. I don't know why I keep thinking Avis will get better. Always disappointed.

    Vehicle not ready. Waited over 40 minutes. Vehicle damaged front end bashed in, but was assured that it "had been noted" already. Still praying we don't have an issue on this. Counter tech was not trained fully and failed to use the instruction binder but another clerk joined us eventually despite our clerk saying no thanks, and she got it done. Counter tech then informed us that getting into and around Austin had "many" toll roads. She did not inform me that there were two options- pay as you go or daily rate. I ended up with the daily rate. I then left the airport, stopped for lunch nearby and checked for the toll roads. There are only 4 and all are optional. I called Avis and requested a contract modification, even if I was stuck for the first day of coverage and was told I was out of luck and stuck with $119 cost unless I was willing to go back to the airport and go to the counter and ask for a revision. I will not be back to Avis.

    This was the worst car rental experience! Avis has their customer service people trained to be scammers and prey on folks that are exhausted and need to arrive at their destination on time. They lie and then tell you that you signed a contract - so too bad. They do not even offer paperwork at the time of checking-in. I received an email after-the-fact. I rented a vehicle from Avis at Denver International Airport recently. First time in Colorado to plan my daughter's wedding, so I didn't know any better and believed it when the lady checking me in said I should purchase a toll pass. I usually do not purchase any extras, but she was convincing and sweet, so I agreed. She told me it was only $30 to add the package on - it came out be $60.35. According to Julio from customer service (useless and quick with his responses) this was non-refundable as "stated in the contract" that I never had a chance to read. I NEVER went through a toll the entire time I was there. A total scam. The worst part was they gave me a vehicle that had been in an accident. I took inventory of the vehicle and took photos of it before leaving the lot. I should have gone back to the customer service counter, but I was exhausted from my travels and it was a total mad house there. The car was dirty, I couldn't even see out the windshield when I pulled on to the highway. I drove to my destination in the valley and was scared to death. Upon stopping, this vehicle shuts down and restarts upon acceleration. Each time I accelerated; the car stuttered and shook which nearly caused me to crash since I couldn't get across the highway safely. Julio's quick answer to this was that I was supposed to call Avis's customer service during the time of the rental (again useless, it was my fault). Keep in mind this was all during my daughter's wedding. I could go on about what a horrible experience I had. Funny thing is, I was at a gas station and another Avis customer was stalled there - he said they would never rent from Avis again! I have not received an itemized billing although I returned the vehicle 1-day ago. I hope this review helps others to shop around and read reviews. I was too busy planning a wedding to worry about reviews - a mistake that will not happen again! Lastly, when I asked to speak to a manager (someone that wasn't so useless), Julio told me I could sit on hold for up to 5 hours. Nice customer service, right?

    I've always rented my cars from here and it was always cheaper than the other car rental. I hate that they aren't as cheap as they use to be

Zak was extremely helpful, professional, and communicated everything clearly from start to finish. The checkout process was quick and timely, and he went above and beyond to explain things I didn't fully understand without ever making me feel rushed. Because of Zak's outstanding customer service, I'm officially a customer for life. I'm a co-parent and travel to Austin every other month, and Fox will continue to be my go-to rental company because of experiences like this. Please keep Zak around give him a raise, recognition, whatever you need to do because he is awesome and will absolutely continue bringing in repeat business. Employees like him make all the difference. Goodbye Budget Rental and hello Fox!

It took us more than 30 minutes to get our car from the fox rent a car. First off, we reserved a Kia Sportage online and paid for it. However, when we got to the booth, the representative kept telling us we booked a Nissan Kick. And then, he said that car wasn't available either and that we can only rent us the Dodge charger which was a sedan. It newly saying is roomy and it would have plenty of space for our things. Which was bull! When we asked for a SUV, he said he had a grand Cherokee but it would cost us$20 more per day. It was so frustrating. He wasn't trying to work with us. I thought he was being rude and took advantage of us. We ended up taking the dodge because we didn't want to pay more. By the way, it wasn't roomy at all. It was cramped inside the car with the car seat, diaper bag, and me in the back with the baby. We were so mad. We complained to wisecars.com about our situation and they said they would email fox rent a car. They got back to us and said that fox rent a car actually upgraded us to that sedan. How was that an upgrade from an SUV? I wish I read the reviews for this rental car company before we went there. Don't rent from these guys. They don't care about you.

    I was a bit taken aback to be asked to sign the contract when there was none to actually see, but…read morewas told, "Oh, we'll email it to you." Felt like signing a blank check, but I thought, "It'll be okay." However, it's been a complete fiasco to deal with them regarding being rear-ended, with the exception of their Roadside Assistance line; that guy was excellent. But apart from that, I've experienced a Hertz.com website that won't recognize the car contract or tags, the customer service line is "no longer in service", and the "contact us" form leads to a blank web page. Calling leads to a "call us again on a business day" message. I finally got a foreign call center who told me there was an accident report form in the glove box (nope!). I finally wrote up a statement and told the attendant when I turned in the car but got an "YOU HAVE DAMAGE! YOU MUST REPORT THIS!" email/text. Called the CS rep again and was told everything should be fine, since they have all the claim numbers, etc. But again today, I got the same email, demanding I account for the accident on your non-functional website. This is astonishingly bad customer service, which has taken hours of my time, day after day, and the fact that it's ongoing is even worse. It's clear that there are pervasive problems behind the scenes, particularly when they are things that should be easily addressed. :( Also, if you do book with them, look the car over and take photos--the seams were ripped in 3 places in the back seat. Lastly, be aware that if you use the toll roads, that will cost you big-time through Dollar, but you can set your GPS to "avoid toll roads" and it will prompt you to easily hop on and off the freeway at the appropriate times to avoid them entirely. :)
