It's a good place to start training to get some skills besides select or academy clubs. My older son has been training several summers and after school and now my youngest. 4 stars because you can't watch your kiddos right now they excused the COVID-19 so that they don't have to let us watch. So parents have to wait outside for a whole time in the car and AC on for almost 2 hours. Also, the place is not so clean, not sure when they clean last time? Restrooms are dirty! I would avoid this place, not worth it and your kids might end up very disappointed. They are decent coaches, but the whole place is disorganized. More than once now in just the first month we've used this place, kids and shown up and being told they are "not on the list". They have been moved to another slot, and we get no communication or warning (or being asked if the new time/day even work!). Having kids who are over and over again and at this point a 50/50 chance of going home disappointed. Maybe it gets better later in the "season" and I'll update, but somehow I doubt it. Personal touch. Clearly the folks at Avila are true soccer people. As someone who is very picky and skeptical about most coaching, especially soccer, these guys tick the boxes. They practice the beautiful game. The Sunday scrimmages are free-flowing, yet tactical. They always have several coaches, which means real time feedback and modeling, and crucially, they don't just tell the players what to do, they have them do it over, quickly. This is actual, effective pedagogy. They know the players names after just a session or two, and the main coach is a born educator. Strong ideals and a tone that invites learning while maintaining high standards. We went to the first session, and I wasn't a fan. The coach called us that night, asked for feedback and explained their philosophy. My son went back, and thank god, because I was wrong, and I enjoy each session more than the last--as a spectator! Great soccer training, but please, take the piano out of the lobby area as it just makes it unbearably loud in there. It makes no sense to have it there. Especially with the concrete floors it's extremely loud in there with 4 and 5-year-olds banging on the piano keys. No one who plays it knows how to, so they just bang and mash on the keys. There are a lot of kids in there heading to and from training sessions, so the piano just adds unnecessary chaos to an already busy environment and makes it hard to hear any of the staff. read more

Eryck runs a nice operation. The focus is very much on skill and technique development (think learning to dance). Lot's of good work on dribbling/passing/juggling. The coaches (high school/college age) do a really nice, patient (but firm) job. We did Golden Ticket and would recommend that to any kid who is passionate about getting better. The facility is indoor, so summertime sessions are much more bearable than out in the blazing sun. There are several locations, so no excess staff on hand (i.e. no receptionist). Looks like the fees get spent on coaches and the field. read more

My twin daughters have been playing soccer since they were 5 yr. old. Introduced to Avila Creative Soccer this year...and after the first 2 sessions my daughters had a higher self-esteem about their game. Performing with their soccer club....and using techniques learned at Avila...they've actually thrown their hands in the air thanking Avila. My son has been going to Avila for over 5 years, and he has learned so much over there. Lonestar may be good for training the whole team ie how the whole team should move and pass the ball, but they do not have time to train individual ball handling skills. That's where Avila excels. His small skill sessions ensures you get plenty of training with the various skills, and immediately following that, the scrimmage session ensures you get to apply those skills for the ultimate benefit. His pricing is also very reasonable.. He has great programs even in the summer.. where one low price gets you entire summer "all you can eat" access.. unlike some competitors who charge astronomical amounts. read more

I joined up at Avila Soccer about eight months ago after reading Dale C's review. I can happily affirm that this place is indeed a gem. All of the coaches and employees are personable, knowledgeable and just all around good people. The drills and techniques they use have given me a working knowledge of the mechanics behind the game. The first day I walked in door, I didn't know how to properly pass the ball. Now I'm able to scrimmage competitively with my more experienced friends. If you're looking to take your game to the next level, or just want to work out and sweat while having a great time, this is where you need to be. read more

We are fairly new to Avila soccer but I have been impressed so far with the level of instruction that my 6 year is getting. The coaches learned her name right away and made her feel welcome. I have been going to Avila Soccer for over a year and have learned so much in that time. The staff are great, Eryck is a fabulous coach and the skill level of the kids he teaches is breathtaking. The facilities are great. Good surface, air conditioned (does get hot when you're working hard) and great paintings! The co-ed adult class in the evenings is a great way to get into football. All skill levels are welcome and everyone gets to participate - there is no hiding place. This is an Austin gem. read more

Avila soccer is an excellent place for kids of all ages and skill levels to come to get better at soccer. My daughter has been going to Avila Soccer for almost 5 years and I can't stress enough what a great experience it has been to have her learn and grow in such a family type atmosphere. Most importantly, the training is very good and my kids learned their foot skills here. We have been coming for several summers and I am very happy with the training. I wish I could give the full five stars, but I just can't at the Anderson Mill location. Simple things need to be fixed. Broken doorknobs. One of the two bathroom doors does not lock. It has been broken for weeks. Possibly months. My kids have been walked in on or have walked in on others going to the bathroom. The other bathroom flushes constantly. Last year it flushed all summer. I've tried to fix the handle myself. The windows are dirty and have the same dirt and old writing on them that has been there for a few years. The other reason I can't give five stars is the refund policy... or lack there of. Regardless of whose fault it is regarding an overpayment, don't ever expect to receive a refund. You will be given a credit on your account, and if you forget you have that credit the next time you register for a session (online registrations will never apply a credit, you need to ask for it to be applied in advance), you still won't get a refund. Oh and the piano. THE PIANO. The lobby piano that is the source of all child banging at every opportunity is enough to drive me insane. I've considered offering to push it out to the street and replacing it with a nice plant. Or a pony. Regardless, like I said.... the training is great, the instructors are generally fantastic with the kids and the summer program is very affordable. We will continue to train here. read more

Avila is ideal for kids who need extra attention in specific areas of their game. Their instructors are very attentive and keep classes fun. My now 11 year old son has been attending skills and scrimmage sessions for the past two years. As a result his skills have greatly improved. The trainers are all really nice. More importantly they are knowledgeable about the skills of the game and how to deliver training to young kids. Before we moved to Austin, she was a top scorer on the San Marcos (CA) team that won AYSO City and County all-star playoffs and came in 3rd at regionals--and she continues to learn new things with every visit to Avila Soccer. There are plenty of time slots available for camp sessions throughout the day with a wide selection of specialty skill camps. This is a great way to keep them playing soccer all summer and improving in various skills. Coach Eryck has always responded to my emails/texts promptly.
