My favorite Magic shop in Santa Cruz! (Well, they are in Soquel Village) Not too witchy, but definitely witchy enough. Not too pagan, but definitely pagan. They have an amazing selection of goods from cultures around the world! Boomerangs! African sculptures, Asian goddesses, lots of Celtic stuff, drums, flags. It's a perfect place for a gift shop, books, local clothing vendors and unique items. It also is a spiritual shop, so they carry lots of tarot and oracle decks, have astrology and psychic readings, and do fairs the 2nd Sunday of the month. A good place for herbs, crystals, jewelry & candles. A super fun stop whether you're just visiting or local to Santa Cruz. Not to be missed! read more

Pay no attention to the troll behind the curtain! Avalon Visions has a plethora of crystals and tarot decks. There are tarot readers there daily to even help you pick out a deck or answer any questions. I personally make some of the candles sold so I know they exist! lol There is a great selection of books and magickal supplies, crystals, incenses, clothing and more from all over the globe. If Gwen does not have what you seek, she will do everything in her power to hunt it down for you. There is always a class or gathering going on and a wonderful community established. I recently purchased a lovely blue topaz ring in Avalon Visions. The saleswoman was very friendly and helpful in helping me pick out a ring that fit. After 2 hours of wearing the ring, I decided it was not quite what I wanted. I returned the next day and the same lovely lady helped me pick out a ring that was very suitable for my style and finger size. She was very friendly, helpful and supportive in my choice of ring. I love this little gem of a store in Capitola Village. Beautiful jewelry, clothes, cards and fun little spiritual gifts. I come from Sedona, AZ and understand about the energy and customer service of stores - and Avalon Visions is top notch in my books in both these areas. The two stars are for "staying in business," when others have failed. This store has some interesting things, but the Feng Shui is not great. Too much floor space is given to greeting cards in huge displays. They have nice jewelry, but need to invest in new glass cases - they are seriously scratched and the effect is to cheapen the jewelry. Careful attention should go to the musical selection to go towards creating a welcoming atmosphere. The entire store needs to be cleaned out and the inventory re-arranged. Future buys should focus on unique metaphysical selections . . . each item should be chosen for spiritual impact . . . I hope it stays in business, but it needs a serious revamping. A sense of whimsy and beauty would go a long way. Edit: August 7, 2017 - This business did expand and improve over the years in Capitola, and has now moved to Soquel. I am cheering for them. I have noted some Feng Shui improvements that might help and hope they sparkle it up to enhance the energy. I have lots of specific ideas, so we'll see what happens. Wishing them well. read more

This store isn't about doing something or even having services given to you. Its about self discovery. I found myself wondering into here one afternoon, and now its become one of my favorite places to be. Every time I come I find a new special ring that intrigues me, or a book that I can't put down. There's a sense of wonder and peace immediately when you come in the door. What is this place? And what are they selling here? But you won't find pesky sales people, or judgmental idealists of any kind. Its more about having a curious mind. And if your open to the different possibilities that the Universe has to offer, than you might find something special while your browsing. The kind people behind the cash register are open to assist but they won't bother you as you browse the store. I found some aromatherapy sprays that I regularly use in my house that immediately help give me calm peaceful thoughts. The books I found have helped me to become more in tune with myself, and the rings I wear all have special meaning whenever i look at them. This is my favorite store in the Capitola/Soquel area. It is filled with magical treasures that support health, happiness and well being. The new location is far better as the reading and healing rooms are private! This new space is dedicated to spiritual creativity and hosts classes workshops and events on a large array of fascinating topics. Looks like a desperate goodwill attempt for a cute boutique, but didn't hit that mark. Honestly not even sure what services they offer. Employees were rude and extremely unknowledgeable, didn't know up from down. What a joke. Doubt this place will be here long. I have been going to this store since I was a small child, and thrilled that it is still in business. I agree with the previous reviewer that the floor plan and inventory needs a revamp, but that is the only flaw with this place. The owner and staff are friendly and welcoming. They have a wide selection of stones and pendants, a perfect one-stop shop for crystals if you are in need. There is a sense of whimsy with the windcatchers, prisms, and greeting cards; making the metaphysical more accessible and friendly than some stores I have explored. I hope Avalon Visions sticks around, in my mind it is a staple of the Capitola scene. read more

Before I came to Avalon I visited Serpent Kisses first due to proximity to home and found Avalon Vision to have a much lighter and positive vibe plus great and friendly customer service. My friend mentioned to me that while we were at Serpent Kisses she felt an unexplained anxiety, but didn't want to say anything and also noted the different vibe at Avalon. I had questions about the aura photography and the store associate was nice and informative. She answered questions kindly and was willing to be of assistance. I didn't do the aura photo this time, but will next time. Today's visit was specifically to buy angel taro cards and I appreciate that there were sample decks to view before purchase. Had there not been sample decks available for viewing, I wouldn't have discovered additional decks that I also really liked and purchased. Will definitely return. read more

Anytime I go to Capitola, I stop by here. When you walk in it is all good vibes. The staff are always welcoming and love to help with anything. The last time I had visited, they expanded their store and added more room for readings. The ladies there know what they're doing. Avalon Visions is my go-to store for everything metaphysical and as a bonus, they have great gifts too. I can find incense, jewelry, books, tarot cards, candles, feathers, clothes and even greeting cards. I have had my aura read and it gave me some interesting insight into myself and was very helpful. I personally haven't had my cards read, but I've heard from other people that the Readers are very talented and give great insight too. I have often found "just the right thing" for gifts and I love their selection of jewelry items. The store is an enjoyable place to be; instead of having that "just moved in feeling", the new store is already filled with positive energy and harmony and is as uplifting and energizing as the old store was. That energy, I'm sure, is because Gwen and her staff have provided a grounding influence. That's what's most special about Avalon Visions-the people. This store is Gwen's life work and she puts her heart and soul into every aspect and it shows. She makes sure that the people who are involved with the store and now the "Center for Creative Spirituality" share her vision and want to be influencers in the local spiritual community.
