We used to, but all changed after 9/11. But once there, go to Avenida Revolucion Street. It is crowded as heck, but lots of fun. Now, your wallet is in your front pocket, your back pack is well sealed and no you don't want to buy junk from the street vendors. You never pay full price there, except at the eateries and there are some great ones--DO NOT drink the water. Have soda. There are some super places to eat there. I do eat the street tacos, my husband refuses because their hands are not super clean. I risk it and have never gotten sick. They have so many stores, but a lot of the bags are fake so be careful. They have some great fake bags, but if you think you are getting a Hermes bag for 5K you have lost your mind. The pharmacies are great. You can get your scripts filled there for less, much less, than the US and they have stuff you don't need a scrip for, but go to a real pharmacy there, not some dump or who knows what you will get. Don't be stupid. Don't get plastered and act like a stupid American. You may find yourself in jail. Follow the street signs. Everyone is super nice. The American tourist behavior I find appalling, and I am from the US. Don't just walk around off the main street at night. Do not go to the Red Light District. Just have fun and be nice. You will be treated so well and they love dollars, so don't bother to change currency. Have fun.

I lived here for a few years only & being kids that came from National City from the age of 11 to 14 it took me & my brothers a bit to fit in. But eventually we did. Yes it feels at times like you're in Mexico, there's it good & bad areas but mainly they have good areas. I grew up in their baseball fields playing little league in Larson Field now called Chavez Park & at the Boys & Girls club loved both areas it kept us out of trouble. Sometimes we hid the illegals under the bench in the dugouts during little league games. We hid them from the Border Patrol as they searched thru the baseball field. Fun crazy times. And the food, man the food. It's great, from Mariscos to tacos & Chinexican food (Chinese/Mexican food) & Mexican candy stores most of it all good. That's the part that you sometimes feel like you're in TJ & that ain't a bad thing. Love Taco Revolucion & Fish Mart & Ying Li's, 3 of of my favorite restaurants. They got a Mexican Pizza place as well & when you're done eating you have to go to the Outlets, Las Americas, the best outlet in all of San Diego! And their building a Smart & Final now, that should be a hit. There is a couple bad things here tho. Yes it has its poor areas but every city does. The crime rate here ain't really high as far as violence goes. But break ins of cars & houses is a problem, not big but can be a problem. The schools unfortunately are not very good in test scores their pretty low. That's something I hope they can improve on. But for the most part San Ysidro is beautiful & gots great food & shopping locations. A great place to spend the day in. And I can't forget their church Mt. Carmelo, beautiful & they have a big area where you can eat right afterwards with many different kinds of food that people make. So you can go clean you're soul in church then afterwards fill you're stomach. Make an event going there to San Ysidro, have fun shopping & eating, I know I do. Till we meet again Sidro you stay cool mi amigos!

I've been here quite a bit as my momma, aunt and a few other family members lived here. Growing up playing in the streets was safe back in the day. We used to walk to one of the various liquor stores to buy candy and cigs for my aunt. Where my aunt lived it was a tight knit family type of community. Sadly, things have changed quite a bit. Not just here but everywhere. You may still be able to find a few family type neighborhoods if you look :-) Such great memories of my childhood, San Ysidro will always have a special place in my heart!

About 8 or 9 years ago was the first time that I got the SENTRI pass, (for those of you who don't…read moreknow what that is, it's essentially a fast-access card that allows you to cross the Mexico-US border in a significantly shorter amount of time. Instead of doing a couple of hours in line, you would only wait 20 minutes) However, four years ago this magic card expired,... and I was left with no other option but to wait in line anywhere from two to four hours in line. Oh the tragedy! Luckily, nowadays the line has been significantly shorter. Last time I crossed the border (this morning) there were no more than 5 cars ahead of me. My waiting time was less than 30 minutes. They opened up all lanes, they doubled in border patrol agents, and they're overall more effective and efficient at checking people across. If you're traveling back from Mexico into the US, fear no more! You won't be waiting for long in line. This is in my opinion the best port of entry there is in Tijuana. For an added bonus, you can still do some awesome last minute border shopping. Burritos and Raspados Playas are my favorite items to get when I get the chance to eat some.

People are hustling trying to make a quick buck by selling candy, toys, snacks, clothing, and of course drinks. Bathrooms are a no go, unless you get out of your car, find a toilet, remember what car you were in, find it the car, and hope your party don't leave you behind haha the waiting lines to cross to the US don't stop moving here people. You can imagine how the driver must feel if they have to go pee pee time. We had a good moving line. We were back on US soil within 25 minutes. We did buy snacks too (they looked good) but thankfully no bathroom situations. This border crossing was ok in my books. Must've been the time and date, either way a win win. Have your documents ready and prepare your bladder to hold onto your pee pee longer haha drip drip drip ;) Oh yeah.. Don't try to pet the guard dogs or throw treats at them.. They're working!
