There is a lot to see in this store…read more It's difficult to fully capture the contents in a short visit. There was just so much to absorb. For finding supplies for a personal project, unique special items made by locals, Flying Eagle will likely have it. Art and craft supplies, framing pieces, water colors, pencils, paper, beads and string for jewelry, art, Native American products, and much more, even touristy things. There were some beautiful photographs of Native American dancers, and some Navajo herbal remedies. And just because they can, there's a small selection of candy and bottled drinks. Flying Eagle doesn't leave out gamers. They carry Warhammer, several of them. I thought I overheard the owner tell another customer they have game times. That's just one of the community events they sponsor, too. Art and painting contests are held from time to time also. It's been a while since I've been to a true arts/crafts store that carried the sheer volume of things Flying Eagle offers.

It looks like they even have art classes in the back half of the building. The longer you stay in the store, you realize they have a lot more going on. I suppose you'd have to in a little town like Thermopolis. They are also the town's one stop shop for laser engraving, custom trophies (the owner was making a trophy with a cool looking dinosaur on it when I went in), UPS and FedEx shipping, and MEN'S FORMAL WEAR? They seriously have a catalog where people can buy suits and rent tuxes for weddings or whatever. Oh, and since they were from Portland, they decided that they had to find the best coffee beans in Wyoming to sell in their store. Organic and fair trade of course.

Perhaps because HNP has vintage clothing in the back -- some fun hats from the 40s and 50s, and all nicely displayed. I was so tempted to buy one of the hats because it reminded me of one my grandma used to wear. In some shops, it can seem like the dust takes over and diminishes the fun in searching. That didn't seem to be the case here. I noticed plenty of tables and chairs and general knicknacks and all were in great shape and I didn't feel like I had dust and dirt clinging to my hands when I left. The owners were sharing a laugh about not "seeing" everything because they look at it every day; so, if someone asks for something specific they draw a blank. I get it and I'm not working in an antique store. Welcome to normal.

After going out of town to look for couches, we chose to look here locally and we're lucky enough…read moreto find something we liked. There were two that we liked and finally chose the one, telling the girl on the floor which one we wanted. It was a great situation since a family member in another town could go to their local Haskell to help pay for the couch as a gift. We were even lucky enough to get a discount since we were not financing. Arrangements were made for delivery in two days, the couch was paid for at another location, and delivery was on its way. When the couch arrived it was the wrong couch, that was $100 less than the one that we had chose. The girl had written down all the wrong information and had the wrong couch delivered. It was handy because it was local and I could go back over and correct the error. However, When I went back to the store to show her the correct couch that I wanted and to make arrangements for that to be delivered and the other one removed, the girl then asked for me to pay the difference in the couch that she was incorrect in ordering and made no attempt at trying to make it right other than to say I thought you wanted the other couch repeatedly. The manager stood right there corrected it on the invoice and also did not make any gesture towards trying to make anything right or make this easy on me. As a result of their error I was out an additional $150 which included the increase in the couch and a $35 removal fee of my couch, and the couch exchange was to occur the following day which was a Saturday forcing me to change all of my plans for the weekend because of their error. It wasn't until I pushed the issue and asked that they do something to make this right that she waived the $35 removal fee. The following day they showed up with a new couch an hour and a half later than what they told me making me again late for the my plans I had to already reschedule. I was very disappointed in the way the staff addressed the situation and will not be shopping there again unless there is different staff or different policy in place. I was also very disappointed in the manager who stood there during the entire exchange, and I knew personally, she never said a word to me. So much for shopping locally and getting Hometown service. Next time I will go out of town.
