I love coming here to browse and buy anything that catches my attention. They have a beautiful selection of stones and a brief description of the metaphysical properties for the stones. Everything here is reasonably priced. I love coming in during a fair they have in their parking lot. I love talking to the staff about their take on each item I pick out. I always meet interesting people here and leave with a new list of knowledge. They have candles, incense and dried herbs in the back. I come here with my roommate a lot! I'm gonna be 200% honest and transparent with you - I have no idea what 99% of the stuff in this store is for. However, I am giving them a 5 star rating because the people who work here are so wholesome, kind, gentle, and non-judgmental. They make you feel welcomed and they love to educate their customers on their products. They aren't pushy - you never feel obligated to buy. It's cozy in here, and at times you can be elbow-to-elbow, but the guests aren't rude and everyone interacts so peacefully. Absolutely love this store! It will meet all of your expectations as far as I am concerned. When I found out about this lovely gem, my intention was to pick out some crystals to work with and learn more about healing. Every time I go in, I feel like a kid in a candy store. Avalon has inspired me to broaden my horizons because I literally want to try something from each section! They have beautiful stones, crystals, books, Tarot cards, incense, journals, scarves, jewelry, candles, incense, I can go on and on. Everyone who I have encountered working there have been very friendly and helpful. They also have a medium give readings from time to time which is awesome. Avalon is great. I'll start there. They literally have anything you could possibly need. It's not the ONLY metaphysical store in Orlando, but quite frankly, I like to keep my hidden gems, hidden. Avalon has been around since the early 90s, however, it originally started as Dragonwood. After Dragonwood the place was renamed to Herne's Hollow, when the owner changed. This happened in the late 90s. A year or two later, the place had another new owner, and since then it has been called Avalon. Avalon carries books, incense, candles, sage & smudging, oils, jewelry, herbs, tarot, healing crystals and much more. Miranda is great! She's very nice, always willing to help, and has a lot of useful information. Unfortunately, I will no longer be fulfilling my metaphysical needs with Avalon. As of late, the store has gotten a very high amount of traffic and I cannot even begin to express how excited I am for them as a business. It's very hard for me to focus and find what I need, however, with so many people over my shoulder in such a small space. I absolutely adore Avalon and I would recommend it to anyone in the Orlando area, however, I would suggest arriving earlier in the day, as the crowd isn't as heavy yet. Also, the parking lot is very small and cramped, and parking can be hard to find at times. I believe you can park on the street, but I'm not sure, so don't hold me to that! read more

The smell of Nag Champa as you walk in... the pretty bobbles and gorgeous sparkly things everywhere... Avalon is not just a new age bookstore but also a place to peruse every nook and cranny of the store looking for beautiful works of pagan/wiccan art and the fine selection of jewelry I've only been able to find here. They hold readings here as well as some smallish workshops and book signings. I've been hard pressed to find a store anywhere in town that carries the vast stock of items they do. Avalon offers a nice selection of herbal and alternative products, tucked away on Hillcrest just off the intersection of Colonial and Mills. (You can see the Colonial Photo store from their back parking lot) I arrived to a crowded shop with people perusing and several kids looking through the various stones and rocks. My first trip in was for a Soap Making class/demo, which was informative. The only way the class could have been better was being in a cooler room and leaving with a bar of the type of soap that was made that day. If you're looking for anything metaphysical, new age, herbs, stones, books, etc., this is definitely the place for you. The employees are wonderful and definitely make a trip to Avalon extremely enjoyable. The moment you walk in, you are overcome with the relaxing smell of incense. The whole place exudes happiness and it's an instant uplifting feeling. I'm here at least one or twice a week with my boyfriend, they update their inventory regularly. As of late they have almost tripled their inventory due to demand so they have even more great things to buy. The selection of books is really great as they have something for everyone. Also, you don't have to be Wiccan to enjoy this store. They make sure to have something for every type of religion and person. My favorite new age store in the general vicinity of Orlando. read more

