Cool street art
Jon W.

The main tourist spot of Tijuana where you'll find souvenirs, bars, restaurants, coffee shops, cigar shops, and the donkeys painted like zebras (which is sad to see cause the donkeys stand there all day in one spot not allowed to move) The famous arch of Tijuana is on one end of the street closest to border. There's a line of little street vendors next to the arch in front of the Nelson hotel. The world famous caesars restaurant is also located on this street. This is where the Caesar salad was invented. A must see when you come so you can see them make the salad dressing from scratch in front of you and feel the history while you're here. As you keep going down the street you'll see multiple pharmacies hotels and even a casino. Eventually the street starts to look all the same. The world famous red light District is also not too far away from this street so you can walk there as well and check out some off the ladies who are willing to make your fantasies cum true for $100 lol check out my review for Hong kong and adelitas for some useful tIps if you're planning to stop by. Enjoy your sightseeing in Tijuana it's a great place to experience a different world just across the border.

A great view of Tijuana.

" Avenida Revolucion " is the touristic area you want to stay in if your planning to head down this way! There are many restaurants and bars on the strip and souvenir shops etc. I recommend fish tacos and Piña Coladas these Seem to be the signature food and drink of the area. And the food is great in the places we visited. There's the arc you do not want to cross down or else enter at your own risks. Maybe here and there you can stray from the main (Revolucion) avenue but I wouldn't recommend going too far away from it. There are plenty vendors roaming the streets selling jewelry, offering to draw you, or play their mariachi. You can ignore them or say No thank you. They can be persistent but very harmless. I will tell you One of the Important Things We were NoT made aware at any time while we searched everywhere & conversed with many people about going down to Tijuana. I will give Yelpers this piece of information. CROSSING THE BORDER Back into U.S. Soil was a Massive line of roughly 2,000 people. You MUST have Patience For it. UnLESS you purchase the Sentri for 130.00 bucks which saves you hours but is pricey and made for frequent Mexico travelers.

My stomping ground in Tijuana, this street comprises the heart of Zone Centro. It has a good variety of bars and restaurants. Of which, my favorite are: Caesar's (restaurant where the caesar salad was invented), Las Pulgas (nightclub), and Coco Bongo (nightclub). There are many other small restaurants that I've visited, whose names I forget. But I can tell you that their food is awesome, and you get more bang for your buck south of the border. The nightlife and restaurants on Revolution Avenue run from Cohauila on the northern boundary and 9th street on the southern boundary. Zona norte runs from first street to the US-Mexico border, and is a dangerous area. Stick to Revolucion Avenue, and do not go into the side streets in this zone. Plaza del Mariachi is a side street adjacent to 1st street and Revolucion, and you can buy plenty of souveniers and food during the day. At night, it is the West Hollywood of Tijuana. There is plenty of police presence, as well as taxi cabs. A cab ride to the border crossing with run you about $5, and it is recommended to take a taxi rather than walk the dark streets alone. The cops, contrary to popular belief, are actually pretty friendly. The trick is not to do anything stupid, and use common sense.

It's the "Mos Eisley" of Earth!

Tijuana Walking Tour - Mexican border mural!

Tijuana Walking Tour

If you live in San Diego (or Southern California), you must book this tour…read more We have lived in San Diego for nearly 30 years, but haven't been to Tijuana in literally decades. We've been wanting to visit TJ but we didn't want to sit in traffic to cross the border. We finally discovered Tijuana Walking Tours. We booked a private tour for just the two of us. Our guide was Fernando, and he met us on a rainy day a few days before Christmas. We walked across the border pretty quickly, and then headed to our first stop at CECUT (Tijuana Cultural museum). That was a beautiful museum - and great gift shop too! After that we went to Mercado Hidalgo (spice market), where we did some shopping and had lunch. Fernando was helpful in providing more context to some of the food items in the market. We even tasted some local candy in the candy store. Lunch was awesome (too bad I can't remember the name of the restaurant). After that we went to the area around Avenida Revolucion and saw some back alleys with very interesting murals. We visited the cathedral, and lastly stopped by a beautiful gift shop which sold high-quality artistic goods, rather than the usual souvenirs. We took taxis and Uber around Tijuana. Fernando paid for everything up front; and then we paid him in cash for the transportation costs at the end of tour. Fernando had a very easygoing personality. We were impressed with his enthusiasm in sharing his knowledge and love for Mexican history/culture. So if you live in Southern California, definitely take the time to learn more about our neighbors down south with Tijuana Walking Tour. You'll be glad you did!

