I have not been asked to write a review; this is my honest experience with Mike and Avidia. I really hope others write more as he deserves it. I am moving to a new town, and didn't have any idea who to hire for an inspection. I found him on Yelp and took a chance. It has been one of the best and easiest decisions I have made with the home buying process so far. I needed an inspection for a custom home on a decent-sized lot that required a lot of due diligence - custom home with lots of updates and modifications in a rural area. On the phone, Mike provided very reasonable quotes and clear expectations up front. He then arrived promptly on time, and literally left no stone unturned. He was personable, professional, communicative, and extremely dedicated to his work. The inspection took twice as long as expected, AND he had to commute back the next day to inspect the crawl space that the seller had to open for him, and he knocked it out of the park without even batting an eye. The inspection report arrived just two days later (it would have arrived sooner had he not had to wait on the sellers to check the crawl space). My realtor and I were blown away (and my realtor has seen a LOT of inspection reports in her day). It was the most squared away, comprehensive inspection report that I have ever seen. It gave us so much to work with to negotiate with the seller to get them to fix or otherwise be held accountable for outstanding issues with the home. His costs are absolutely reasonable, and he even gave me a military service discount. He is experienced, reliable, and was a tradesman, so he knows his craft. I cannot thank him enough, and recommend him without reservation to anyone who needs a qualified inspector who demonstrates integrity and expertise. His philosophy is "I work for you, the home buyer, period. Not only does he walk through his findings with you in tow, he provides a range of options for addressing the chink in the armor. It's an education not just an inspection. Mike is also available for follow up calls if things aren't as clear as you need them. What a breath of fresh air! I sent out a request for a roof inspection quote through Yelp. Michael responded almost immediately. After asking me a couple of questions, he quickly let me know that he is not the right person for the job I'm looking for. He gave me some good advice and guidance and pointed me in the right direction. If I were buying property, I would definitely look to Michael for the job of inspecting it before purchasing. My wife and I were buying a home up in the Tehachapi area and needed a home inspection done. We didn't want our real estate agent to choose who we used. The day of the inspection I brought my dad who's a contractor himself but isn't licensed to do home inspections.
