Ouistreham is a wonderful town. The longer you stay, the more things you discover. Great restaurants, nice bakeries, good shopping, nice location in the north of France, a long wide beach and a charming boardwalk.
This walking / shopping street here is the heart of town. Leading towards the lovely beach. Most of it is traffic-free and on some days there is a nightmarket as well.
It's lined with lots of wonderful restaurants, bistros and cafés. A handful of bakeries and lots of different kind of shops. Yes, there are tourists, but many are locals. Not many international visitors (except maybe from the UK, coming or going by the ferry). It really feels authentic here. It gets busier in the late afternoon and evening. In daytime (or on rainy days) it's more quiet.
For clothing and more check out the "Texti". And if you want some of the best cakes, patisserie or macarons in France, then check out the "Atelier Gourmand" bakery.
It's really a fun thing to do here in town, walking this street. We came here every day before dinner. Never got boring and always found something new and interesting. And always bought something in said bakery. read more
