I don't want to be mean! The staff were great had a little hiccup with the credit card and a few phone calls but all was solved! Nicely greeted! Property is clean and well kept. We visited mid week so it was very quiet which was fine. Our second time adventuring to a place that was clothing optional. Now the pool was great! Super clean. Mandatory no clothes in the pool. The cameras were bit bothersome. I was completely unaware but I'll own that I'm oblivious in new environments so if someone spoke of them I don't recall but anyways we enjoyed the pool! Later on having some fun in the room and I'm laying on the bed which is right next to the door I mean right next to it! In all my glory on the bed I can hear people like whispering. Laughing. No big deal. Well when my door flung open and I have 3 people staring at me I was mortified. The whispering was them discussing the code which they had the code I had been given not sure if it was a universal one or not. The key pass were being issues so they only did codes no key! Anyways two woman and a man came walking in. They left very very quickly! We barricaded the door so we could sleep and high tailed it out in the morning. Aside from that mishap which is pretty unnerving to me. More precautions and safe measures should be in place! So that's why I went with the 3 stars! We have been to Avalon many times and it is a great place to really relax and enjoy yourself. The Avalonfest Music Festival is our favorite but any day you have the chance to be there is wonderful. The people are incredibly friendly and you feel like a regular the first time you come. The facilities are very well kept and the people there are always creating fun activities and things to do. There are also a variety of lodging options to fit any preference or budget level. It would be nice if there was more as far as dining options since you are so far from any place to find food. We attended last before the "Bare Barn" reopened so perhaps this has improved, but the last time we were there it was just the poolside concession. read more

We recently visited Avalon very nice people however we were somewhat disappointed first with the rv site which was pretty rough. Very uneven rocky we could not level our rv correctly and when it rained it was so muddy everything got dirty Second we were expecting a lot more people spending time in the pool on Saturday afternoon enjoying conversation and having cocktails and listening to music It's not like that here Very few people. They only open at the grill which also serves alcohol for an hour and a half and then the big bar doesn't open till 9 pm long gap. We enjoy socializing by the pool in the summers and making an afternoon of it. There is a great view of the mtn by the pool But the few who were there leave pretty quickly read more

Absolutely great relaxing time. Especially if you like to be at a clothing optional resort. We thought we would never decide to be nude in public and let me say, once you do it's quite liberating and makes the stay so much easier, and relaxing. Wife and I packed lots of very unnecessary clothing items. The hotel is no longer there due to fire a few years back. They now have small individual cabins with beds, running water, bathrooms, microwave, AC, and small porch with chairs. This is such an improvement over the hotel they had. Also the Barn has been remodeled into a dining area, and night life entertainment area. Tent camping is wonderful, the people and staff are so nice, you can enjoy the fresh WV air and you get to be Nude if you so desire. Remember nudity is totally optional. Another thing to remember is its a "Nudest" resort, so "No Overly Public Displays of Affection". One of the first rules we were told was "Please always carry a towel to sit on anywhere in the resort." Next rule was go have fun and relax. Resort grounds are always clean and picked up/tidy. Cathy replied " actions and behavior and so on most likely that is delusional , ignorance decision to banned me or anyone else karma has you that is all I am putting out never suffer in silence let the world know what's going on even if it's your own experience in life. read more

We've been to Avalon Resort 3 times and really enjoyed every stay. Once in their lodging, which was nice and twice in our RV.

