If you didn't eat a kebab in Berlin, did you even go? its the most iconic food in Berlin. And i was…read moreon the hunt to find the best. I tried 6+ different spots and ruyam was by far the best. Came here on a Thursday at ~11am (to avoid the lunch rush) and it was jam packed with students and working professionals. Luckily the staff here are super efficient yet patient with customers. It's self-service. You order at the counter and they'll call out your number. Many claimed their seats before ordering, which id recommend as there are only ~15 tables inside. Once I ordered, food was ready in ~5min. And it was huge! A fresh flatbread slathered with a delicious garlic sauce and stuffed with warm juicy chicken kebab sliced fresh off the spit and fresh salad mix. The thought of this kebab sandwhich is making me drool. The toppings were almost falling out because of how much they stuffed in. Probably one of the best bites I had in Berlin! And for €8, it was a steal! When I went it was not crowded and typical. The staff mentioned it's usually a 40-60 min wait with lines out the door.

The menu is very simple: chicken doner kebab, vegetarian doner kebab, or dürüm kebab. The main…read moredifference between a doner kebab and a dürüm kebab is the type of bread used to hold the meat. A doner kebab is served in a pocketed bread, while a dürüm kebab is served with a thin wrap rolled around the same ingredients. I ordered the chicken doner kebab. They accept credit cards. The chicken was somewhat salty (1 star off), but the veggies and sauces were tasty. The bread was buttered and toasted, so it had a nice crunch. The doner kebab was big and messy to eat. I wished they offered a larger paper wrapper. There was no seating, so you have to eat it while walking on the street like a savage or pick one of the dirty street benches out front to camp out at. Dürüm is neater and more portable, so you might consider that option if you're self-conscious. Tip: Grab several paper towels from the counter with your kebab *before* you get sauce and grease all over your face.
