My hands were tied. Pep Boyz was closed for the evening and I went to this establishment AND actually gave them my hard earned cash. I should've turned around when I saw the employee leaning on a display rack and I was just walking towards the door. I spoke to him upon entering he just looked at me and gave me the nod. I could handle that. But, the light skinned brotha behind the register who acted like him didn't want to be there today. He was no help and didn't try to be. The card machine wouldn't except credit and he finally said something after the third time of redoing the process. I went in to by some front headlights and a new battery because I noticed my car was starting up slow... I've been buying batteries from auto zone in other cities for 10 years and they've put the battery in for me every time . As well as any lights for the car..... I went in at 8:30 am the store was empty and they told me they weren't going to help me put the battery in after I spent $300+ because there wasn't enough staff.. I just purchased parts for an oil change and the parts sales manager Cynthia T was anything but professional. Her demeanor came off as if she did t want to be there. Then I asked about the sale on the oil and oil filter and she proceeded to tell me that bc my oil filter was more bc I bought synthetic that my price was higher. I purchased the rand that was on the window for $35.99 & that's not what I was charged before tax. The Customer Service always socks and I only came here bc I really needed oil in my car bc of a leak. Otherwise, I would've gone elsewhere. The entire vibe in the store is unwelcoming. Great experience! I went in for wiper blades - it was forecasted to rain really hard in the area and my blades were kinda smearing. I purchased some RainX blades and they were very pricey. Ouch! They worked really well. The you man (TURELL) who helped me locate the wipers was very friendly and even put the wipers on my car for me. I will definitely go back again and again for all of my vehicle needs. read more

This 1`star is employee specific. There was a tall light-skinned male that was the most lazy, unhelpful person I have seen in ANY store. I went to get a new battery and asked if they would pay for my old one. He said the cost is $150 + $18 and then I bring the old battery in to get the $18 back. I said why can't you just take the battery as you're replacing it and not charge me the $18 and he says the battery has to be brought in like, it's sitting in your car and you're ready to exchange it. Stupid, right? I'm like fine, I'll just bring it in the way he says. Then he asks me is my battery hard to get to. I don't know what that means. With the proper tools it's not. I haven't tried to remove the bolts and clamps around it so I just told him I don't know. What's hard for me may not be hard for someone working in an auto store. He finally comes to the car and tells me I have to move it from its location because it's going to be a "minute" and it may get towed. I asked how long he thinks it will take. He says I just have to go in and ask my manager. Fine guy. This dude comes back about 10 seconds later and asked me is it a push start. I said yes. He actually told me that he couldn't replace my battery because the computer in the car will reset. I was in so much disbelief that I was speechless. I could have told him that I've gotten my battery replaced at AutoZone before with a push start, that someone recommended AutoZone (at a different location) to me because they changed out his battery which is also a push start, or the many other people in this world that has gotten their batteries changed at an AutoZone with a push start vehicle. I didn't go back and forth with this man because I don't want anybody that dang lazy to work on my car and messing something up. It was cold, I had to jump start my car 4x before I even got there and the price of the battery was $60 more than I expected it to be; and to have to deal with such and unhelpful, lazy person and for him to tell me he couldn't do what I KNEW he could do, I was entirely disgusted. By the way, the AutoZone at 4803 Allentown Rd. Suitland, MD (#6539) changed my battery, took the $18 off before payment and seemed genuinely confused when I told him of my experience with this store. Sales people here are a little slow to the needs of customers waiting in line. It's pretty small compared to other AutoZones and the Pepboys across the street is nearly 3 times as large. Also the parking lot is small and there are lots of shady characters looking for "automotive" work creeping around the parking lot. If you need something quick, this might be a place to go to but I'd recommend the Pepboys across the street. read more

Scary parking lot; if I were female I would not go alone. I'd recommend going during the weekday and knowing EXACTLY what you need. Check the website to make sure they have it, and bring the item number and a picture if you can. Sales rep didn't even know what I was asking for; had to show him a pic and the item number. After looking in the computer thank goodness he found it. Agree with all the other reviews....shady characters in parking lot and very ghetto slow inefficient checkout unless there is NO ONE in the store. read more

This auto zone is the place to go if you like spending your money while being disrespected;This lady with the mule face tried to sell me a water outlet housing with a crack in it and when I showed her the crack she said "SO" and refused to get me another one from the back but she did recommend other stores that had the part. So I left and went on line to A1-auto parts and got the exact same new part for half the price auto zone wanted 29.99 vs 62.00. I will do more of my shopping on line and they wonder why retail outlets are going out of business, is it because employees act like they don't care or they own the place. read more

