Skyborne is riddled with culture problems from poor leadership, unscrupulous…read moreaccounting, contracts with 90 day return clauses, $26 hr fuel surcharges, mandatory brief times at $62 hour, and a disorganized flight line that has students sitting around waiting weeks for flights and check rides. Took me 8 months to get my PPL and $40k, finally leaving May 2023. Both long time employees and students were leaving and the Delta Propel program only exacerbated the problems there. Every student was complaining and felt trapped in contracts tied to loans that Skyborne controlled and allocated funds for inaccurately. I boldly called out leadership for their lack of care for students and was met with belligerence and disregard. The maintenance and housekeeping crew were kind, hard working, the planes were well kept and fueled but sadly, the negative culture there is killing this once legendary organization when owned by Flight Safety Academy. Do not trust what you see on fancy websites and social media. Dig into the contract, read the fine print and speak to students living there on campus. Most importantly... have a Plan B, you're going to need it to make your dream of being a pilot come true. Good luck Aviator... I'll see ya in the skies. I'm really grateful to be partnered up with my CFI Mike Cahill who was very helpful, professional, patient with me. Anytime I needed help or had a question, he was there for me whether he was working or on his day off. Personally, I felt like he went the extra mile for me to ensure I was successful passing my checkride and is a great representation of the excellence this flight school has to offer. All the staff I encountered with at this flight school were always friendly and helpful. The folks at dispatch are always welcoming, the other CFI's who helped me out with stagechecks and mocks were very helpful, and even the mechanics from Heck Air were friendly and helpful. Not once did I ever have any scheduling conflicts or cancellations. It helped that the school has a big fleet of aircraft that were always well maintained. Jordan was great to deal with over the phone getting everything squared away and helping me get a couple of reservations in the system and a checkout in their Archer scheduled quickly. Had a great experience flying with John Arevalo to combine an IPC and BFR into the checkout flight. The following day, the Archer ended up having a minor maintenance issue preventing me from flying it during my night reservation - Jordan worked to get me into a Cessna instead, and covered a last-minute checkout so I could still do my flight that evening...can't say enough how happy I was to rent from people like these guys and gals that go above and beyond. Planes are well-equipped and maintained, would gladly rent from here if I was a local. If you're visiting the area like I was and want to fly, look no further. There is no right or wrong time. You just have to do it and it will all work itself out. So here I am, 42 years old, father of three girls with an amazing wife and I decided to just do it. I looked at three schools that were all of equal distance from where I live and decided to go with Aamro in WPB off Beeline (SR 710) just north of PGA Blvd and I'm glad I did. When you start learning, it becomes part of your life. The employees become almost family. You are always in contact with them making and planning flights. At times it might become overwhelming but let me tell you, everyone I have meet at Aamro have been amazing and have treated me like family. I recently completed my checkride as Private Pilot and the CFIs I have had and met along the way at Amaro have been just amazing. Sophia is my go to CFI and I highly recommend her as her personality, experience, and passion for flying is exceptional. Jeffery is another CFI that I have had and when Sophia was not available, he was always there for me as they all were.
