I reached back out to Joe for another tree removal in early August of 2025. I had a retaining wall I was going to be having removed and sloped but in order to do so, I had to remove trees which sat in the middle of it on the top. Joe was very prompt in responding to my inquiry and got me on his schedule as quickly as he could. We agreed to process the request the third or fourth week of August. He gave me an excellent quote! As always, Joe did well to come out and examine the trees himself and described his plan on how he wanted to fell the trees. He ended up having some other things come up but still managed to keep us in the same time frame as agreed upon. He felled a cluster of about 5-6 trees grouped together. These tree were close to the road and had one direction they could fall in a space between my house and my pool deck. He felled this group of trees in less than three hours (far quicker than I expected) and he did so on a windy day! We agreed to do the clean up and removal of the trees ourselves, but he still helped cut up some of the trunks before he left. Joe also re-checked some trees he had previous concerns about and explained the signs I should watch for so they don't become a further issue. I will always call Joe first for any of my tree needs. He is professional, responsive, willing to educate you, and reliable. I highly recommend him for anyone else with tree needs that are within the area he covers here in Vermont. We had a frightful amount of tree removal, trimming and cutting back trees in our half acre home in Shelburne, VT. Our back yard was disappearing due to abundant growth of some massive trees. Dark and buggy and unable to have a garden grow! Joe Candido, owner of Avalon came out and looked at our project and thought through a plan to approach our issues. He took movies of the area and discussed every aspect of what needed to be accomplished. I received his very reasonable estimate in a comprehensive,line listed, PDF. Every detail was spot on and accurate. No surprises. Even on the hottest days, there he was, well into the trees with incredible energy and expertise. Once the cutting was complete (looked like world war III), I was shocked to watch the chipping and cleanup take only ONE DAY, with the result looking like it had never happened at all! Except, of course, my backyard was back from the grave!! Everything was spotlessly raked, cleaned, with the chips and log rounds all neatly stacked in the correct, designated places. No damage to lawn or surrounding trees occurred. To say this was a good experience would be a giant understatement. It was magical to watch the process and to deal with a professional, true gentleman. Joe is excellent at his craft and a phenomenally hard worker. I recently had the pleasure of hiring Joe Candido of Avalon Tree Service to remove a 100 + foot tree on my property. It had needed to come down for quite some time and a recent wind burst had caused a large branch to come crashing down in my yard in the middle of the night. I received multiple quotes and they came in a wide variety of pricing and the methods that would be used to take down the tree. One thing that struck me about Joe was that he called me right back after I left him a voicemail and set a time to come look at the tree. Upon arrival he looked at the tree and took videos and pictures of it and said he would be back in touch soon to review the method he would use to take it down and what my cost would be. A few days later Joe called me back and we set a time to meet. Joe was very detailed on how he would tackle the job, when he could do it and how much it would cost. I was so impressed on how detailed he was and that his method (climbing the tree and cutting it down) would have the least amount of damage to my property. All the other companies I spoke with said they needed to get a bucket truck or a crane to do the job and that I should plan on having some serious damage to my lawn and the stone wall surrounding it. I decided to go with Avalon and I was not disappointed. Joe came early on a Saturday morning with his impressive array of chainsaws (small, medium and gigantic) and climbing tools. It took the entire day and piece by piece the tree came down until it was just a stump. I am very happy with the job that was done and the fact that everything was cleaned up and there was no damage to my lawn or my wall. I found Joe very knowledgeable and friendly and most of all responsive to my questions and concerns.
