My transition to wearing Hearing Aids has been made so smooth by Betty and her Staff! When I was faced with buying Hearing Aids for the first time, I did not realize that one does not just buy them and walk out. Betty takes you through the entire process. Selection, fitting, learning to use them successfully, and long-term evaluation to ensure a perfect experience. Avalon is my Hearing Care Provider. Always. read more

Betty and Angel are the best Hearing Aid Experience that I have had. Thank you very much. read more

Was not happy. I got very expensive bluetooth aids, at $7,500, that had terribly tinny sound from the phone, and really didn't help much in group conversations. She only offered the one price, which I later found online for $3,000, including service. But the aids had no midtone, and did not block outside noise, so were massively disappointing for the huge price. I now use Apple earpods, and get full spectrum sound and great hearing, for $200, and compleely block loud and sharp noises. You do the hearing test yourself. But you have to charge every few hours in the case. Worth the inconvenience. read more

I have been very happy with the services at the Avalon Hearing Aid Center. Their customer and office staff have been kind and helpful. Betty is a knowledgeable and generous owner. My hearing aids work well with my bluetooth and phone. I am able to adjust them, although I don't need to adjust them much since they are set up well in the office. I appreciate the 4 month free check ups that they provide. Many other businesses do not offer this service. read more

I've been to 2 other local hearing aid services & one in the Bay Area. The one in the Bay Area gave excellent service, but their product just wasn't for me (over $11k & didn't work any better than what I have). Here at Avalon, I've received fantastic service as well as thoughtful, patient guidance on updated aids! Re the other local places, one kept pushing for "the next greatest model", while the other quickly gave me an aid covered by my insurance, with minimal effort! I have a friend who is an acoustics expert, who advised me that the "secret" with getting the "right" hearing aids is all in the service, the fitting & the follow-up! Avalon has been the BEST BY FAR!!! read more

The apparent absolute disrespect that your company has for the intelligence of a potential customer is outstanding and perhsps is a reflection of your company's ethics and business practices. I NEVER said any expletive (swear word) to your customer representative ... how insulting! I merely stated that I would take my business elsewhere, which I did. Fortunately there are many other reputable hearing aid providers in the Sacramento area that are wiling to provide bundled and unbundled cost information WITHOUT having to meet in person. (And yes, cost is one factor in deciding where you should take your business to.) I strongly suggest that any potential.hearing aid customer explore the MANY other alternatives before considering doing business with Avalon Hearing Aid Centers. read more

When my husband went to Betty at Avalon, he was on his 3rd round of hearing aides - the most recent of which cost over $6k. Betty tested him and said he was hearing only 18% with them, and she felt she could get him to 80% with her suggested hearing aides. That is exactly what happened! His hearing went from 18% - 80% and the look on his face as he heard new sounds was priceless. He had no idea how much better his hearing could be. He now hangs out with his friends more, and participates in life in a much more involved way. Betty is unbelievable with her talent and the technology she uses to fine tune the hearing aides. 100% happy!!! read more

What an amazing place! Took my grandma yo get hearing test. Had to bring my 5y/o with me yo this appointment.. they gave him a toy yo play with and even let him sit and experience the soundproof room. Took great care of my grandma, patient, super friendly, didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need, really looked out for my grandmas best interest. Everyone there is very friendly. read more

What a great experience! Professional courteous and knowledgeable staff. Answered all of our questions and really took the time to make sure both my mother and I understood all the different aspects of my aging mothers hearing loss. There was no pressure to buy anything, just a thorough hearing exam and consultation. We were presented with purchase options and the prices were very reasonable. We explained we wanted a couple days to research the options we had been presented with and after doing some research I confirmed that Avalon had recommended the best product for my mothers needs. Avalon also offers free replacement if you loose or damage your hearing aid in the first 3 years. Plus they are available to assist with any questions, fittings, adjustments or needs that may arise with your hearing aid. From what I can see they are there for you during and after the purchase process. Hearing aids are a very expensive investment and I feel Avalon is a trusted source for hearing aid consolations and purchase. read more

Betty and the folks at Avalon feel like family. All follow up care is free and they want to see you several times a year to make sure your hearing aids are tuned up to get you the best uderstandability for your particular hearing loss. I bought a TV device which pairs with my I phone's blue tooth. Betty set it all up and it has made the world of difference when family is over so I do not have to have the sound up too loud for everyone else. Betty also gives classes for families so they understand how to help us hear better. Her walk and talk rule is key. If you want me to understand you, come where I am and look at me. I highly recommend Avalon and Betty Voster-Kemp. read more