Avalon is a mixture of good folks and troublemakers who rent their fulltime. The upper middle to right hand section of the campground is like a rattlesnake pit, you never know which one of them is going to report a bogus complaint against you at the main office to try to make you appear to be doing something wrong. There opinionated, malicious, slanderous, defamitory complaints take place behind your back and possibly violate the law - see 28 U.S. code section 4101(1). This opens the door for a possible lawsuit. If you are a quite friendly single guy exploring the place, not bothering anybody, you might be seen as being suspicious or intruding. If you're there a very short time no problem. If you are there for a longer stay you might be targeted by these troublemakers especially if you're not part of their click. If you are a drug user or sexually confused you will probably not be bothered here. the aquatic center, Office and who knows what else is under surveillance at all times. The so called fitness center is a joke. The few pieces of equipment is old and worn out and mostly doesn't work. This review is based on my experience. read more

Avalon was a beautiful resort to visit for my wife and my second nudist resort visit. The pool and lounge deck was large with plenty of loungers. The trails were nicely taken care of and my wife and I enjoyed several long hikes. The new cabins being built were beautiful. Can wait to visit again and spend several nights. read more

I have been to other nudist resorts but I always come home to Avalon, I don't think I will ever leave, wonderful people, beautiful views, delightful camp ground. This is the fourth time I have visited Avalon and will be THE LAST. Each time we have visited we were let down but hoped it was a fluke . I visited for a special event happening there that weekend. Aside from that event I would not have wasted my time. I believe that Avalon has so much potential, but it seems like nothing improves there much. Compared to other similar resorts I've visited, Avalon is way behind the times on so many things and certainly not organized. Its located far from lively towns with restaurants/grocery etc, ( which can be exactly what some folks need) BUT be sure to take your own foods/snacks/drinks along , otherwise you can expect to overpay for mediocre food at best. Think like $15 +- per paper plate of food per person. And 1-2 items on their menu. I have stayed in their rooms once, immediately noticed there were stains on the floor, the bathrooms were outdated, walls and doors were thin. After that we opted to take our own camper and avoid their rooms all together. Once was in the campgrounds up the hill behind the pool area, quite a hike back and forth to the sites and the heart of the resort. Many permanent people have golf carts because of how far things are from one another. The second was at their "Meadow" for large RVs... what a joke! The site was uneven, wooden landscape ties were out of the ground absolute tripping hazards, totally out in the middle of a field and also a hike - literally thru a wooded gully to the heart of the happenings there. We went for a few festivals/events they held and you could tell by the attendance and lack of vendors from prior years that other people are getting the same vibe and just not going there anymore. Their Nudsino is a tiny hallway style room ( maybe a after thought on someones end) with a few coin machines , jukebox, pool table and couple of tables with a bar. Speaking of which the blonde bartender IS a true GEM, definitely a wonderful lady ( there is a positive!!). There was rumor the resort was for sale, I don't know if the management has lost their joy working there or what, but a majority of the staff I have encountered all have a lot to be desired. Its all about the money, not so much customer relations/kindness it seems. Its a shame that such a beautiful location with so much potential is managed so poorly. I wasn't planning on reviewing Avalon on here, however after my latest visit, I feel the need to share my experience and observations over the past few year/visits. PLEASE Save your money , there is so many other wonderful, clean, up to date, FUN nudist resorts that really want you to have a great time. read more

Hello. This is my first time writing a review. My husband and I have visited Avalon about 4 times a year, for 8 years. We WONT be back! Poorly managed, run down is putting it politely. Rooms have beds that are thin and incredibly uncomfortable. No TV, no internet. And PAPER thin walls. Only ONE partially working hot tub. The 'heated' pool, is never heated. Apparently they had been running low on the firewood they use to heat it.... All this and outrageous prices! Not to mention the AWFUL "food' they try to serve the guests! Over NYE we were there. Dinner menu was 'beef pot roast"... what was served was what looked like 'sloppy joes" and some other nasty looking stuff in crock pots. Not to mention there are ZERO other options in the area! This place is very clique central. I have always enjoyed meeting other new people, but the staff, ESPECIALLY the female (big girl) part owner, is RUDE, rusty, and has no idea what being a people person is! She is a bully to other staff there, and completely unfriendly to any guest that can not be intimidated or doesn't fit her 'design' of a paying guest! AGAIN...WE WILL NOT be back until some major changes happen. This place COULD be something nice, exceptional even, but as for now... its a waste of money and time! read more
