I wish you could give half stars as this is not quite a 4 but better then 3. Nice little…read moreestablishment in a small plaza. Nice crowd for a small bar. Off the top maybe 5-6 tables and a bar that holds 10-12 people if I was guessing. Multiple TVs playing all sports. Keno, Jukebox also available. Nice neighborhood bar. Staff were very friendly even though they were busy. As for the food, I ordered mozzarella sticks, a hot Italian sub with tater tots. The cheese sticks were bad. Tiny, lukewarm and not much flavoring. Marinara dipping sauce was bland as well. Now for the sub. Unreal Italian Sub. The tots were crispy and salted. The sub was AMAZING... repeat AMAZING. Served with Italian dressing, on a toasted roll. Banana peppers, onion, tomato, with multiple meats and cheeses. Definitely a bar favorite as I saw many people eating the same dish. It's worth a visit or a try if you're in the area. The big positive of this place was the prices. $2.50 a beer and $10 for that sub. My tab was low so that's always a good thing. I would go back to this place however it might be tough sometimes if the bar gets pizza. In the plaza it sits next to a pizza place that I was told you can order the pizza from the bar and they have a window to slide the food through. I didn't try the pizza so I won't review that place. Overall, a 7.1 out of 10 with everything included.

But always check out the specials for homemade soups and more. Today I had the special: breaded pork chop with home fries and mixed veggies which was great at 15$. Cozy place. Great juke box. Located just one…read morestreet north of me on Wilson Mills & Bishop, I was never too keen on finding too much about this place either. That was until recently.... From my many drive-by's, all I knew was that it resided in an ugly brick building in a strip mall and had this ancient, medieval font signage illuminated by partially burnt-out neon lights announcing not only the name of the bar, but also proudly advertising "liquor" and "food". I envisioned a filthy saloon clogged with blind drunks, toothless prostitutes and stray dogs. Once inside, all of my preconceived notions were put to rest. Kind of.... On my latest endeavor to familiarize myself with all the little hole-in-the-wall dives in my neighborhood, a project long overdue, the Mill Tavern was one of my first stops. It was 3:30pm by the time I started my quest. At this time of the day, the only patrons are that of the unemployed, broken spirits or lost souls. By association, I suppose I was one of them. Upon my entrance into the dimly lit, musty smelling tavern, I was greeted by a friendly middle-aged bartender and a sloppy drunk Russian at the bar. I could tell the bartender was happy to have another customer. Playing from each of the TV's were Family Feud reruns hosted by Ray Combs, then at 4pm, Cleveland's own sensationalized and over-the-top news program, 19 Action News. On entertainment value alone, I was highly satisfied. The night shift bartender entered around 4pm and tugged the lights off from the swirling ceiling fans above. The only illumination left being that of the glowing TV sets & keno machines along with strings of old Christmas lights illuminating the liquor bottles behind the bar. Then, perhaps by coincidence, one of the TV's lost it's signal. The drunken Russian blamed the loss of reception on the ceiling lights being turned off. Eventually the bartender gave in and entertained his theory which turned out to be wrong. While on the topic of ceiling fans, he babbled on frivolously about the merits of ceiling fans and the advantage of having them run clockwise vs. counter-clockwise during the summer. To the bartenders disappointment, she was on her own with this one. It was time to say my goodbyes and move on. Based on the hospitality, good nature and entertainment I was treated to though, I will be back to support this long standing, community watering hole. Old Mill Tavern, it's been a long time coming. I'll see you soon.