I came in for a free diagnosis test with 2 other people behind me the lady ask if i can wait so she can take care of the 2 guys behind me i accept nd stepped a side after the 1 guy the store had 7 more people and the other worker took the other guy that was behind me so the lady was still with the first guy so the guy finished up with the 2nd customer that was behind me the worker ask for another person to help so i step up and remind you i waited for 2 other guys to have been help before me as i came to the male worker he asked if he can clear up some of the people the came in after me i only needed a 1 min diagnosis test they wanted me to wait until they shorted up the line where is the sense in that ! something that could of take 2 mins at the most they made it extremely difficult for no reason.. I frequent Pep Boys in other locations and they're always great. This place however was terrible. Went in for a stereo and speakers. The shelf was full of options of empty boxes. Which I understand for theft issues. Went to the desk and the parts rep, Estelle, was talking about catfish to a fellow employee as I stood in front of her waiting for about 20 seconds for her to finish her food conversation. I asked for the radio then she looked it up and said they were out of stock, I went and grabbed another for the price and she said "we probably don't have a lot of them, we just put the boxes there so the shelf doesn't look empty" but in a less grammatically correct manner. Then went to get another item and she said "I'm not gonna look anything else up for you" Just terrible customer service. Then I found out she was the manager so this review is probably of no use. I'm giving the store on St. Barnabas Rd one star only because they have a mobile auto repair man by the name of Mike Broadnax who took me for $165 that they recommended to me but he is not affiliated with AutoZone in any way. He's always out in the parking lot (from Tuesday thru Sunday from the time the store opens until it closes) soliciting work with a black/dark gray Chevrolet van that has his auto repair name on it, which is Broadnax Auto Repair. BEWARE OF THIS MAN LADIES because he will take your money and not do the job that he is supposed to do; then try to double charge you for incorrect repairs. He's all about the money and has a bad disposition while taking your money and acting like he's doing you a favor. He did my FRONT ONLY brakes and rotors for $120; told me that my calipers were fine after taking the wheels off and after checking both calipers with some type of tool. I informed him before hand that the passenger side front wheel had been smoking and grinding/scraping to the point where I could hardly drive the car at times so to make absolutely sure the caliper was okay (got this advise from other friends). About a week after he did those repairs and took my $120 I went back (yes I went back to this man b/c I thought he would honor his work with my dumb a$$ self). I told him that something was still not right with the front passenger side wheel b/c it was still scraping/grinding and getting very hot. OK, at that point he looks at the car again without taking the wheels off and tells me that I need brake hoses on both sides b/c they were now collapsing as if he hadn't ignored or missed anything. So I go inside and buy the brake hoses and come back out. Initially he told me that it was going to be $45, then when I came back outside he tells me it's going to be $45 for each side and that he wasn't going to do one side without doing the other. Hindsight 20/20, I should have said never mind at that point and took my car and left. But I really thought that he was on the up and up (advise from the workers in the store) so I let him do the driver side front wheel first because he said it needed to be done first (mind you this wheel has not been smoking or scraping/grinding at all but I guess he figured he could get that $45 somehow). Then when he gets on the passenger side front wheel, he takes the wheel off; he says that I need a caliper and that the brand new rotor and brake had to be redone (only on that side) because they were burnt up. Also he tells me oh you don't need the brake hose on this side (after telling me I needed both hoses before he did the driver's side). You can take that back inside and put the money (which was only $14.99) towards the other parts and it going to cost you another $60 to redo the rotor and brake (but don't the brakes come in parts; so how you gonna only do one side now), plus another $45 for the caliper. At that point I realized he was not being honest and told him to put my wheel back on and not to do anything else. So I still give him $45 for the driver side hose that there probably was nothing wrong with that he replaced. I should have called the police but I had my special needs child with me and didn't want to upset her. On top of all that he scratched my new rims all up in the front by putting those sockets that didn't fit inside my rims to take the wheels off with his air tool. I didn't see this until I washed the brake dust off. WHAT A CON MAN AND A SCAM!!! NO COMPASSION!! HE COULD CARE LESS ABOUT YOU AND YOUR SHIT JUST ALL ABOUT WHAT MONEY HE CAN TAKE!! BEWARE DON'T LET THIS MAN WORK ON YOUR VEHICLE LADIES!!! I know he wouldn't try to do this to a man. SCUMBAG MF!! read more
