Centrally located on 42nd and Tennyson with basketball hoops, ping pong tables, bocce ball, a playground, and several benches the park has the usual amenities. Nice walking paths through and around the park make it easy to traverse the nearby neighborhood on wheels or with stroller/pet. You can park on either side of the park and almost all street parking in the area is free two hour parking. Apart from the "baseball diamond" and outfield in the northwest corner of the park the playground is the southern focal point. A few slides for the small structure playground but certainly enough for the crawler to six or seven year range. On the weekends this park is swamped with families and wagons so if you'd like some quieter times I highly suggest mid week sunup to around two in the afternoon. Great lunch spot if you work nearby on Tennyson and want to enjoy the sun and weather. Also a solid spot to stop over and read a book or just enjoy a coffee, ice cream, or other Tennyson business treat you splurged on for yourself.

Looking for a nature inspired park? This is the place to go!…read more This is a nice 6-acre neighborhood park with a few activities available. There are walking trails, a play area, & an exploration area. This is not your typical plastic play equipment type of playground. In fact, it all blends into the landscape so fantastically well! It looks so natural, which was the goal, so kudos to everyone who imagined and made this park what it is! There are three separate play areas: 1) basket swings are suspended between large beams 2) jungle gym with a small climbing rock, a climbing net, and a couple of thick ropes 3) a large "fallen" tree trunk for climbing on The play equipment was made by: Handcrafted Nature's Instruments. Within this First Creek Park is the First Creek Exploration Play Zone. This Exploration Play Zone is what I came to check out. It is a little section which facilitates discovery and learning. More parks could set aside a small area like this! There are signs with suggestions, information, and question prompts. It's pretty cool! There are benches in the shade near the exploration area. This park has no restrooms and no parking lot that I could locate. I parked in the residential street near the end of E. 54th Avenue. Read the parking signs to make sure you're legally parked. I didn't explore every corner of this park, so I look forward to seeing other people's pictures of what I missed!

Put on by The Sie Film Center. The season is short, so get your movies in, but not too many of you cause the park is only yay big, lol. They also have a few food trucks and a bar to buy drinks during the movies, but the drinks are extremely overpriced. Even from this year compared to last they jacked them up, I believe. People need to stop charging so much for a 5-6% can of whatever or any kind of alcohol. Instead of making $$$ in sales you're going to make $ because no one wants to pay that price. But, anyway, you can also bring in sealed beverages up to 32oz, I think and snacks. I wouldn't even have recognized this park much if not for the movies they show in summer.

We parked on Bannock for $2/hour and it was a very short walk. It's family-friendly but also makes for a unique date night. The Food Truck: They have food on site separate cost and the ginger tea and empanada I had were the perfect waiting for my turn snacks. The Guides: This was my favorite part. The people running the telescopes are so friendly and informed. They aren't just reciting facts; they are genuinely passionate about what they do. They explained how Jupiter has 70+ moons and showed us four of them. I'll never forget the rotten egg moon the one that smells like sulfur! Price & Timing: It's only $5 per person. You get a 30 minute timeslot, which is plenty of time to rotate through all 8 or 9 telescopes and see the Moon's craters and the planets. Overall: If you're visiting or just live nearby, go check this out! It's cheap, fun, and you learn so much without having to drive far out of the city.
