Had to cajole him into actually testing the gems, and wouldn't even look at some of the pieces closely. Was driving a hard bargain and tried to buy an antique coin off me for its weight in gold because it was "basically worthless". Showed him a piece I was wearing that I had recently appraised at $1000 just to see what he would say, for comparison, and he snorted. Brought them to a different appraiser who treated me respectfully and got each of them valued at a couple thousand a piece. This guy's a shyster. Stay away.

I wore it a few times and then the clasp broke. I returned to McTamney's, and the clerk agreed to replace the clasp. When I picked up the bracelet yesterday, I was shocked by a bill of $130 for the clasp & labour. It's not the amount but the fact that it's their product which broke. Turns out because the goods are pre-owned, they will only stand by their products for 14 days. That's it! I value customer experience and am amazed that a store with such long standing history, does not provide a better experience. I complained and the best the clerk offered was for me to pay 50% of the repair bill, for the broken product from their store. Very disappointed. Will take my business elsewhere.

My fiancé and I had literally just gotten engaged the morning we decided to go to Spence to pick out an engagement ring for me (my fiancé wanted this to be an experience we could enjoy together), so we went to Spence just to look since everything was still so fresh and we wanted to enjoy the engagement part. However, that didn't last long. We were paired with a salesman named Arya (no longer employed there) who made us feel pressured, belittled my wishes, and only showed us their "artisan" diamonds (mined diamonds were not even mentioned during this experience). Eventually after trying on rings and asking questions when we could (he split his attention between us and another couple), he took us to a room and talked my fiancé into a larger diamond than I felt comfortable with (my fiancé is paying for the ring, but I have to wear it everyday). We were pressured to put a refundable "hold deposit" on the diamond we chose, despite my telling Arya repeatedly that we literally just got engaged and weren't ready. We went back 2 weeks later to collect our hold deposit and try our luck at their Mississauga location. I'd love to say that experience went over better, however, that would not be the truth. Needless to say, I will not be a returning customer to Spence for anything important. If I want a paid of artisan diamond stud earrings, sure, but for a piece of jeweler I will be showcasing on myself for the rest of my life, not a chance.

Gavin's service and attention to my need was extraordinary, especially since a half-dozen other jewellers turned me away. The price was excellent but he went above and beyond. Gavin was able to take the leftover pieces from the bracelet and create earrings for my wife. Initially, they needed an adjustment but again, Gavin to the rescue! Everything was perfect.

I had already (surprise) proposed to my fiance with a placeholder ring - the next step for us was to start shopping. We heard about Hollywood Diamond through word-of-mouth, and thought we could sit down to educate ourselves about diamonds, as well as try on some settings. Thach and his wife had the patience of saints to sit down with us for 2 hours to educate us on the 4 C's of a diamond, lab vs. mined, sizing, settings, literally any question and concern we could think of - Thach took seriously and alleviated our thoughts. Overall, it was a very pleasant, low pressure experience and to seal the deal, the pricing was unbeatable when we compared to online retailers. The cherry on top was that we were visiting from Vancouver, and Hollywood Diamond was able to get the ring completed for us in 10 days! That's unheard of, and we are grateful to the Thai family for going above and beyond.

My FH got my dream ring made at Hollywood Diamond!…read more Have you ever spent hours looking on Pinterest and compiled photos for your inspiration board? Well I had one for engagement rings. (A girl can dream a little.) So years ago I sent my BF a picture of a ring. I didn't think he would have saved it and it was a low resolution photo too (our phones' quality weren't as great as they are now). He told me he went to Hollywood Diamond with this photo and they worked with him every step of the way to recreate this ring. They showed him the diamonds available. They also taught him how to look at diamonds and understand the quality of each. They had a prototype made so he can see how the band would look before placing the diamonds on. They did a few adjustments until it was perfect. He told me the whole process took less than a month. I'm so in love with my engagement ring. It is a dream come true! I no longer have to look at photos since I can wear it in reality. I did have to get my ring resized. Did you know that your fingers thin during the winter? They gave me those ring guards for free! The ring resize process was effortless. They had the ring ready for pick up the very next day!