I am so grateful that I called my hearing aid manufacturer and they told me about Avalon Hearing Aid Center. My original hearing aid provider was far from ideal, and I had been trying to find another to repair my device. So I called and spoke to Angel, who is completely wonderful. She helped me with advice and understanding, and made an appointment for me very soon after we spoke, Next, Alan fixed my hearing aid for a moderate charge, which was a huge relief after I had contacted several other places who didn't have the part. But, shortly after that, I lost my hearing aid! (It was partly covered by my homeowners' insurance, believe it or not.) Luckily, I now knew who to call. I can't say enough good things about Alan. He has given me SO much great advice. I love the hearing aid I bought with his help. He always teaches me something new whenever I go in to get a cleaning. And I've been adopted by Avalon, so I know I can always get help. That's a part of your hearing aid purchase! And they even had a loaner for me to use when my hearing aid needed a factory repair. They are super professional, very kind, and simply lovely people. Sometimes things just work out perfectly. read more

Betty and the staff at Avalon are "tech-whisperers." They know how to make the fabulous technology available in top-of-the-line hearing devices perform so that my hearing is optimized in a way I don't have to worry about. My wife and I are fitted with our second pair of hearing instruments in the last ten years, and just got our programs upgraded. Wish we had someone like this to do our computers and home videos perform as seamlessly! They keep us hearing our best despite age and physical condition. We've referred all our friends to Betty and the Avalon team, and have yet to hear nothing but thanks for our efforts. Thank you Avalon, Patrick and Elizabeth Bell (76 and 84) read more

I have been a loyal client at Avalon's Fulton location for about 10 years. Just today, Betty Vosters-Kemp fitted me with a remote microphone which would allow me to stream audio from my laptop or other audio systems directly to my hearing aids. Betty looks for solutions! And it's not always about selling their products. After 50 years of seeing audiologists in Asia, England and the U.S., I can say that Avalon has been the best by far in terms of technology, service, and client care. Michael Kemp and his wife, Betty, are always up front and honest about what hearing aids will work for me. Betty balances being professional and compassionate. I have met audiologists who only want to sell hearing aids. At Avalon, they go a mile to enable their clients to hear to the best of their ability and resources. I pray that the Lord will continue to bless Avalon as they have allowed me to live as normally as possible even with my near-deafness. read more

I am so happy we chose Avalon for my mom's hearing aids!! From the first phone call, through testing, selection, fittings and follow-up visits, the entire team at Avalon has been the epitome of excellence in customer service. I would absolutely recommend Avalon to everyone because I completely trust their expertise, attention to detail and chairside manner. My mom had difficulty hearing for several years, likely due to sitting next to loud orchestra horns while playing the violin. It became difficult to have a conversation with her and it was increasingly hard for her to hear what her kids and grand kids were saying. She said we sounded like we were mumbling, even when we spoke clearly, which was frustrating for all of us. And she would have to turn the TV volume up to a very high level. Overall, we wanted to have better conversations with her. So, we went in search of a place that would help us determine the best solution, not just sell us hearing aids. After doing online research, I signed up for Avalon's breakfast seminar to get more info, then I attended with my mom. So glad we did. Betty and staff, gave us tons of useful information at the seminar and answered all of our questions in a very pleasant and low-pressure way. Then we met with Richard who conducted the hearing tests. Richard is amazingly wonderful!! He is so professional, knowledgeable, helpful and an all-around nice guy. He carefully explained all of the test results and gave us options that made sense for my mom's type of hearing loss and her budget. He answered follow-up questions very quickly - even via text outside of office hours which was awesome. And his customer service remained just as amazing after we completed the purchase as the very first day. During my mom's fitting after her hearing aids arrived, Richard took special care to program her settings in a way that worked for her in several different environments - including when she plays in the orchestra. She purchased the Halo 2 i1600 by Starkey and loves them. She can even change the settings from her iphone! Throughout the process, Richard kept both me and my mom informed about appointments and what to expect, which made it easier for our family to support her through the process. Now, my mom can hear so well, it is remarkable!! She loves being able to hear clearly. We have great conversations and we can all talk at a normal volume. She says she can hear the various instruments in her orchestra so much better now. Avalon was the best decision ever!! read more

