Scalpers is a chill neighborhood bar and grill located inside one of the many strip complexes on Mayfield Rd. There's ample parking around the complex. The bar itself is deceivingly larger than it seems when you first walk in. It's narrow up front with the bar and a few tables and then has a larger area in the back with a pool table and darts. There's plenty of big tvs, making it a great spot to watch a game. Both bartenders were very friendly and attentive. It didn't take long to get their attention and get a drink order in. They don't have many craft beers, it's mostly domestic bottles and 5 or so drafts. They do have a pretty extensive food menu with lots of burgers and sandwiches, as well as wings, interesting apps like fried green beans, and a variety of loaded fries options. While the stacked fries and tots looked super delicious, I opted for a turkey burger. It took a little while to come out, but it was worth the wait. The burger was super big and juicey. It came on a delicious brioche bun with all the fixings. It was a bit messy to eat, but so tasty and well seasoned. The fries were good also. They are a thick cut and seemed lightly coated making them super crunchy. I also got a side of this sweet bbq sauce for dipping which was delicious. I was going to ask the "bartender " if they made their own onion rings but I think they are having her funeral ...or liposuction. Not sure. The food here is generally lousy. The service.... Worse. We came here on a Friday night around 6pm and sat at the bar to watch baseball and have a few drinks. Our bartender, I think her name was Brittany, was awesome. She was very friendly, helpful, and easy to talk to. After a while, the place started getting very busy, but not annoyingly so. It's a popular place! The atmosphere was chill and fun. After a while we decided to order food. The menu is extensive; there are salads, appetizers, wings, subs, burgers, etc. We ordered the Buffalo stacked fries and the Sicilian burger sub- both were incredible. This is "typical sports bar food", but elevated! I was seriously impressed. Portions are big and everything is reasonably priced. I would definitely go back! read more

Well ... Coming from the wing town ... this was a bit of a disappointment. What I really liked was the flavor and the size (I hate ginormous wings) They were small and had a good flavor ...but they didn't seem to be cooked to order, but more of a heated up wing tossed in sauce. I prefer a crispy wing and they were a bit soggy ... This place had top notch reviews, which is why I went ..but I will admit I am a bit of a wing snob. Ordered a burger during burger week in the bar, 30 minutes later still not here. Bar is empty. Asked for lettuce wrap, refused to give it to me, stated we don't have lettuce. I have to update this one. I still LOVE this place, but I must note this. I am, and always have been, pretty thick skinned when it comes to temperature, but for some reason, they keep the air conditioning BLASTING, non stop, all day. I mean, it doesn't shut off at all. I was there this spring when it "may" have been seventy degrees, maybe, outside, and the air was blasting full blast the entire time I was there. I even asked if they could turn it down and was told "it's regulated by the owner from home". Ahhhhh, what? If you're sitting at the bar on a day that is even moderately warm, you're freezing. I'm totally cool, obviously, with AC, but if it's not 95 degrees outside - OR, if there aren't 120 people in the place, why does it have to be on NON STOP? LOL. It's not just me either, as others have commented about it too. On more than one occasion I've left because it's blowing on you FULL BLAST the entire time, as in there must be NO thermostat at all. Today is literally one of those days as I wanted to have a couple of more beers but got sick of being cold. Maybe it's a trifle point, but it's something to note. STILL a great place with GREAT employees. read more

My husband and I are attending this bar to watch the browns 1st home game of the season. We have purchased multiple drinks and several foods. After ordering a glass of wine I noticed the entire rim of my glass was filthy with lips from a previous customer. I returned my drink. My husband ordered the "stacked scalper" and as soon as we took the first bite we noticed how soggy the fries were. I had ordered cheese fries and they were fine nice and crisp and full of cheese. When we asked the waitress if we could return the soggy fries and pay the difference for something else she 1st agreed than moments master told us no. It is quiet unfortunate to come and spend money at a venue and be Unsatisfied with your purchase and the lack of customer service. read more

