Earth Treks in Golden is my home gym, but I have also been to the ET Englewood (huge walls and tons…read moreof routes), Movement Boulder and Baker locations too. Due to the merger with Planet Granite/El Cap Gyms, membership to one gets you access to all the amazing climbing terrain. The amenities are amazing- lots of smaller practice walls and instruction areas upstairs, along with a fitness room/yoga studio. The cardio/weight room is well-equipped and doesn't seem to get overcrowded. One of the best parts is all the classes you can attend with a membership or day pass- strength yoga, relaxation yoga, meditation, HIIT, Prehab/Rehab for injuries, intervals, personal training, etc. There are also free member clinics on things like whipper therapy, knot tying, and techniques. Paid classes are longer and are totally worth the money and cover everything from technique and movement to leading sport climbing indoors and outdoors, and self-Rescue. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Everyone is willing to share their knowledge. And they do a great job fostering community with things like the Partner Project every Tuesday night where you can go solo and meet new climbing partners, and the Facebook trade a belay page that links up people looking for temporary or permanent clubbing partners. I highly recommend this gym if you're new to climbing or experienced. There are great routes for everyone alike on both lead and top rope. Safety is a huge priority here, and I feel much better climbing without seeing sketchy belay practices going on around me. A wonderful place for families too!

Coming from this perspective, I have obvious positive bias towards this institution. Also, whatever you get out of your education is what you truly put in. Personally, I believe that Mines is a great institution that helps future engineers achieve their potential. From my experience, Mines has provided a lot of the skill sets I've needed to become successful in my career. Also, the programs at Mines are ever changing and evolving for the better. When I was taking classes, we definitely had a little bit more of a textbook structure. However, I see classes now incorporating more hands-on assignments and topics. Interestingly, I see classes moving towards topics that will truly be used in industry. I do believe that the education that you get from Mines will help you develop the skills you need to learn and be useful to a company. Opportunity. I definitely credit Mines will all of the opportunities I've received in my a lot of my life. Mines has helped me obtain funding, internships, connections, and jobs. Outside of this, there is a lot of opportunity for studying resources and help. If you aren't doing well, there are so many resources to help you do better. It is up to the individual to make use of these resources for their benefit. With all of the help that Mines offers academically, I believe that anyone can pass if enough effort is put into it. People do have to work and go to school. If you understand your limits and your financial ability, plan accordingly to what you think you can accomplish. Don't spread yourself too thin and only take on what you can chew. Honestly, the staff has been incredible to. If you give any normal person respect, I would believe that they would treat you with just as much respect. Respect is earned and given accordingly. I have received so much help from professors and administrative staff. They do want you to succeed. They are willing to help. But, be polite. Volatile conversations don't typically get you anywhere. This has just been my experience at Mines. I tried to address some comments I've seen in some of the other negative reviews I saw. Mines is a tough school, but it can be done. With hard work you can become successful. But, it's up to you to seize your own success and to pave your own way.

They have a lap pool and they also have a warmer pool that includes a lazy river and a couple of lap lanes, along with the children's play area. We were there on a weekday afternoon well swim lessons were going on, but had plenty of space to use one lap lane and the lazy river. They have a set of steps to enter by the lazy river and they have a chairlift that enters into one of the lanes. There's also a hot tub that has steps with a rail to get in. In the family locker room there are two accessible changing rooms with a bathroom and shower, including a shower bench and adjustable showerhead. They have an automatic door opener, which is phenomenal, however, the lock is up pretty high, which makes it less accessible for wheelchair users, and short people. there are two other changing rooms in the family locker space that don't have the automatic button, adjustable showerhead, or shower bench, or grab bars on the toilet, but are still fairly large and have space for a wheelchair user There was plenty of accessible parking and automatic doors to get into the building. The space exiting was pretty tight due to how they have the chairs arranged, somebody with a larger wheelchair may have to exit through the entry lane. We also used the steam room, there was no automatic door, but the door wasn't terribly heavy. We've been to lots of rec centers in the Denver Metro area, and this is definitely one of the most accessible

If you want to play racquetball, you can check out Paddles from the front desk, workout classes upstairs, they even have kids events after hours. If you are working out and have children, make sure to drop them off in the children's pavilion while you work out and then you can take them into the pool, which does include a waterslide and a lazy river. If you want to go swim laps, they do have an open lap pool on the opposite side away from the kid pool, which is nice. There is no outdoor pool, which is the only downfall.