Buying hearing aids can be a daunting challenge. Taking your mother to buy her hearing aids adds another level of stress to the equation. Happily we decided on Avalon Hearing Aid Center. When investing in a big ticket medical device like hearing aids, I have to be assured of a few things. First, quality of product. Is it the newest technology, is it reliable, is it easy to use, is the warranty iron clad? Second, the company I'm purchasing it from. Are they concerned about me as a customer, how is their follow through, is customer satisfaction important to them? A brand is only as strong as its customer's last interaction with it. If these are the same concerns you have... and if you're guiding your parent into this new world of hearing aids, you can rest assured that Avalon is a company you can put your faith in. We worked with Richard, our audiologist. Richard is the consummate professional. He took the time to assess my mother's needs and fitted her with hearing aids that were not intrusive, taking the time to carefully explain how they work and what she needed to know to get the most out of them. What I really appreciated was the follow up, making sure my mother's new hearing aids were properly adjusted. Richard even brought in Betty, the owner to get her opinion on the adjustments and to add her expertise. This was over two weeks, allowing my mother to get properly adjusted to hear new hearing abilities. From the friendly receptionist to the customer service follow up phone calls to the commitment to customer satisfaction, Avalon Hearing Aid Center is a place I feel comfortable bringing my mother in, knowing she will not be taken advantage of. The best part....now when we visit with my mother we don't have to be concerned with how loud we speak or what angle we are when we are speaking to her... she can tell when we ring the doorbell and I have piece of mind that in case of an emergency she has the ability to hear. Thank you Richard & Betty! read more

I didn't want to give into getting a hearing aid, but, I was missing what my grandchildren were saying, (even when I asked them to repeat their sentences). So, I looked up reviews of Avalon, and because they were so highly rated, I went to see them. Allan, is my technician, and I couldn't asked for a kinder, understanding person to help me through this transition . He told me, "Welcome to the family." And that is how they treat you. Everyone is caring and helpful and all my needs were met. Once you get to know, Angel, the receptionist , she makes you feel like you have been best friends forever. I also liked that about 99% of the time, Allan does not keep me waiting. My time is to valuable to wait in an office. I would HIGHLY recommend this company for all your hearing needs. read more

My grandmother came for hearing health a couple years and she had the best experience. Thank you to Betty for helping!

My husband was rendered legally deaf in infancy. Locally, he's worked with two hearing aid centers. When one went out of business, all patients were referred to Avalon. It is top notch! Specifically, Alan Mateer is my husband's all-time favorite on a local level. Globally, Bill Austin, owner & founder of Starkey Hearing Foundation, is a long-term friend & would be proud of the service that Alan provides! read more

My grandchildren had been telling me that I needed a hearing aid and their other Grandma agreed. She was happy with the one she got at Costco. So I went to Costco. When I walked around the store with the hearing aid on, I hated it because the background noise was so loud. The hearing aid dispenser did not think I would wear it, and he told me to come back in two years when my hearing would be worse and I would be more motivated to wear it. A year later, I went to Betty Vosters-Kemp at Avalon. My hearing loss was 72% of normal. I was getting tired of having to ask people to repeat themselves, especially physicians. Betty let me listen to hearing technology that helps boost speech through background noise. She showed me how she could help me to hear close to normal because I had come in early enough. Betty explains everything clearly and in plain English. She answers all your questions. She must be one of the best hearing care providers in the country. We are lucky to have her in Sacramento. Yes, this hearing technology was quite a bit more expensive than the one at Costco; but this is something I will wear everyday and it will make my daily life so much better. If you are fortunate enough to afford the best, I encourage you to get the best. read more

Today I went to get me hearing tested.... A lady named Betty. Did the test... Wow.... I seriously didn't realize it was so bad..... she explained everything. I had a test about 7months ago and the results were about the same but Betty explained way better why I'm not hearing all the words that people say to me. And I realized that I'm a mouth reader, I was never told that by the previous person.....she let me try on some aids and then played the words as I hear them them then with the aids programmed for what a need. Wow what a difference....I would recommend Avalon hearing aid center to anyone.from the receptionist to the audiologist every one was so nice.....I'll be going back for all my needs....... I instantly felt I was in good hands when I met Betty when I was in need of replacement hearing aids. And so I drove two hours to get to Avalon and didn't regret the extra effort for even a moment. I've had hearing loss for years and loved the hearing aids I got six years ago but it was time to replace them when my cat chewed one of them. And I'm so much happier with the new ones! The technology has vastly improved but also Betty's exam was so thorough. I learned things about my hearing I'd not known. And she was very thoughtful about which devices I should consider. Betty has a lovely, caring manner along with a high level of expertise. This is not a hard sell business but rather a satisfaction guaranteed process. read more
