I started going at Aveda Salon at Maine last yr month of Sept to Miss Riza Proctor to do my hair color from rooth to achieve my gray color and as i experience she did an excellent job. My appointment was Saturday morning for a wedding updo and makeup application. All staff were very professional loved the atmospher. My stylist (Johnathan?) was amazing. He quickly adapted to adding an additional service. My hair and makeup came out phenomenal and stayed flawless even after the rain. read more

Very nice staff and excellent Instructors. Sarai (student) did my highlights and did a great job. She was very, very sweet, took her time, and really listened. The only drawback is this is a school, so the atmosphere is not salon or spa like. However, I would definitely go again. read more

Went in for a pedicure. Nail technician was afraid to cut my toenails even though I asked her to trim them ; she then filed them, barely. Pretty much the worst pedicure I've ever had. You get what you pay for I guess read more

i just went to get a lash lift and tint and the student who did my lashes was very sweet and welcoming. she let me know everything she was doing and made sure i was confortable the whole time. i am super jumpy and have a really hard time especially when i can't see what's going on around me, but she made me feel very safe. the whole place was very welcoming and relaxing. there were some girls laughing in the room and one of the other students asked if we would like them to be quiet, which we declined because they honestly made the experience better. they had the most beautiful laughs and relaced me even more. the girl doing my lashes repeatedly checked in on me and made sure i was doing alright. she even gave me head massages while the products worked. great service and amazing results. this seems like a great place to learn and is definitely a great place to get pampered at. the first 2 pictures are my lashes curled with mascara before and the others are after the lift and tint with nothing else. read more

My daughter went there this morning and was absolutely thrilled with Capilo's. She had her hair washed, cut and straightened. It looks great. The staff was very friendly & welcoming. You can make an appointment but walk-ins are welcome too. The outside of the building looks a wee bit industrial but don't let that fool you. These guys know their way around a head of hair. And because it's a beauty school, the price is right. I'm taking my son there next week. Now THAT will be a challenge! read more

I always get my hair cut here as well as my six-year-old son's hair. Sometimes you get a new student and they can take a while to get it right. You just have to be patient. The low prices make it worth it, and if they do a good job you should tip. If you are very particular about your hair, this might not be the place to get your hair cut. I have always ended up with a nice haircut and most of the students/stylists are interesting and pleasant to chat with. It's also fun checking out all the different hairstyles and colors that the students sport. In my experience they are great with cutting kid's hair too, as long as you have a child that can sit patiently for a while. read more

The students a great to work with and they are willing to do anything, no matter the challenge. I have very curly and frizzy hair, they were great. I ended up getting box braids while I was their also, took a while but it was totally worth it. I would recommend anyone to go. Just got my hair colored here and it was a huge mistake. The color is bad, lacks any depth or nuance whatsoever, and my hair is now the texture of straw. I had to make an appointment at an actual hair salon to get it fixed, which is going to cost at least another $100, if they can even fix it. Going to the Aveda Institute in Augusta for color ended up costing me an extra, wasted $54 that I had to pay them, and 3 hours of wasted time. If you care about your color, don't be tempted to save a few bucks and roll the dice on this place. Avoid it at all costs. read more

I had my first cut (and I may be prejudiced as it was my granddaughter that did it!) but it was great - inexpensive, fast and a good experience all around. I'm going back in a few weeks for a color - the girls were very careful to have a teacher check out what they were going to do, asked for help when they needed it, and paid extra attention to the wishes of the clients. read more
