Having known Alan Surh for 23 years. I was well aware of his passion for health and integrity in everything he does. He has always been one of the most stand up people I have ever met or ran across. He is truly a good person, and always has been. As soon as I learned he opened a TCM and acupuncture clinic, I knew this was going to be good! However, I became ill a few hours before my first scheduled session at Thrive Acupuncture. I was reluctant to go in. I did not want to get Alan sick. To my surprise he responded with, "that's all the more reason to see me". I showed up with a sinus infection, could hardly breathe and a fever too boot. I also had bloating and fatigue. I was a real mess. Did not want to leave the house type of mess. Upon arrival Alan had me drink some ginger tea . He then asked me some questions and I was quite impressed with how thorough he was. I never had this great of an experience with traditional doctors. Alan took the time to listen to my needs and addressed the issues I needed the most. I felt like I was in the best hands I could possibly be in. We continued to the treatment first acupuncture then cupping. After an hour not only could I breath again but actually better than before I got sick. My sinuses drained, and I no longer felt fatigued. Not only did I feel better but there as visible difference as well. Finally He instructed me to get a good rest. During the night as a slept I was awakened by a strange gurgling in my stomach. I knew this was good I could feel by body systems working properly. When I finally awoke for the day. I felt fantastic. My bloating was gone and I felt like myself again. .Several days later I still feel wonderful. I'm able to run longer and breath better. My vitality has been restored. I feel like this was a step I needed to take for my own optimum health results. Alan did not rush anything he was calm and loving. I did not feel like a number or another face. The benefit was greater than I imagined. I found myself wondering how I survived this long without TCM in my daily life. Now that I have started at Thrive I will continue. I decided to try acupuncture after an allergic reaction to an antibiotic prescribed by my dentist. This reaction triggered an immune disorder which made me hypersensitive to almost everything and resulted in swelling, hives and even difficulty swallowing and breathing. Over a six month period my doctors tried all the standard medical treatments-- various types of steroids, antihistamines, etc.--with minimal success. After researching treatments for chronic uticaria, I decided to try acupuncture. I selected Alan and Thrive Acupuncture and have been thrilled with my progress. I've been treated several times by Alan of Thrive for shoulder pain and stress. At one of my treatments I went in there with pain so bad it was impacting my sleep. When I left the office my shoulder felt totally normal. He did some acupuncture, massage, and cupping which I'd never experienced before. It felt amazing.