Such a great place for herbs, stones and all things metaphysical. I've been coming to Avalon for a few years now. I come from a long line of Shamans and find it hard to find a place that reminds me of the temples back in India. When I walk into Avalon, I literally feel like every burden has been lifted. Found this shop on yelp! This store has a lot to offer! tons of crystals and so much more. There were so many people at the store at one time it was really hard to get a personal experience. I for one needed some help on picking out crystals and wanted to know a little bit more about them and which ones are right for me, I was able to talk to someone but not enough to feel satisfied. I do wish the rocks came with a little card or something with the description and name. When I got home I could not remember The names of my crystals and could not find them in the two books I bought. so this shop is great for someone who is an expert and doesn't need any guidance or help but if you're a newbie like me I would suggest going when it is not busy. read more

I actually stumbled upon this place one day while visiting Austins Coffee (a local coffee shop around the corner from there). Anyways. I have been back once a month ever since! The staff at Avalon really knows their stuff. Best place in Orlando to grab oracle cards from! I also get my candle things there. Great spray selection! Pretty much if you wanna get into the metaphysical/psychic side of things you can get it all there! Also they have a large selection of books! Around the corner there is a vegetarian Vietnamese place that serves the best springrolls ask them about it, they will know what it means. Good food around the corner! Its in little asia so theres lots to do around! They have a fairly large herb selection as well, and crystal shop! Love their rings. Boyfriend got me a ring there actually! My boyfriend is always treated with kindness, as well as i am. Its an amazing place to visit when you are having a bad day. My daughter and I just went to this store yesterday and we both felt very unwelcome by a woman who was working today with very short hair, wearing a royal blue dress, and with a terrible demeanor. My daughter and I asked about the Evil eye bracelets and if they were available in black and she walked by us and stated what is there is what's there. My daughter approached her asking for the meaning on a different bracelet with beautiful black crystals and she stated "they pretty much work the same way." I told my daughter to pick out the bracelet she liked and she asked if she could pick one out for her brother and as I'm walking to the front to purchase them she walked by me a third time with the most uncomfortable stare that I told my daughter, that I didn't like the way she made me feel. She was miserable and made the decision to bring that to work. How unfortunate. I have been coming here for years now and I have NEVER left without purchasing at least 6-8 items. I called the store and spoke to a gentleman who was very apologetic about it but all we wanted was to know when she would NOT BE THERE so that we can come in and purchase items without feeling uncomfortable. This woman has negative energy and shouldn't be allowed to project her negativity through a place that is supposed to provide peace and tranquility. Will not be returning as long as she is there. I absolutely love this place. The ambiance is just magical. All the workers are knowledgeable and friendly. They have everything you need related to metaphysical, healing, spiritual and Wicca. They usually have someone available to do readings (cash only). They offer classes (I recommend Suzan's psychic development or tarot classes). Their crystal collection is extensive, one of the larger and diverse ones I've seen in all of Florida. I love how they will dress a candle for you if you ask. Came here last week with my boyfriend who is deaf/hard of hearing and reads lips in order to communicate with others. I wore a mask in the facility and always respect policy and rules. I put my mask down to say one sentence to my boyfriend who was not understanding me and was immediately approached by an employee. This employee was very unprofessional with how she approached me stating "your mask needs to be over your nose" I said "My boyfriend is deaf and reads lips so i was just trying to communicate with him" she responded with "well this is our policy and if there's still a problem i can go get my manager". It's hard enough already for this mask mandate for individuals dealing with hearing issues and on top of that have to be approached by rude employees. If she approached me in a more understanding and caring way I wouldn't be even writing this review. Please be kind to individuals with hearing/sight/or speaking impairments during this pandemic and approach others with kindness. After this I immediately left the store and went to another crystal shop. I was also visiting from Miami and was really excited about coming to this shop. Such a disappointment. read more
