I have been very happy with the services at the Avalon Hearing Aid Center. Their customer and office staff have been kind and helpful. Betty is a knowledgeable and generous owner. My hearing aids work well with my bluetooth and phone. I am able to adjust them, although I don't need to adjust them much since they are set up well in the office. Was not happy. I got very expensive bluetooth aids, at $7,500, that had terribly tinny sound from the phone, and really didn't help much in group conversations. She only offered the one price, which I later found online for $3,000, including service. But the aids had no midtone, and did not block outside noise, so were massively disappointing for the huge price. I now use Apple earpods, and get full spectrum sound and great hearing, for $200, and compleely block loud and sharp noises. You do the hearing test yourself. But you have to charge every few hours in the case. Worth the inconvenience. read more

I've been to 2 other local hearing aid services & one in the Bay Area. The one in the Bay Area gave excellent service, but their product just wasn't for me (over $11k & didn't work any better than what I have). Here at Avalon, I've received fantastic service as well as thoughtful, patient guidance on updated aids! Re the other local places, one kept pushing for "the next greatest model", while the other quickly gave me an aid covered by my insurance, with minimal effort! When my husband went to Betty at Avalon, he was on his 3rd round of hearing aides - the most recent of which cost over $6k. Betty tested him and said he was hearing only 18% with them, and she felt she could get him to 80% with her suggested hearing aides. That is exactly what happened! I bought a TV device which pairs with my I phone's blue tooth. I am so grateful that I called my hearing aid manufacturer and they told me about Avalon Hearing Aid Center. My original hearing aid provider was far from ideal, and I had been trying to find another to repair my device. So I called and spoke to Angel, who is completely wonderful. She helped me with advice and understanding, and made an appointment for me very soon after we spoke, Next, Alan fixed my hearing aid for a moderate charge, which was a huge relief after I had contacted several other places who didn't have the part. But, shortly after that, I lost my hearing aid! (It was partly covered by my homeowners' insurance, believe it or not.) Luckily, I now knew who to call. I can't say enough good things about Alan. He has given me SO much great advice. I love the hearing aid I bought with his help. He always teaches me something new whenever I go in to get a cleaning. What a great experience! Professional courteous and knowledgeable staff. Answered all of our questions and really took the time to make sure both my mother and I understood all the different aspects of my aging mothers hearing loss. There was no pressure to buy anything, just a thorough hearing exam and consultation. We were presented with purchase options and the prices were very reasonable. We explained we wanted a couple days to research the options we had been presented with and after doing some research I confirmed that Avalon had recommended the best product for my mothers needs. Avalon also offers free replacement if you loose or damage your hearing aid in the first 3 years. I am so happy we chose Avalon for my mom's hearing aids!! From the first phone call, through testing, selection, fittings and follow-up visits, the entire team at Avalon has been the epitome of excellence in customer service. I would absolutely recommend Avalon to everyone because I completely trust their expertise, attention to detail and chairside manner. My mom had difficulty hearing for several years, likely due to sitting next to loud orchestra horns while playing the violin. It became difficult to have a conversation with her and it was increasingly hard for her to hear what her kids and grand kids were saying. She said we sounded like we were mumbling, even when we spoke clearly, which was frustrating for all of us. And she would have to turn the TV volume up to a very high level. Overall, we wanted to have better conversations with her. So, we went in search of a place that would help us determine the best solution, not just sell us hearing aids. After doing online research, I signed up for Avalon's breakfast seminar to get more info, then I attended with my mom. So glad we did. She purchased the Halo 2 i1600 by Starkey and loves them. She can even change the settings from her iphone! Throughout the process, Richard kept both me and my mom informed about appointments and what to expect, which made it easier for our family to support her through the process. Now, my mom can hear so well, it is remarkable!! She loves being able to hear clearly. We have great conversations and we can all talk at a normal volume. My grandchildren had been telling me that I needed a hearing aid and their other Grandma agreed. She was happy with the one she got at Costco. So I went to Costco. When I walked around the store with the hearing aid on, I hated it because the background noise was so loud. The hearing aid dispenser did not think I would wear it, and he told me to come back in two years when my hearing would be worse and I would be more motivated to wear it. A year later, I went to Betty Vosters-Kemp at Avalon. My hearing loss was 72% of normal. I was getting tired of having to ask people to repeat themselves, especially physicians. Today I went to get me hearing tested.... A lady named Betty. Did the test... Wow.... I seriously didn't realize it was so bad..... she explained everything. I had a test about 7months ago and the results were about the same but Betty explained way better why I'm not hearing all the words that people say to me. And I realized that I'm a mouth reader, I was never told that by the previous person.....she let me try on some aids and then played the words as I hear them them then with the aids programmed for what a need. I instantly felt I was in good hands when I met Betty when I was in need of replacement hearing aids. And so I drove two hours to get to Avalon and didn't regret the extra effort for even a moment.