I want them to be crispy on the outside with a mouthful of chicken in each bite and they were just that. The lemon pepper sauce was very salty, but I love salt and vinegar chips so I was prepared. You won't even be able to stand. As for my other visit, it was on a Friday night. A nice sized crowd, full bar. Sports game on the television. A nice atmosphere for a neighborhood bar. A great touch is the 1 pinball machine in the corner. Older game but it does take up something to do with friends. As with service we were told that the bar is extremely behind by a rude bartender named Meg. You can tell she was overwhelmed and just seemed to be having a rough day. A few minutes later we were told by staff that the kitchen was now closed. Pretty strange as the menu is mainly all bar served fried food or burgers etc. The bartender also announced that they were out of fish as well. I continued to order drinks, they were cold and tasted as advertised. About an hour or so later , the kitchen was then re opened when the bar was less crowded. I order a dozen wings, garlic Parmesan with ranch. The wings were real solid. Nice and crispy and the garlic and parm combo was just enough. The basket of fries we got were average fries. Not crispy, nor salty but atleast they were hot. The prices were about average, no complaints about that. Overall, the bar does not seem to handle stress or large crowds very well. My wings were good, fries were average like I said. My friends attend this bar often and did tell me that this bar is not like this usually. May have been a rough day. I assume I will be back again, I wouldn't pick this place to go to but the location is close enough to the area we hang out. Not so much of any certain type of theme at the bar but I did notice the staff recognize many patrons by name so it will continue to be the neighborhood bar for many. Overall a 6.7 out of 10.

We did not have to wait for a table, but there were a lot of folks in there including, somewhat to my surprise, at least two families with small kids. This does not bother me. In fact, it gave the crowd more of a pub crowd feel rather than a bar crowd feel. I immediately felt welcome. The place was clean, and the hostess greeted us in a friendly manner. The music, which was the topic of two other reviews (more on that later), was a tiny bit loud perhaps (I am old now, I guess) but my wife and I loved every song that was played. The track selection was right in my wheelhouse. We were seated and our waitress made her way to our table quickly. She was friendly, and offered a great suggestion. She suggested the smash burger ("I get one every time I come to work!"), and my wife and I both got one. It was excellent. Thinner than places like Five Guys and Culver's, thicker than Swenson's or McDonald's. Great flavor on the beef, fresh veggie toppings, grilled onions, and melted American cheese. The burger sauce was excellent. The bun was toasted but still pillowy and didn't make it seem like there was too much bread involved. The fries were pretty good too. They looked like McDonald's fries - almost identical to them, actually - but they were a bit crispier than McDonald's. We also ordered pierogis because it's Cleveland Pierogi Week. These were sadly not great. They were not bad. They were average pierogis topped with a cheese sauce and crumbled bacon. We ate them all, but they just weren't special. With my Coke and my wife's beer and a tip because our waitress was excellent, the tab was about $70. It was more than we expected, but we ordered more than we usually do with the pierogis, so that's on us. Based on two other reviews, there was apparently an incident with the jukebox a week or so ago. I have no idea whether the problem exists with Crowley's staff or the customers in that situation, but know this: this place is deserving of a much better rating than it currently has. I really enjoyed myself here, and every staff member I came in contact with was aces. If you like good bar food and an atmosphere like the one I described, this place deserves a shot.

Unfortunately, it just does not feel like the same place anymore. First, the addition of high tops really changes the atmosphere. What once felt upscale and classic now leans more "sports bar with expensive steaks." Maybe that is just me, but part of the appeal was the elegance and experience. Then came the steaks. We ordered three expensive steaks medium, and before they even came out, the waiter realized the kitchen heard "well done." We politely asked for it to be corrected before the food hit the table. Somehow, one still arrived well done anyway. Thankfully, someone at the table took one for the team and ate it, but when dinner runs around $600, you hope the steaks and the temperatures are both memorable for the right reasons. At one point, a side dish was dropped on the floor. Accidents happen, no big deal. But we did have to gently clarify that yes, we would still like the dish... just preferably not the "farm to floor" version. The disappointing part is that I had promised a fantastic worker and his amazing wife a really special night out. This unfortunately was not it. I genuinely hope this was just an off night, because this place used to set the standard. For now though, we will probably try another steakhouse next time.
