I also received my results swiftly, and the doctor who called me was informative. This staff deserves five stars. However, given what a nightmare it was to get an appointment, I'm dropping my review to four stars in hopes that this issue will be investigated by the powers that be. It's clear from reading other reviews that this facility has problems with the scheduling staff behaving unprofessionally. ORIGINAL REVIEW: In all my life, I have never encountered such incompetence at a medical facility as I have at Dakota Radiology. I cannot speak to their actual physician practices because I'm still waiting for a mammogram appointment that they seem incapable of making come to fruition. I have a lump in my breast, and I received a referral from my GP to have a specific type of breast imaging done at Dakota Radiology. All I needed was for Dakota Radiology to book me an appointment. Seems simple, right, and like a basic task anyone with a modicum of professionalism might be able to perform? One would think so, yet they keep losing my records and giving me the runaround. It's been weeks since I received the referral from my GP, yet I still have no appointment with Dakota Radiology. On the multiple times I called to follow up with them, their blanket answer to everything was, "We're waiting on a message from . . . (insert random department or doctor that has no relevance to my case)." That's Dakota Radiology code for "We have no idea how to handle your atypical medical situation so we're just going to keep giving you the runaround in hopes that you go somewhere else." The icing on the cake was when the seemingly capable scheduler I'd finally gotten through to WENT ON MATERNITY LEAVE AND DIDN'T FORWARD MY INFORMATION TO ANYONE ELSE. She, in fact, didn't even tell me she was planning on leaving so that I could coordinate my treatment with another scheduler. Instead, she had me go through the rigmarole of forwarding her all my paperwork and then left me waiting for a callback that has yet to happen. You have to ask yourself: If this is how horribly they screw things up on a very basic records and scheduling level, how might they handle your medical care?

A mammogram should have some discomfort. If it doesn't, the technician isn't getting a clear picture. Also, you can't be asked to hold your breath and in that spit second (possibly on an exhale) you're told to hold your breath. Due to the amount of breast cancer I have in my family I would normally be afraid of getting called back in for a retake; yet, I wasn't surprised after knowing what should occur during a mammogram. Sadly, weeks later, I get a $500+ bill for the retake. The insurance company says it's the way Dakota Radiology coded the bill. This is a retake for preventative care. At 54 years old I had seen numerous doctors about the pain I had in my hip and in my back . The other doctor said did the shots and even told me well I'm 54 years old I might just have to live with it . I had very painful sharp stab every time I put weight on my left leg it was horrible ! And I was only able to bend over possibly two to three times a day without being an excruciating pain . I honestly felt like my life was over . I was not able to do anything I enjoyed . I wasn't able to work so I was stuck in my house all day long . So somebody recommended Dr Ptacek to me and I thought well can't be any worse than it already is . The very first time I seen him he made me do a bending over do this do that which was painful . And he said well you have two problems one is your SI joint and your other is like L5 in your back . I thought well no s*** I could tell you where my pain is I'd live with it for a couple of years . But I looked up at him and asking can you fix me . Without hesitation he said yes ! No doctor had told me yes . So I thought well he's either an arrogant prick or he knows what he's doing . So I went back again and Dr talchak did an SI joint fusion with some pens . And I am 57 years old right now I walked over 5 Mi everyday at work . 5 miles! I couldn't get up out of my chair and walk to the bathroom without being in tears because the pain hurts so bad . My back hurts if I overdo it too much but that's my own fault I am 57 years old . Before he fixed my back I wasn't even able to get pots and pans out of my lower cabinets . I couldn't put any vegetables in my crisper drawer drawers in the bottom of my refrigerator because I couldn't bend over to open them . I couldn't empty my dishwasher because I couldn't bend over to get the plates out ! I felt like a total failure as a wife and human being . Doctor not only relieved the pain but this man literally gave me my life back . So if he says he can fix you he can . He's smart he's funny . But the man knows his s*** ! And he has the best staff ever! If you're in pain make an appointment ! Get your life back like I did !
