They sent me home with information on each rock set I purchased, along with some guidence on how to find the same rocks myself in the future. Eddy is an encylopidea when it comes to rocks! WHAT A GREAT PLACE!!! Boasting the majority of all items are found and mined locally, Ava's offers pretty much everything you could think of when it comes to rocks! Sounds silly, I guess, but why bother with semantics. Outside in the yard they have dozens of large scale pieces with huge deposits of jade, k-spar, obsidian, and many other minerals.... ALL beautiful. INSIDE: the small store is packed full of so many different types of rocks I couldn't begin to list them. In addition to those single mineral pieces, they have small-large sculptures (soapstone) in the shape of dinosaurs and other fun things. I personally loved their collection of petrified wood, obsidian, jade, and fluorescent opal! Of course they also have dozens of different types of fossils to buy, as well as a full display case of jewelry! Ava was great and explaining her collections, and even told us a little about herself as we scouted through her shelves. She recommended the "rock hounding" books on one of the shelves, which provided directions to BLM sites (with specific road directions, which is insanely helpful) where other people have found specific types of rocks! I LOVED it!!!! Additionally, Ava said to come back anytime we had a rock but weren't sure exactly what it was! Great rock shop in a cool little town. Lots of Wyoming rock and minerals. Pretty jewelry and polished stones from all over. Interesting owners with actual digging experience, so great of a resource for collecting info in WY, Utah, and SD. Ava's Shop Rocks! This is one of my favorite stores in Wyoming, and we go there every single time we come to Thermopolis. The place is AMAZING, be sure you check out the glow-in-the-dark rocks! They wrote a fabulous print-out sort of book on some great rockhounding areas in Wyoming. Highly recommended! read more

This place is a hidden gem ( sorry for the pun). One of the best places we visited in Thermopolis. The owner was so nice and could not wait to show the kids different rocks and minerals.