Got the 5$ Beckham burger during Cleveland Burger week. It was 8oz and came with bacon, which was a great deal! We weren't asked how we'd like our patty, so it came out looking like it was medium well. I usually like my burgers medium rare to medium because I find them juicier, but I found this burger to be plenty juicy! Despite a good cook and juicyness of the burger, I did not taste much of any other flavors or the thousand island sauce that came with it. I'd still say this burger does it quite well! read more

My experience was the thing of stories. I waited just to talk to someone who lied and said "they're tossing your wings now". I think it was true 20 minutes later. While I waited, I saw 3+ other folks walk in and out pissed. Also, the wings were terrible. Dry, overcooked with barely any meat on the bone. My husband and I drive past this all the time but had never made the decision to come until it was listed for Cleveland burger week as a participating restaurant. We made this our first stop on a Monday at around 4:30pm. We had no trouble parking or being seated. We just sat at the bar since it is a smaller sports bar and grille. We ordered a burger and some fries. The burger was honestly average and simple and tasted as though it could've been frozen. Been there a few times for the UFC fights, will not come back again. Last time I was there they clearly did not change the fryer oil. My friend ordered fish and it was burnt. We asked the food runner if he could take it back and get a new one. He said he wasn't sure. Came back later with burned fish again. This time we didn't see two menus with the same prices on them. My friend ordered food and was asked to pay a much higher price. It took about 45 minutes before we went up and asked where our food was and were told we'd just have to wait. Then we decided to ask to cancel and get our money back. The manager wouldn't give it back at first and told my friend they were plating his food (it arrived 20 minutes later... so about an hour total). My food never arrived and I was told they lost my ticket. They didn't offer to do anything, compensate, put a rush on it, nothing... finally I was able to get my money back after some more arguing. We're not done yet... there's more. My friend ordered three domestic beers and a coke and was charged about $30. It seems like they just made up whatever prices they wanted to at the register depending on the bartender (by the way they weren't taking orders at the tables ). The icing on the cake was the food runner cut off the interview right after the UFC main event was over and the whole bar was angry. Literally considered the best fighter in UFC history by many people and they cut off the interview. Literally the worst service I've ever experienced and the manager was extremely rude and argumentative. We didn't ask for anything unreasonable. Don't care of it's the last place on earth that has UFC fights, we will never go back there again! read more

Grubhubbed this place and was pleasantly surprised given the inconsistent reviews. I hate reviewing places based on delivery but know a lot of people are probably getting delivery or take out given COVID. We got the stacked Texan fries along with the Beckham and Scalper's Slob burgers. Amazingly, every thing turned out pretty alright! The buns were slightly steamy but not soggy and they held up the whole time. The patties are very generously portioned, had a good seared flavored, and mine was actually medium rare like I ordered. You may think paying $12-15 a burger without any sides seems excessive but I can tell you the double patty burger defeated me and my wife was stuffed after her single patty burger. We had to struggle to eat some of the stacked fries while they were fresh but we could've easily fed 3-4 people with what we got. The regular fries I did eat were decent, still slightly crispy despite sitting in car but nothing special. The stacked fries are definitely the way to go if you ah e room but I would stay away from their BBQ sauce as it kind of overpowers everything and makes everything borderline too sweet. I wish they had a spicy melt-your-face burger considering the wide menu they offer but alas no luck. Overall they're not the cheapest nor the most gourmet but their burgers are definitely satisfying. I'd recommend giving this place a shot if you're looking to broaden your take out rotation. read more

My buddy and I ordered some pretty basic food items that at the 1 hour mark we asked if they could cancel our order. We ordered a quesadilla and a buffalo chicken wrap. At the 45 minute wait time I asked about it and was told it would be out soon and 15 minutes later I saw the cook grabbing things from the fridge to make our order. Maybe I'm being irrational but I don't think our order should have taken an hour to even start being prepared. When I canceled the order one of the owners was at the bar and didn't even apologize but brought out our fries and gave them to another set of locals at the bar... really c'mon man learn to deal with customer and resolve issues.