A very underrated little city with sometimes a bad rep. But like the homie Ace wrote in here, don't…read moreknock it till you come here. I lived here for a few years only & being kids that came from National City from the age of 11 to 14 it took me & my brothers a bit to fit in. But eventually we did. Yes it feels at times like you're in Mexico, there's it good & bad areas but mainly they have good areas. I grew up in their baseball fields playing little league in Larson Field now called Chavez Park & at the Boys & Girls club loved both areas it kept us out of trouble. Sometimes we hid the illegals under the bench in the dugouts during little league games. We hid them from the Border Patrol as they searched thru the baseball field. Fun crazy times. And the food, man the food. It's great, from Mariscos to tacos & Chinexican food (Chinese/Mexican food) & Mexican candy stores most of it all good. That's the part that you sometimes feel like you're in TJ & that ain't a bad thing. Love Taco Revolucion & Fish Mart & Ying Li's, 3 of of my favorite restaurants. They got a Mexican Pizza place as well & when you're done eating you have to go to the Outlets, Las Americas, the best outlet in all of San Diego! And their building a Smart & Final now, that should be a hit. There is a couple bad things here tho. Yes it has its poor areas but every city does. The crime rate here ain't really high as far as violence goes. But break ins of cars & houses is a problem, not big but can be a problem. The schools unfortunately are not very good in test scores their pretty low. That's something I hope they can improve on. But for the most part San Ysidro is beautiful & gots great food & shopping locations. A great place to spend the day in. And I can't forget their church Mt. Carmelo, beautiful & they have a big area where you can eat right afterwards with many different kinds of food that people make. So you can go clean you're soul in church then afterwards fill you're stomach. Make an event going there to San Ysidro, have fun shopping & eating, I know I do. Till we meet again Sidro you stay cool mi amigos!

Growing up playing in the streets was safe back in the day. We used to walk to one of the various liquor stores to buy candy and cigs for my aunt. Where my aunt lived it was a tight knit family type of community. Sadly, things have changed quite a bit. Not just here but everywhere. You may still be able to find a few family type neighborhoods if you look :-) Such great memories of my childhood, San Ysidro will always have a special place in my heart!

We…read moreoriginally went to re/enter at Ped West and was an hour early and was rerouted here after 38 mins due to the early cut off and turned us away. Then there was the walk over to Garita side San Usidro/PedEast and the heat was intense. By the time we got here the line was wrapped around so rough estimate at around 2pm was going to be about 3+ hours long. After about 30 mins of the line barley moving we paid $30 usd each to hop on a bus via sentri to get expedited transport to the U.S. Customs and Boarders patrol line. Still 30+ mins but we were sitting. If you are crossing during the summer, bring water, wear sunscreen, and have a backup plan. The wait can change quickly, and the heat is no joke. We even had one of those spf umbrellas that we shared but it was still bad. There are a couple shops and vendors you can get beverages from but the line moves so slow. I would also recommend using the restroom before you start the journey. About 8 or 9 years ago was the first time that I got the SENTRI pass, (for those of you who don't…read moreknow what that is, it's essentially a fast-access card that allows you to cross the Mexico-US border in a significantly shorter amount of time. Instead of doing a couple of hours in line, you would only wait 20 minutes) However, four years ago this magic card expired,... and I was left with no other option but to wait in line anywhere from two to four hours in line. Oh the tragedy! Luckily, nowadays the line has been significantly shorter. Last time I crossed the border (this morning) there were no more than 5 cars ahead of me. My waiting time was less than 30 minutes. They opened up all lanes, they doubled in border patrol agents, and they're overall more effective and efficient at checking people across. If you're traveling back from Mexico into the US, fear no more! You won't be waiting for long in line. This is in my opinion the best port of entry there is in Tijuana. For an added bonus, you can still do some awesome last minute border shopping. Burritos and Raspados Playas are my favorite items to get when I get the chance to eat some.
